Character Name: Pherdur Kelm
Login: Pherdur–-“Salvation may be found through service. Every failure of duty diminishes Torm and every success adds to his luster”---
-The start of an Adventure-
The early morning sun showered Pherdur with a pleasant warmth as he rode towards the main gate. Clad in rusty chain and carrying as much as he could in the way of provisions and supplies, the Paladin was leaving, and had no intent on returning any time soon. He looked back one last time to give his final farewell to his father, who merely stood watching as his son rode away. The expression on his face was a mix of sadness and concern.
Pherdur was raised by his father in the city of Baldurs Gate. He was a Paladin, and while neither he nor his family were especially wealthy, they still managed to gain respect from many of the citizens at the gate. He raised Pherdur well and managed to successfully guide him towards the path of Torm and Paladinship. While his father guided him well, the Tormish didn’t recognise his potential until he was involved in the capture of several thieves that had taken gold from the church . Shortly after he began to do work for the church, and would soon be granted Paladinship. He performed his duties admirably while, living in the city, but after a lot of discussion with his father and the other priests, it was decided to that he would journey north to help root out enemies of the church in Neverwinter.
Pherdur rode through the gate for what would be the last time in years, and what was meant to be a simple journey north ended up being a journey across planes. He ended up in a place where many of the Gods of Faerun had no presence, and a coming darkness loomed on the horizon always… Though luckily for Pherdur, Torm did have some sort of presence there… For a while at least.

.-Darkness-
Seemingly alone a Paladin stood in a place of complete and vast emptiness. To his right, darkness engulfed the air and a rumble akin to thunder rang continuously. To his left, there was light. Not much, yet it was there none the less. In the distance a figure appeared. It walked, and walked, and walked, until finally the figure came into the Paladins view. It was an older man adorned in purple armour with a sword at his side. The paladin could not tell if it was his father or perhaps even Torm himself. The man in purple armour spoke:
“I will not deny you this choice, my son. You have done your duty over the years well, and you deserve rest,” the armoured figure looked towards the darkness. “But do not be fooled into thinking that you are now useless… That is the last thing you are… Follow me, and you will finally be at peace, turn back, and you will continue to serve as you always have done.”
“It is your choice.”
The man turned and began to walk towards the small light in the distance. The paladin stood motionless, almost feeling lost. He didn’t know who the armoured figure was, yet he felt emptiness and sadness build up inside of him the further he moved away. Though for some reason he knew he could not follow, and so he turned towards the darkness, and the deep rumble began to grow louder and louder. Though he had barely taken a step forward before it stopped, and he felt a burning pain searing through his chest. He could feel the touch of a familiar hand on his collar as he was dragged through the grass and away from a battle scene.
“Pherdur!” A muffled voice said in surprise.
“Hes alive… Quick, get him to a priest as soon as possible. Go to the fort, its one of the few places not tainted by the darkness now.”

-The here and Now-Pherdur turned to look at the priestess at the temple.
“I don’t know what happened. All I know is I thought Torm was dead… A Paladin without a god is unheard of, Im sure you know. I struggled to deal with the loss and fell into darkness for many weeks.” He sighed and looked at the symbol of Torm in the church.
“That however is another story. There was a great evil that tainted the land where I stayed before I came here. It was defeated not with the sword and bow, but with the wits and courage of those who banded together to fight against it… It was a long, tiring war, in which time seemingly slowed to a halt. But we were successful, and once it was defeated I began to wonder what had happened to old friends, and Faerun.. My home… So here I am. I did not grow up in Narfell, and I came here by chance... But friends I have found here and for now at least I shall stay.”
Lady Milern stood for a moment, as if Judging the Paladin.
“I have no reason to doubt your story, Pherdur… Though regardless of what happened earlier in your life, you are here now, and Torm is very much alive. Unfortunately your previous deeds also hold little sway here, so don’t think you will automatically gain respect from everyone in the church, you will have to earn it.”
“Of course.. And I am prepared to do so,” Pherdur said, bowing his head
“Good… Now if you’ll excuse me, Pherdur, I have duties to tend to, as I’m sure you do too.”
