Howls pierce the night

The peaceful twilight is shattered as a mournful howl suddenly bellows from the crossroads and carries across the night sky, the screech of a large cat riding its wake. The surrounding forest erupts as the call is joined by the countless woodland denizens, cascading out from the pass and resonating across the land. Aside from the breeze blowing through the trees, the area remains unnervingly quiet for the remainder of the night.
