Foul weather

  • Telli's spells seem quite effective at driving away the mist. For several hours anyway.

  • Dwin looks down at Caelian and makes a gesture of thanks with his hands

My apologies to you and the rest of the Circle for not having named you as well.

Everyone, please know that our neighbors, the Druids of the Circle, are likewise working tirelessly against these foes as well, and many new levels of cooperation have been forged between us. We all look forward to the fruits of these new, or reformed friendships when this is all over with!

  • Caelian nods at the words Dwin speaks

Well put, Chancellor. The Circle is doing what it can as well to aid in this time of need.

  • The Chancellor speaks to anyone that will listen from the fire in the center of Norwick-town.

Friends and Neighbors of Norwick! Listen to my words… I will not keep you long, I promise.

We have once again found ourselves threatened by various evils beyond our gates he makes a sweeping motion to the south. May of you gray-beards will remember the old-town and a similar evil mist that warped its ways into our realm. I will not lie... this is just as dangerous!

I beseech you al to stay indoors when the mists come! If any of you would feel safer, we have several other options available:

    • you can come here to the Great Hall. We all gathered here last time the mists were upon us, and those that did were saved. In the old days, this is where all Norwick people came in times of trouble... and nothing is different now.

    • You can gather with Telli, the Mighty Chauntean Priestess at her Shrine. We are lucky--and blessed-- to have faithful folks like Telli, Wog of the Kelemvorites, and even some Priests of Lathander with us. Listen to them! Follow their words and light! They are here to help lead us through these dark days and give us the strength to face our troubles!

    • You are all also welcome to move to the Dwarven Hold. Our neighbors--my kin-- have discussed this matter and are opening their gates to any Norwick-folks that need shelter. Know that they, too, are part of this realm, and that we are all in this together. Their supplies are not bottomless, nor are anyone's, so bring what you can with you should you choose to seek shelter.

I can assure you all that we are doing everything we can to combat these foes, and I feel that a victory--through various alliances-- is close at hand! What we need from all of you is strength of heart and mind... and of course... anyone that can wield a blade or axe should do their duty and help the Militia in this time!

Know that there is a shrine to the Ice-Queen, Auril, being built south of the lake. I know that we all pray to Auril to keep the frosts off of our food-stuffs and to be kind to our animals. Thus, we must in kind respect her shrine and not desecrate it in any fashion. In return, her faithful have promised their help against this wretched Hungry One... who mis-ues the very cold winds that She herself has created. People of Norwick... know that allies and friends can often be found in odd places!

Keep close to your loved ones, stay warm, and stay inside during the misty-times. Come gather in the warmth of the Halls or the Dwarven Hold, or the other places mentioned should you choose. We will triumph over these threats as we always do, and we will once again grow and prosper as we are accustomed!

  • When heard Telli pats the local on the back with a sincere smile

"If only Chauntea and da likedededs would calls us each ta her bosom. "

On a related note, news spreads that some of the crops planted for the chilled season are beginning to near ripeness. Farmers and workers flock to pick what they can before the fridged bitter cold plucks them from the earths warm embrace. Telli has since shifted her efforts from helping with the individual crops to huddling near the Altar to Chauntea. The two Legionaries whom accompanied her months ago are sent each to the northern and southern gates as a pair of eyes. As soon as the misty fog is seen one of the posted Legionaries comes full sprint towards the Farming area.

"Major! The fog is in route to the town!"

"Danks privates… go givedededs ems a hands!"

Telli breathes heavily and sets her hands atop the altar before shutting her eyes. The following prayer is echoed out from the altar loud enough for anyone to hear.

"Ohhhhh Chauntea... grant Norwicks da peace deys deservedededs... strips da fog froms dis lands....and strips da fog froms dose dats usededs its ta sneaks and stabs fear inta da heart of yer peoples! Grant Telli da strength ands heart ta seeks yuhs face wid all dese tings... givededs da guards, defenders, and da Legionaries aid... buildededs yer hedge a pertections aroundededs each a dems and make der sword arms true.

Makedededs ders feet like da roots of your mighty trees... don'ts lettededs da Hungry'uns tacts sways dems one way or da oder... keep der hearts, der courage strongedededs as da deepests roots yuh plantedededs in dis lands!"

The chant begin soft and rhythmic until its carried out in a resounding shout to Chauntea's aid and continues for the following ten minutes until Telli goes quiet and keeps her eyes closed.

    @5687351b4f:

    Control Weather
    Transmutation
    Level: Air 7, Clr 7, Drd 7, Sor/Wiz 7
    Components: V, S
Casting Time: 10 minutes; see text
    Range: 2 miles
Area: 2-mile-radius circle, centered on you; see text
    Duration: 4d12 hours; see text
    Saving Throw: None
    Spell Resistance: No
    Season Possible Weather
Spring Tornado, thunderstorm, sleet storm, or hot weather
Summer Torrential rain, heat wave, or hailstorm
Autumn Hot or cold weather, fog, or sleet
Winter Frigid cold, blizzard, or thaw
Late winter Hurricane-force winds or early spring (coastal area)

You change the weather in the local area. It takes 10 minutes to cast the spell and an additional 10 minutes for the effects to manifest. You can call forth weather appropriate to the climate and season of the area you are in.

