    Character: Ronie Benthendt

Ronie grew up in Trail's End, a city in Damarra. Trail's End is also a frequent stop for mercenaries or soldiers heading east, as well as those returning from there. His mother was the owner of a fairly large home, and she would rent rooms and provide food for the mercenaries travelling through. For the right man, and the right price, she would also provide her companionship for the night. In fact, it was one of these lucky men that fathered Ronie. Though his mother has a few guesses, she was never quite sure which one was responsible.

Ronie was well taken care of by his mother, however. As he grew older, he got to hear the wild tales of adventure told by those travelling through. Battles with orcs, goblins, devils, and dragons, as well as hidden treasure and magical items of great power, were the images that filled his head as a child. Most of the stories were probably greatly exaggerated, but to a young boy they were amazing. Nothing would persuade him from following such a life.

Along with the stories of adventure and treasure, Ronie learned of the Lord of Battles. His praises were sung when a battle had gone well, and failure was a sign that he was displeased. He was spoken of with great reverence by the fighting men, for he could turn the tide of conflict on a whim. These stories led Ronie to become one of Tempus' followers. He would be a priest of the Lord of Battles, glorifying him through combat and encouraging his worship.

He sought out a temple, at the age of 16, and was trained in the ways of a cleric. For Ronie, though, life in a temple would not be enough. At 18, he was ready to get into the world, and on the battlefield. Around this time, word had been coming from the land of Narfell that the town of Norwick was becoming a center of activity for warriors and other adventurers. Such a town, Ronie knew, would be a place where Tempus would be given glory. It would also be a place where a mercenary could become rich, if he could stay alive.
