A Gnoll Problem

  • _It seems, that the gnolls of the so like named woods, have learned a trick or two from the constant stream of adventurers trying their luck in the woods.

Reports of gnollish bowmen begin to move up and down the pass with each caravan that passes.

Whether or not this is true, is wild speculation however, and there seems to have been no official stance on this new gnoll threat._

  • While battle seemed to rage underground in the wood a silent group of scouts from Peltarch took the offensive above ground. Starting at the spot the others had gone in after the bandits, they circled out through wood like ghosts. Once they pinpointed the gnoll's positions they triggered their ambushes. Through the near environs and then deeper into the wood, death stalked unseen. Then into the caves themselves they went, leaving a message written in death and blood in their wake. Then as quietly as they came they dissapeared.

  • _A recent attack on a caravan prompted a group of adventurers to take action. The survivors of the caravan attack informed the good natured folk of Narfell, and so they set off into the gnoll woods.

Some time later, after many sounds of battle rung out through the woods, the adventurers returned… looking rather beat up and exausted. Whispers of a gnoll leader being slain in the battles.

What will the gnolls do now? Only time will tell._

  • _Occasional stories come out of a stray gnoll here and there that are found dragged into the pass, shredded, mauled and usually missing limbs.

Even more disturbing are the occasional stories of not finding bodies at all, just pools of blood scattered through with hair._

  • After the offensive by the charismatic senator of Peltarch, the Gnolls seem to have fallen back into their woods for the time being.

  • _Ronan continues to take an offensive to the gnolls. Often the sounds of magical explosions are heard throughout the gnoll woods. The only casualties being gnolls, and maybe an earth elemental or two.

If a caravan happens by, Ronan offers to escort them down the pass to protect from gnolls, or other dangers even._

  • _Ronan of Peltarch has been seen in the pass, entering the gnoll woods and clearing a few of their numbers, and any he sees sneaking around in the pass.

His likely motive being to help keep trade caravans between Peltarch and Norwick moving. Or possibly just to keep some of the travelers safer with a lesser chance of a gnoll encounter._

  • _Tales of the Gnoll bandits continue up and down the pass, one report stating that an unknown person was found dead not far from the Legion Tower.

The woman was reported to have been wearing the tattered remains of some blue and black armor, as well as finding a torn and punctured cloak of the same blue being found nearby her corpse.

Scrawled upon her dead and decaying form in very crude common was the word "Gift".

Many of the numerous caravans are now avoiding the area, choosing to use the boats up the river as a safer method, albeit harder to fit wagons upon._

  • Clay shakes his head upon hearing this, a feral grin turning into a growl, as he looks down to the leathers he pulled from a dead gnoll ranger's body.

    "F****ers just don't learn."

  • _Once again, tales of gnollish bowmen sound up and down the pass, including one report that late one night, some gnolls were seen sneaking near the Legion's headquarters.

As of recent, three caravans have come under attack with either casualties or the severely wounded, the caravans making these reports themselves.

It seems that the Gnolls have been striking from ambush, slaying a few here and there, but taking no goods from any of the lamed caravans.

One report was of the Gnolls attacking the oxen directly, in order to slow the caravan as it went south._

Just thank GOND they didn't have the smarts to make themselves <g>farking</g> crossbows.
