Aaleyah Odiana

  • _She had been born in the Elven camp, she remembered her naming well. It was the first time she had sensed her father and she remembered him singing to her mother’s belly, along with her mother. His voice had sounded so strange and the little Aaleyah could not understand why it was not clear and melodious like her mother’s seemed.

After she was born she didn't have many memories of her father, perhaps she was too young or perhaps he was gone too much for her to recall. Her connection to her mother lessened to, years later she would have it explained that once a child was born they would no longer hear their mother’s thoughts only the emotions and even those faded with each passing year as the child became more of its own person.

The demon came. Almost everyone died, but she and her mother did not and did escape north to peltarch. She had no memory of this again she was far too young. What she did remember was her mother’s slow excruciating death as the bond her mother shared with her father slowly dragged her to an early grave. Through it all her mother relived one moment again and again that Aaleyah would experience in nightmares for countless years to come: Her father burning, his flesh boiling away to drip on the ground before his eyes for several long moments before his eyes also burned sparing him the agony of sight for the last few horrifying moments of his life.

Aaleyah's mother did not last a year and did not ever regain her sanity; Aaleyah would question her own for a long time the memory seared into her as an infant. She was passed from family to family amongst the survivor's; fitting in less and less as she grew older. It really wasn't their fault and she knew it. She was broken. Her mother had broken her and for that Aaleyah did not how to forgive, and thus did not know how to move on.

At the age of 40 (young by elven standards), she had lived with the last of those who had escaped the desolation that she ever would. Sometimes she lived with different families, mostly like a servant or novelty to the rich humans of Peltarch.

She lived with an elven woman by the name of Raina for awhile and her human husband. She was kind to her and tried to be a mother to her but the little wood elf was almost as strange to the gentle woman as an orcish child might have been. Aaleyah enjoyed those years most of all her time in Peltarch. She helped take care of the couple’s children Clayton, and Lindarial who for awhile almost even felt like siblings to her.

It lasted much longer than any other family had but in the end she left unable to come to terms with her own emotions and afraid she might infect the children with whatever her mother had given to her. She lasted another 10 years in Peltarch and decided one day to check in on Raina and her family that was when she heard Clayton had been gone for nearly 4 years. It gave her resolve to that if this young man could leave and hopefully find his way she could too. The lands of her people called to her and finally she headed south to answer._
