Autumn's Journal

  • Found on the body of Autumn in the desert, was Autumn's Journal. Though there doesn't seem to be much written in it, what has been was written in smooth, fine print

    Journal Entry 1:

Dear Journal… Wow! This town is amazing. Its nothing like the dalelands, so much different from daddy's farm. There looks to be many rough looking people here, many so much bigger and stronger than the adventurers. Most of them kept to themselves, but there were still many welcoming faces. There's even a temple of Chauntea here, and after speaking to them, they assigned me duties on the farm lands. This will be a lovely stop on the way to Rashemen.

The soil is rather dense here, and the temperatures are not as warm as I'm used to, but it still doesn't seem nearly as cold as it was. The farmers that work here are rather rough around the edges (I do not blame them though, there seems to be much peril and the land is not nearly as fertile as what I am used to.

    Journal Entry 2:

Dear journal, I'm not really used to writing in one of these, but good habits are made through consistency! Anyway, I went out on my first adventure deep down south of the city, and I have learned that there are many, many dangers lurking in the region. Its not like at home where the most we worry about are large wolves and brown bears, there's everything! Walking skeletons and zombies just like I had studied about while training as a Cleric back home! I tried, tried tried to consecrate the area and just when I had become disheartened, the skeletons fell and the zombies started running away, praise the Earthmother!

Also I might be joining the druidic circle as a guardian, miss Fadia is such a wonderful person and said they would consider my request. The druid's grove is also quite possibly the most beautiful place I had ever seen..

    Journal Entry 3:

Dear journal, listening to a story which would explain the unseasonable warmth in a region north like this, I had found out that great adventurers had mistakenly activated a power source which powered an army's machines, and caused a great war here. A farming city called Jiyyd had fell in the process... my heart bleeds for that and those which was lost, but I was just a child when it happened milking cows so there was nothing I could do. Anyway! They attacked the northern city of Peltarch which had almost fallen to the attack, but the team of miss Lycka and many other brave heroes managed to shut down the device. I don't remember specific details, but releasing the pressure from the source which powered the devices also caused a great rift to tear throughout the land, creating a river as well as making things much warmer. The farmers love it though, many of the druids did not though... I personally have no real opinion, I should really be heading to Rashemen soon though...

    Journal Entry 4:

What a terrible day... at least I had escaped alive though not by will of my own. Myself and a mister Dredi, a cleric of Ilmater who went down into the crypts had woken up a vampire! Oh dear... it was rather frightening. It was also very frustrating. I swore an oath as a Paladin, my hard work as a shepard, fighting off wolves that had attacked my mother, joining the militia back in the Dalelands while studying to be a priestess. Having paladinhood (is that a word?) thrusted upon me, was a heavy weight on my shoulders, but like carrying my little cousin on my back, it was a burden worth bearing. Oh.. well anyway... myself and the Ilmatarian fought to see which one of us would sacrifice ourselves to the Vampire... and despite him being an Ilmatarian, I would not yield. A paladin does not leave others behind, Stubborn fool but... he had a good heart.

Frustrated after many attempts, from what I was told he gained control of me.. drank my blood.. and let me wander back to town.
I was so tired, so weak... I tried doing my duties later that day, but I passed out in the fields. One of the farmers let me sleep in an extra cot and had told me I slept for three days straight. I was carefully fed milk with a dash of honey when I was asleep they told me. Chauntea had truly blessed these people because when I woke up, I felt wonderful!

Now, as for the vampire, and the undead. I want to rally the good people of this place and put an end to them once and for all. A mass consecration within the family crypt could lure the vampire out, and the more powerful heroes of this land could put and end to it. Then, we could put all the dead to rest inside and purge the building of evil once and for all. Its ambitious, but I have faith in everyone here that it will work.

    Journal Entry 5:

Norwick is my home. I spoke those within the Chauntean temple and they said I could take up permanent residence here. Its already been a few months now. I am worried for a young woman named Lou though. She has a very light, mild taint to her and her nature is chaotic. I have seen her done many acts of good though, and she even saved me before when I was about to fall from a hobgoblin attack. I know I have sworn the paladin oath, and I might be bending the rules, but I truly believe she can be saved. There are others though that made me worry though, a dwarf with a moderate taint, and a noble with a powerful taint, the latter trying to sell evil weapons. I had confronted him of his nature and his wares, and he took serious offense. He said he was trying to redeem himself as well, but it was difficult to believe, as when he had asked me for coin to donate to free slaves, I had asked if I could see him free them, and he told me that I couldn't, even if I disguised myself.

Each day its more difficult to follow the code, and be a priestess... but I will persevere. I must! Many tainted souls here I see fight to defend the city, save lives... I will heal them only should they look like they'll perish soon, Chauntea forgive me if I do so.

Also, it looks like there's a halfling here who has work for us! A treasure hunt it seems, and while Lou was coming, her virtue alone I have seen in battle outweighs the light taint I sense from her person. It looks like she has a twin sister too! They're shocking eachother with electricity somehow from their armor running around town... silly people!

Anyway, I'll write more when I come back from the trip, promise! Chauntea watch over me for this might be perilous!
