    Character name: Arch Bloodfinder

Two druids and a child were sat around the fire. Normal talk of balance and that which is to come. Of the gods of the wood and the spirits of the trees. The child, Arch listened and learnt. He was kept, fed and clothed by the forest. He was happy. His mentors were kind to him, taught him everything he wanted to know.

In the middle of the night, Arch was awoken by a howl. The rustling around the trees seemed more prominent than normal.

"Arch!" A voice hissed. "Awake! We need to go!"

He crawled out under the blanket, confused and frightened. He was swept up in a cloak by the druids and carried north, deeper into the Rawlins. The sounds of chasing feet were constant behind them. Arch was unable to see a thing with his face kept under a cloak. The hunters were far behind yet they did not give up the chase for two hours.

As they jumped into a stream to pass over, a man, or was it a beast, jumped out in front of them. It forced them to stop and look around. The hunters closed in around them. The leader of the hunt closed in, drawing a small blade, grinning wildly.

The sound of bones crunching and a sound that was so natural it was unnatural, the druids clothes fell to the ground as two mighty eagles swept upwards into the night, the boy gripped in the talons.

The next evening, they thought they were safe. Made camp, relaxed, spoke to the animals to check the area. It seemed safe.

Noises sound through the forest, night after night. Yet somewhere at the south of the Rawlins, a strange sound rattled through the air. Not a howl, and not a scream, something in between the two. A flash of red light, and then silence. Not the normal silence of a forest, but true silence, no rustling, no hoots no leaves blowing in the wind.

Two bodies fell to the ground as the camp was overtaken by the hunt. They looked to the young boy. The Lord of beasts told them, in every prayer, to save the young. To leave him would kill the boy in the deep of the Rawlins. He was taken with them.

Fifteen years later, a man known was Arch walked up the Nars Pass, his eyes ever alert, the taste of meat in his mouth, and the smell of blood in his nostrils…
