Rask, Magician of The North Sword
-
Account name: E-Ninj4
Character Name: Rask
"Knowledge, particularly the raw knowledge of ideas, is supreme. An idea has no weight, but it can move mountains. The greatest gift of humankind, an idea outweighs anything made by mortal hands. Knowledge is power and must be used with care, but hiding it away from others is never a good thing. Stifle no new ideas, no matter how false and crazed they seem; rather, let them be heard and considered. Never slay a singer, nor stand by as others do so. Spread knowledge wherever it is prudent to do so. Curb and deny falsehoods, rumor, and deceitful tales whenever you encounter them. Write or copy lore of great value at least once a year and give it away. Sponsor and teach bards, scribes, and record keepers. Spread truth and knowledge so that all folk know more. Never deliver a message falsely or incompletely. Teach reading and writing to those who ask (if your time permits), and charge no fee for the teaching."
- The Dogma of Oghma (It rhymes!)
Rask, as a young man, lived within the streets an bowels of the great city of Baldurs Gate. He was used to it, the hustle, the bustle, the movments, the sway of merchants voices trying to sell their odds and ends to any who would succumb to their (mostly) charismatic ways. Rask had lost his family when he was young, around the age of 12 in human standards, to a freak fire that started from a fallen oil lamp in the middle of the night. Nothing too out of the ordinary about that, other than Rask was the only survivor, alone in the huge city.
Fortunatly for him, as was stated, he was good at navigating the city, knew its turns and twists, knew to an extent, who to go to, who to talk to. As the years got on, Rask became better and better at doing what he needed to survive, and evading the arm of the law at the same time. Rask was intelligent, and always will be, even to this day. He does well when he speaks, as he has been able to imitate the merchants and workers and bards about baldurs gate, and has become a near master at speaking, and hiding his emotions if need be, from others.
Since he was young, he always had an innate affinity to the magical arts, which was fortunate, for despite handsome and charismatic, Rask lacked in the department of physical streangth and stamina. He is slender, and unskilled at anything to do with physical fighting. Rask learned to defend himself, though, using his innate magic, his wits, and a bit of the skill of the crossbow to his advantage.
Rask became somthing of a mercenary, early on, and did the odd jobs for people, and on his spare time to earn coin, he would perform magic tricks for people on the street for tips. Life was boring, and uninteresting to Rask, and he seeked somthing more, somthing adventerous, somthing spontaneous. Rask often reffered to Oghma, on all decisions for wisdom and ideas, as most of the all who followed the binder of knowledge, did. He decided, afte much thought and prayer, that this would be a good plan, and a good way to learn more about the world outside.
And so, shortly there after, Rask set out to the north, and has now most recently arrived in Narfell, particularly in the town of Norwick. It was here he met up with a group of people who called themselves The North Sword, and it just so happened they were in search of a magician with his particular talents. It was only natural then, for him to join them, besides, he thought, 'These people seem less boring than most'. Now, with the marking of The North Sword on his right hand, and a spell on his finger tips, and his companions on either side, Rask sets out in search of knowledge, and adventure, and good travels. All of the things he has always wanted in life.
