Foul weather

A giant brute of a man covered in tribal tattoos and wearing a symbol of Auril proudly is often seen on hills or in the forest, praying to Auril against the corruption of her power and praying for Narfell to return to the winter it truly belongs to, so that the cold is in Auril's rightful hand.

Z is seen loading up a cart with deadwood and heading towards the farmlands of Norwick. He makes multiple trips.
///DMs - The wood is located in the outside storage crates of the Crafters Union - Please grab it before the next reset. Thanks!

*Z continues to work overtime crafting extra heavy cloaks, thick boots, insulated gloves, and toasty-warm clothing to help the good citizens of Norwick to fight off the biting cold.
Every week or so, he heads out with a new shipment of donated goods (including food) - compliments of the Crafters Union.*
///Check the extra tool bin (PS) in the Crafters Union for items that went out to the farmers to help protect against the cold snap.

Telli stands atop one of the farmland hills near Chauntea's altar crossing her arms huddled into herself for warmth. The words Caelian spoke echo in her psyche… "You visited me in a dream Telli and warned me to warn you of falling soon like you did before... during the war." As the hot air escaped her breath her expression becomes a trance most mornings mulling over what Caelians omen means. The years since her fall have broughten her so close to Chauntea, yet this omen leaves a bitter taste on her lips like caked blood would a fighter. As the war against the Hungry One continues Telli's demeanor changes and she's often seen much more drawn within herself.

_The Elf Brendel once again takes up a "patrol" of sorts South. He assists wayward adventurers and locals alike.
Once in awhile, he returns to town with Frost rimming his battered jacket, and eyes alight with youthful vigor; he can then be seen sharing a brazier with various Redcloaks. He shares News from the South, jokes, and reassuring words; whichever seem to be needed the most at the moment.
Always though, he heads back out quickly, as if he does not want to become to familiar with warmth, or comfort. Determined to do what little he can to help._

_The weather continues to deteriorate. From time to time the town now becomes lost in huge clouds of fog that blow in from the woods, so thick one literally can't see one's hand in front of one's face.
Several more deaths and vanishings occur, as townsfolk and hunters freeze to death or simply are swallowed up by the mist, sometimes leaving a bloody shoe or button behind.
The distant echo of drums and hideous screeches can dimly be heard from the far eastern parts of the Rawlinswood, and a dark, snowy overcast now seems to perpetually blanket that entire half of the forest. Several times, Norwick guards spot a hobgoblin or bugbear trying to stagger up to the gates, hands raised; those not shot down only get to the doorstep before falling over dead of exposure and wounds, looks of shock and horror etched on their hideous faces.
THe only part of town that seems unaffected by the frigid gloom is the site of the building shrine to Lathander, which strangely enough during the hours of the day tends to be dappled in an almost warm beam of sun coming through a break in the clouds._

Adriell is seen with some of the refugees, both offering them any needed healing as well offering blessing against the cold, once those run thin, for the children, she is seen purchasing fur cloaks for them to help where she can.
" Auril is not my god, but no one should have to suffer from this act of evil. " she is overheard when asked by one of the little children if Auril sent her to help them.

*The Chancellor reminds everyone and spreads the word that refuge can be taken in the Dwarven Hold where there is warmth. People accepting such shelter should bring as much food with them as possible, as the Hold is also low on its stores.
The Great Hall is also always available for everyone should they need safety, warmth, conversation, or all of the above.*

_The weather suddenly begins to take a definite turn for the worse. Bone-numbing cold grips the town, and cases of frostbite and deaths from exposure spike.
Several people note, uneasily, that all this cold makes them ravenous… as if their bodies are desperately trying to supply enough fuel to keep them warm._
-
The window for crops long gone, Telli's shifted her focus around Norwick to guarding the Storehouse and making her patrols around the town to aid the guards in anything needed. From the mundane to the elaborate, no chore is viewed beneath the stout dwarven patronage to Chauntea.
-
_For weeks now the weather has held to a cold but uneventful pattern… even the mists seem to have slackened in deadliness, reducing to just chill damp air. At least, when many people are around. There have been disappearances, and rumors...
The raids on the gates, so regular, have dropped to a trickle.
Some hope that perhaps the threat has passed.
Others say that rather, attention has shifted from Norwick to another target... and once that target has been dealt with..._

Malika watches the speeches and goings on in the town and slowly shakes her head
She mutters softly, "Why wouldn't they listen to us? Those damn elves."
Then she walks back to the woods, holding her cloak tight to her body.
-
When Scout Brendel is in Town, he can still be seen touring the watch posts, sharing a joke, or the latest news from the Rawlins with the other Militia.
Though he sees any Dark looks passed his way, and most certainly hears any angered murmurs; he leaves them unaddressed. He will not let racism born of ignorance goad him from his duty.
…although he can be seen questioning any elves he meets in the area about any "incident" concerning a burning Temple.

