PC: Mari Yuhanna the Blue
Player: Juggernaut1981Mari grew up in Chondalwood and left there to study at a distant elven wizard's college. He left for wizard's college at the age of 90 and spent 30 years studying wizardry, tinkering, engineering as well as spellcraft, basic arcane knowledge and elven history. While at the elven Wizard's college he dealt mainly with conjurations and utilising magic to enhance machines. His father was a tinkerer and his mother was a bard. He had three brothers and two sisters; he lost two of the brothers and one of his sisters was raped and gave birth to a half-orc.
After his 30 years, he returned back to Chondalwood. His time in Chondalwood, both before and after college, had numerous orc and goblin raids. He has a deep-seated prejudice against orcs, goblins and drow. This prejudice can be hidden but he views all orcs, goblins and drow as irredeemably destructive, evil and as "lesser beings". He has lost a number of his friends and family to the incessant raids. Being close to Mulholrand he has also learned much about the Mulholrandi culture and while admiring them, he also understands their downfall.
He has left Chondalwood to learn how other cultures solve the same problems with different machines. Through learning all of this he intends to be able to craft machines and tools that will appeal across all of Faerun and make himself exceedingly rich. He has allocated around 35 years of his life for this journey of discovery and to establish himself as a master Wizard and master Craftsman.
He is interested in others for their usefulness to him. He is selfish, spiteful and vengeful; but patient. He knows he has 400 years of lifetime left and is happy to wait for some petty irritant to die after their trivial 50 years of life ends.
He has also has the following opinions.
Summoned beings are expendable they are little more than magical machines that are created and will fade… they were never intended to last.
Animals are less valuable than humanoids no God cares for the worship of the stones, trees, pigs or even krakens, so how can they be as important in the cosmos as an Elf? In fact, no devil tempts the soul of a cow or eagle… they tempt the souls of humans, dwarves, dweagar, drow, halflings (as he calls them Dalefolk), etc. If they aren't worth tempting away from the good gods; then other lifeforms are clearly less valuable. He has no problem killing an animal.
Worshipping Animals and Nature OR living like an animal is wrong No God cares for the worship of animals, trees and stones. So worshipping those things make you worse that the stones and trees - you are worse than valueless. At least an animal can give you milk, fur, cheese, eggs or meat. He has little time for Druids and Rangers. In particular he views Druids as little better than talking animals.
Those who can't control themselves deserve to be led into traps If you're foolish enough to not control yourself, then you deserve whatever fates you get. Barbarians in particular deserve their death on a battlefield because they lose their minds there. And so on.
Self-preservation He is moderately paranoid, highly sceptical and believes that every being is out to kill him; until proven otherwise. When he meets something new, he assumes it wants to kill him. He would think this of an Angel as much as he would of a Demon. He has no problem running from a situation where he feels he is highly likely to die.
Self-made Intelligent Undead are fools for example, Liches, Vampires, etc. They try to cheat death but also don't end up with life; they are fools who couldn't control their own greed for immortality. Even the Gods are not immortal, fooling yourself into thinking undeath is immortality is the greatest delusion a being can have.
