Gathering those that are Preparing for the Dracolich
-
"If you collapse that tower, you're going to be digging trough the rubble for the philactory, which is pretty hard when an undead army is trying to kill you at the same time. I doubt something with the power and supposed intelligence of the dracolich would have stuffed its whole essence into a glass bottle, or anything else that breaks that easily."
-
Has anyone here seen this tower up close? Dwin scans the room, seemingly looking for someone in particular
Unless it was made by my friends in the Stonemasons… a tower will fall. Its just a question of where to light the kegs.
Anyone have an idea how its built?
-
Jerrick, seeming harried but forcing himself to look as calm as possible (And probably just ending up looking scary) strides to the front of the room, from his camouflaged position near the back thanks to his spells, and clears his throat.
_I speak for the Druid Circle of Quercatha Terr.
I am currently in discussion with my fellow Elders about many points, one of which being that the Dracoliches Phylactery is built into his personal tower. If something can be coordianted to have that fall while he's being fought, then he could be taken down for real, all at once.
I urge every single person to put some research into any rumor, every childrens story, anything at all that may hold a key to giving us an edge against undead opponents, or even stories about the Lost City itself.
Knowledge is just another weapon here, and I intend to sharpen it and use it like one.
He turns to Mariston before he leaves
I plan on meeting with the Yuan-Ti to ask them to either attack a day early, or someplace else, if they plan on being involved in this. I want no part of their action to have anything to do -with- us, as it would do nothing but harm us to have our most staunch and appropriate allies stopped from engaging this foe.
I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but this seems like exactly what the enemy would hope of us. Cut out the people best suited for fighting him, possible in return for some questionable gain by those we have little to no reason to trust. If I am successful in this, making myself clear to them that they will be seen as enemies should we sight them, will you and your order be able to join this follower of Mielikki and his charges into battle?_
(Jerrick is rolled a d20 for charisma since he's basically making a speech, rolls a 14, for a total of 15 if anybody is paying attention to that sort of thing)
-
_"If I can.." at this, Hammer glances at Thaeon ".. I will be there for the battle. And if not, I -will- be there before it. I will do what I can so that Tempus favors us, which everyone should do. Victory lies in the hands of Tempus, and only trough courage and honour can it be earned.
That said, I will be around to bless those who want me to."_
-
All right! So we got the Legion, Norwick's Militia, the … uh ... snake people? Yuan Ti are snakes, right? ... and MAYBE the Divine Shield.
WHO ELSE?
Spellweavers? Ronan can take out at least a couple of those super knight undead things.
Druids? You folks got any foresty tricks up your sleeves?
... do we even HAVE any druids here?
<g>FARK
And we still need a plan! Busting in there to wander around looking for the phylactery is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!</g>
-
The decision is no longer mine to make Lady Rith, though as Grand Inquisitor of the Order I shall report the findings to our Grandmaster for his consideration. Twill be his word that guides the knights in this matter.
The risk is by allowing these yuan-ti, to gain their goal we may endanger many more innocents than our already known foe.
We do not know their purpose in this, and I doubt very much they aid from a sense of compassion.I shall seek Torm’s council on the matter.
-
::Rith takes a step ahead, and speaks in clear, yet soft voice::
Please Sir Mariston, heed the Chancellor's words. The Yuan-ti may be wicked beings, but it is not our business what they choose to do against the Dracolich. The Chancellor's manners may not be the best, but I do believe his message is sensible.
Besides, if it increases our chances to save even one innocent, it will be already worth it. We aren't signing a treaty with the Yuan-ti, we are merely pushing the same boulder as they are. There has to be no contact or direct interaction. There will be no exposure to their corruption.
I beg you to reconsider. I will of course accept the Order's final stand on the matter. But I do hope this stand is favourable, for the sake of all we know and love.
-
Dwin places his hands on his hips and frowns a bit as he listens to Mariston. Once he finishes speaking, he addresses the entire group
Mariston… you have come to Norwick's aid more than once, when your Senate would not raise a finger to help us. I have always been grateful for that. I am grateful for the light that your Shrine spreads in the Realm. Don't let it be snuffed!
Geography sometimes provides a different point of view, eh? The Yuan Ti are our neighbors. The Fire Giants are yours. Ironically, both have come to our aid in the past. Would I call them allies? That is different. Neither are in this room right now! smirks
I know little of the holy-ways of palladins, but I do know that any god that would strike down a follower when he was defending the defenseless seems to have his priorities a bit mis-forged.
