Ishikawa Family

  • Kara-Tur

Hundreds upon hundreds of miles east of Narfell is a land uniquely different from any place on Faerun. Across the Hordelands on the trade route known as the Golden Way, as far east as one can travel is a land of mystery, legend, and great power called Kara-Tur. Consisting of eleven different nations all deep in their own traditions, culture, and history. Though the Shou Lung Empire is the most powerful and well known to the lands of Narfell, Rashemen, and Thesk, there is one nation only few have ever heard of or seen called Kozakura.

    Kozakura

Several hundred miles east of Shou Lung is an island nation ruled by an Emperor and a Shogun called Kozakura. Founded during the Omi Wars by Emperor Miki, the island nation consists of beautiful thick forests, far reaching mountains, and mythical coastlines. The Emperor more of a position of tradition and ceremony, the real power is held by the military commander and dictator known as Shogun. Under the Shogun are feudal factions ruled by Lords who use a powerful warrior class known as Samurai. These Samurai dedicate their lives to "Bushido", meaning "Way of the Warrior." Loyalty, warrior mastery, obedience, duty, self sacrifice, and honor to death are the way of life for Samurai in Kozakura.

    Hawke Family

In Kozakura foreigners are not trusted and of the few that ever land at the shorelines of the island nation this harsh reality is quickly apparent with most dying at the sword of a Samurai. Either by the grace of the gods or just luck one westerner succeeded in beating the fate of all others before him. Michael Hawke, an adventurer with a determined spirit landed at Kozakura with a group of four others. At first like all others before them they were sentenced to die. Using his wit, charm, and cunning intelligence Michael Hawke was able to convince a few of the Lords and the Shogun he could be a wealth of information about the west. For years he was kept alive to answer questions and advise on all things western. Eventually years became a decade and he and his companions, three of which still survived, had the opportunity to leave if they so chose. Michael Hawke decided to stay and his companions left never to be seen again. For the service given to Shogun he was given land, a Lordship, and eventually Lord Michael Hawke started a family. Served and protected over the years by his own loyal Samurai, the Ishikawa family, Lord Michael Hawke lived out his years eventually dying naturally of old age.

    Ishikawa

The Ishikawa, an old, honorable family of the Kozakura nation was given to Lord Michael Hawke by the residing Shogun to serve, protect, and obey, an honor no family could refuse. The Ishikawa well known for their Samurai protected their new western Lord without hesitation. Akio Ishikawa had four sons, Taniko, Kazuhiro, Sato, and Daishi who gave their undying loyalty to Lord Michael Hawke. With their father eventually passing from a natural illness Taniko the oldest of the four sons took over as head of the Ishikawa family. Taniko over the years grew quite close to the only son of Lord Michael, Morden Hawke. Training Morden in the eastern ways of a sword and other aspects of life Taniko had high hopes for the young Hawke. Unfortunately Morden like his father had the same adventurous spirit and wanted to leave Kozakura and see the western lands. Against Taniko’s wishes, Morden left Kozakura eventually settling in a cold desolate barbarian land known as Narfell.

    Present

With the death of Lord Michael Hawke and the only heir to the deceased Lord in Narfell, Taniko and his three brothers set off west to bring Morden back to rule the Hawke family…………