Telli watches from the distance sighing audibly as steam billows from her nostrils into the chilled air. Once she catches the familiar Z walking off towards the crafting hall she waddles after him to offer aid handing out supplies and offering blessings to those homes they stop by, attempting to bolster Chauntea's grace further. Much jubilation is felt as more food is plucked from the fridged climates each day. One might speculate just how many more crops will survive this winter rush before the cold claims the crops for the season. To any concerned farmers, children, or passerby Telli's quick to smile and mutter the following.
"Wull spread it out so it'll lasts… don'ts yuh folks worry... wull be smartedededs and store whats we can fer how longededs we cans... wull starts jarrings and preservings whats we cans toos so we gottededs somes a dese boons a Chauntea in da late winter months!

Makededs ems kids eats ems brussel sprouts and peas and dems ones dey nots likedededs so much. Dough... wid a hungry belly I betcha not be so big prollem.

Member ta stoppedededs by da storehouses each mornings fer yuhs supplies fer da days okee..."
The following morning Telli stretches as she rises just before daybreak. Knowing the long day at hand she waddles across Norwicks dirt roads to the storehouse set up by Dwin and drags along her Legionaries whom accompanied her there. As the two work with those provided by Dwin and ultimately Norwick at the enterance. Telli waddles into the back and sighs as she looks at the small portions harvested so far. She begins whispering blessings to Chauntea as she stuffs simple carrots and peas and cabbage into crates along with other mundane vegetables and a few fruits as well.
@896841083e:
Create Food and Water
Conjuration (Creation)
Level: Clr 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: Food and water to sustain three humans or one horse/level for 24 hours
Duration: 24 hours; see text
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: NoThe food that this spell creates is simple fare of your choice—highly nourishing, if rather bland. Food so created decays and becomes inedible within 24 hours, although it can be kept fresh for another 24 hours by casting a purify food and drink spell on it. The water created by this spell is just like clean rain water, and it doesn’t go bad as the food does.
As Telli waddles out to hand the crates to one of the Legionaires or Norwick guards lending aid, she's quick to remind them to let each family needing a crate to know the following.
_"Somes a da crops ain't do so goods in dis weader so… makededs sures yuhs heed Telli's advice froms afore eh? Juss takedededs whatcha needededs ta feed yer house and yer house alones okee... and eats everytings yuhs takedededs... don'ts be wastefuls nows... will deny da food ta some'un dats needededs its... if der little bit dats not finishedededs... dumps da remainders in da trash. Buh...try eat all yuh cans... when nights comedededs and afore yuhs go ta bed... dump whatcha gots lefts in da trash....and comededes backs ta da Storehouse fer yuh next mornings batch.
Telli repeats this job each day for the next following weeks. Blessings of food to provide for the day and the rest of the days spent jarring and storing the fresh crops they were able to pluck so far from the fridged ground.
((I'll check next time I'm in game, but Telli can cast create food several times I believe to a total of 259 people fed in a day through this method. I'll strip any spells from my 3rd circle selections for a while… They should be blank and any DM's are welcome to check my spell selections if they can to make sure my spells match my posting here.))_

_Oddly enough, few of the commoners seem in a mood to praise the cold. Meye's oration gets a few dark looks and some muttering, particularly among the farmers.
Others seem rather frightened and willing to praise Auril if that's what it takes to get the weather to improve.
Rumor now begins to swirl that the current downturn is the result of an elf setting fire to an Aurilite church and burning the priests alive. Some dismiss this as exaggeration or myth, others say they heard it confirmed by someone who knew someone who was there. Regardless, some of the locals are now starting to give elves unfriendly looks in the street as they hurry through the chill air._

After his delivery, Z is seen heading towards the Great Hall to request a one-on-one meeting with the Chancellor.

Z shakes his head and says nothing, but it is evident that he does not approve of the Aurilian priestess or her words.