Last I checked, I am still the Lord Chancellor of this land, smirks and on Moradin's hammer I can swear to you that I have had no conversations with the Yuan Ti, and no formal agreements have been made with them.
I ask you, Mariston, old-friend, to ally with me. Should the Yuan Ti choose their own path against the same foe, we may be thankful for their acts without having to call them allies, yes?
-
Tis not a matter of old prejudices tis the fact that if a paladin or cleric of our Gods were to ally themselves with this endeavour the gods themselves wouldst remove their favour form them.
There is no such thing as the lesser of two evils, there is merely two evils. Evil is a force, a corrupting cunning one at that. Be wary of those that offer swift aid, yet hold sway to dark forces, for there will be a reckoning for that aid.
The Yuan-ti hath been seeking power and influence in this region for years, through manipulation and prophecies of doom.
There can be no alliance with such evils for any devote follower of a goodly divinity.
-
The Chancellor speaks up after listening to the banter.
If not for the Yuan-ti, we would all be speaking furball right now. chuckles Allies or not, they share the same enemies that we do, and they have come to Norwick's assistance many times in the past.
It would sadden me to see one ally walk away because of another's involvement.
At this point, Dwin glances at any of his respected kin from the Hold (if they are present)
Muamman Duathal teaches my people that one must learn to live with other peoples. He teaches hope. He teaches trust.
Knowing the foes that we are up against, I would hope that everyone… myself included, can put aside historical biases or religous differences and work together.
At this last point, Dwin addresses his old friend Mariston directly
We may have but one chance at this. Quarrels should be full, axes should be sharpened, armor should shine and banners should fly. All enemies of the Great Evil must unite --lest there be nothing left to argue about afterwards, anyway...
-
Yngdír gives one of his never-ending roundabout opinions to Theaon during the muster, after the Order-man speaks.
"I would prefer to have the Order on our side than the Yuan-ti. They rely heavily on magic, these Knights are Men with steel and bow, and divine conviction. Yet things are already so - and have been so since the dawning of these troubles."
-
::Mariston enters and speaks::
Tis spoken that the yuna-ti art aiding in this foray, if that is the case none of the Order of the Divine Shields knights may aid, and I wouldst caution other priests of goodly gods to take stock. For an alliance with such may see them removed from the graces of their gods.
So is it true that some alliance with the yuan-ti is under taken in this?
-
::The blonde High Priestess walks in clad in her golden and crimson armor as she raises her warhammer, leaning it on her right shoulderplate::
Lathander and I will see the demise of that abomination.
-
Arlan raises his hand
Hey uh, Not to sound pessimistic or anything. But if they do take Norwick what the hell do we do?
-
Aelfin quietly walks in the room, dressed for war. Apparently he's taken to wearing the brooch of the Shesae again. He remains silent, listening to what others have to say about the current threat. He does not say whether or not he plans to go into the battle, however, or that he will simply remain with those who guard Norwick's walls.
((Very bad hour for me, so I doubt I can make it in time to leave for the LC))
-
Apollo enters the Hall right when Benji starts shouting and stands in the back watching quietly.
-
Benji returns after the South Gate Massacre.
…
FARK!
...I NEED MORE GONDAMN TROOP COUNTS HERE. WHO'S COMING ALONG?
There is NO WAY I'm going to fight past all those FARKING undead super warriors without some SERIOUS SHITE backing me up!
AND THE DRACOLICH!
ARAMUIL! Do you still have that magic death killer undead slaying magic spear? Are we using it? How else can we kill it? Did somebody mention a phylactery?
Does anyone else have any Gondamn plans? SPEAK UP!
From what I JUST SAW down south they can VERY EASILY take Norwick.
IF WE DON'T HAVE A WAY TO STOP THAT THING THEN WE NEED TO START GETTING EVERYONE OUT OF NORWICK NOW!
-
Celad is present, standing quietly in the back. He waits nervously to here his part in the defense.
-
One of the rare occasions when Yngdír is within Norwick's hall. He is clearly present for the muster.
-
@5538565caf=Araighn:
_General Theaon simply pats Benji on the shoulder after his announcement, then speaks
"Perhaps all involved parties should move inside to discuss this."_
((In my first post I said 'Once everyone is gathered in the Great Hall' so I'm assuming everyone is inside in the Great Hall in Norwick when Benji starts shouting))
