    Character: Korban Badger

    First new memory, the smell of smoke and the tangy stink of drying blood. He tries to open his eyes, and panics. Is he blind? No, it is only dried blood holding them closed. He scrubs at his face, tearing open the wounds that cover it, fresh blood seeping down the side.

    He struggles to stand and looks around. As he see the distruction he begins to remember. He see's the charred wagons and the still smoking corpses. Then in a rush, he remembers,," Gorla! Sevry!" he shouts and begins looking frantically through the destroyed caravan. he must find his wife and son!

    And then, across the shattered hulks, he see's them. She lays there, coverering little Sevry. He rushes to their side and falls to his knee's weeping, and tries to pick them up, hoping that there is some chance that death passed them by. But it is not to be. Both have huge wounds as if a giant beast had savaged them.

    Then he remembers, Dragons. They had stopped to water their oxen. All thirty of the Badger clan had elected to migrate to a new area. Hoping to find a home with a new clan. They had always been more prone to wandering. The clan would move every couple of hundred years. But no more.

    The dragons came from the west out of the late afternoon sun. there were three, all reds. They must have been young ones. He remembers that they looked smaller then the ones he had seen in the mountains back home. The clan tried to mount a defense but it was to late. He could not even remember how he fell.

    Then the full realization hits him, and he howls with anguish. Deep wracking sobs for all that was lost. For all that will never be.

    After a long while he begins the horrendous task. He searches until he finds a small cleft in the rocks, and slowly places his kin within the comforting hands of the earth. It takes him two long days before he is finished.

    Now he travels on, going north and west, the way the dragons came from. Will he find them? Maybe. Dwarves live a long time. Plenty of time to find them, and maybe see his family again.
