    This is a story of a son of slaves. Bennie was born the son of two Hins who were the property of a Drow preistess in the depths of the underdark. All his short 19 years have been spent being tortured and watching his family being beaten and tortured. Eventually, when he was nine the preistess grew tired of her "pets" as she called her Hins. She had collected over a dozen in the past 50 years, but had found a new interest, pixies. So, she promptly had all of her Hins placed for sacrifice to the Demon Queen.

    All but Bennie. You see, Bennie was useful to her. Due to starvation and poor health as a baby, and constant beatings has a child, Bennie was extremely small. Even for a Hin. Topping out at only 3'. And he was allso very thin, almost skinny. This allowed him to get into very small spaces,, like drains and Pixie cages, to do the cleaning. And when his mistress dropped something down a hole in the bowels of the underdark, it was Bennie who would get it. She would say, "gopher, get that for me now". Gopher was the only name she ever called him. Only his mother called him Bennie.

    There were advantages to his life, he became very good at sneaking around, learned how to open things he shouldn't, and also he was able to do small tricks that made it easier to avoid punishment. There were many times his mistress would even forget he was still around. Until she needed a small cleaner or gopher.

    In all the world Bennie never had a friend, until he met a Pixie named Flirt. He was assigned to cleaning her cage, and though he was always hungry himself he would still sneak her extra food so she would not starve. He thoght she was the most beutiful creature he had ever seen. Then one day his mistress packed up her whole household,, including all her "pets". Bennie heard her say they were going to war against a surface town. A town called Nowick. He had never been on the surface, and the thought terrified him.

    For days they walked the twisted ways of the underdark, till at last they came to a great encampment of Drow. The very next day his mistress left with all the warriors. For days there was no word of them. Until, finally, stragglers started to come in with the news. DEFEAT!

    The camp was in chaos,, the drow were taking what they could and running back into the depths of the underdark. Bennie waited in fear for the evil priestess, but she never returned. He siezed his chance and released all the pixies. Flirt told him to follow her, and she led him to the surface.

    There is much to be written of his first days above. But not here. Not now. He did eventually find himself on the outskirts of the very town the drow attacked. He is still there, afraid to be seen, wondering "What if they are worse than the drow?". His only friend, the pixie he saved, Flirt.