You control the general tendencies of the weather, such as the direction and intensity of the wind. You cannot control specific applications of the weather—where lightning strikes, for example, or the exact path of a tornado. When you select a certain weather condition to occur, the weather assumes that condition 10 minutes later (changing gradually, not abruptly). The weather continues as you left it for the duration, or until you use a standard action to designate a new kind of weather (which fully manifests itself 10 minutes later). Contradictory conditions are not possible simultaneously.

Control weather can do away with atmospheric phenomena (naturally occurring or otherwise) as well as create them.

A druid casting this spell doubles the duration and affects a circle with a 3-mile radius.

As Telli opens her eyes she lifts her head towards the approaching fog. She bites her tongue softly as she scoops her helmet on and waddles down to the southern gates scythe in hand to clash with whatever trickles out of the fogs safe haven. With each waddled step she watches hopeful that the fog will dissipate with Chauntea's will and blessing asked…

  • Some morbid joking by the locals results about how their only escape from this mess is to go to Kelemvor's waiting embrace, or similar variations on the theme.

  • The Kelemvoreites are letting it known that any citezens of Norwick or local people who do not wish to abide the cold anymore, the threats of attack, escpilly as moral drops, that if they wish to take up tempory residance at the temple of Kelemvor to the north, a safe heaven from attacks, that they are very welcome to use the rest rooms and cots avalabiale providing they obey temple rules. The guards at the temple have been instructed to help any who wish to accept the offer

  • _The fogs are growing more common, and the attacks within them more savage. Some days it feels like there's always a construction detail heading south to replace the gates.

The chill mist seems to get everywhere, creeping under doors and in windows. The only exception is the area around the new Shrine to Chauntea, and the fields blessed by her clergy.

Deaths begin; one man torn to pieces as he walked through a dense clump of fog, ripped to bits by an unseen growling beast. Another woman is stabbed to death by corrupted goblin sneaks who slip into the town with the mist as cover; they go on to kill a guard and several livestock before being slain by militia.

Fear grows, but some point out that with every attack, members of the Troff Legion, the Order of the Divine Shield, and the Order of the Watchful Repose can be seen guarding the gates, taking the worst of the attacks and turning them back.

Still, a sense of doom begins to grow over the town… as if a great scythe was being raised over it, and soon would be brought slashing down._

  • During the fog Belma'r illigely goes invisible and ignores the winter wolves and other night terrors and waits for the Goblins to come in. He hits them hard and fast with large ball of electricity lighting up the nightfog. Magic arrows of acid and force stream form him into the golbins as well, to any goblins that live long enough to run away the hin is obviously hasted. When his spells run dry he flees to the inn to sleep away the rest of the fog hoping he did enough to help, and also hoping his breaking the law is overlooked for helping to defend the fields

  • *Telli watches from a ridge near one of the farms as Master Z gives his speech and makes his presence more known throughout the farming area. At night the two legionaries whom accompanied Telli to Norwick give him aid in his patrols of the farmlands while Telli and the other frmers and workers keep the farmlands well patrolled during the daytime.

A couple new signs stick out of the soil throughout the farmlands and anyone spotting the individual in question are prompted to notify Telli or Master Z as soon as possible.

With the addition to fog and undead and wolven blight nw felt the following warning and warm words are given by the earthmothers maidservant.

"Masta Z couldn't a saidededs its betta… we gottas stays strongs and havedededds our roots firmer dens deys eva beens folks. Wid dis durn fog comings... I wants spotters wid sharp eyes watchings da skys in pairs. Soon as fogs seens I want word spread and farmers, workers, and da likes ta batten da barn doors shuts and gits ta cova... Telli's gonna meet dis farkings fog when it comes ta dis town and gonna do whateva it takes ta send da blight backs ta where it camedededs froms...

Wid blessing a Chauntea and her pertections mebbe we can fend dis fog off likededs we has every oder damnable ting ta creep outta da souths..."

The following mornings prayers follow the same routine as this fog persists. Telli gathers up all the workers and farmers into a huddled circle as she whispers prayers of Bless and Protections from Evil to those gathered. As Norwick farmers, workers, and volunteers seek shelter she waddles with her scythe drawn headfirst towards the mist. Clutching her pendant of Chauntea since restored she'll attempt to turn any dead as well as whisper blessings of Undeath to Death. If all else fails she puts to use her scythe where blessings directly fail.

  • _Meye Spark has been seen going through Aurilians in the town, talking them face to face. She does not bring any secrecy in to conversation, but instead it can be often heard of her telling that now it is time for faihtfuls of Frostmaiden to act. Time for them to start offering help for town of Norwick, as enemy is striking with means of blade, magic and weather.

Each and every time she is also heard to end the discussion to the words_

**"I sayeth no how thee areth to act. Whimsical are ways of the Icedawn so whimsical is ways of Her servants. Thee do what thy skills are most useful. But as can be ice and cold called when needed by those whom are blessed by Her, so haveth the ice and cold of Her faithfuls called by Her to help this town in war.

Whimsical! Be whimsical as winter breeze! Be whimsical but thee haveth been summoned for now. I sayeth no how thee areth to act, but I sayeth to thee, it is time to act. Now."**

  • ICC

The Herald and ten men in full battle rattle show up in Norwick and head to the Great Hall. Their colors proclaim them to be Grey Blades. ((MOB willing, of course))

  • @e2d8e1af63=Speedy_Z_:

After a very long absence, the farmer and crafter simply known as "Z" returns through Norwick's north gate. After a brief visit to his fallowed farm, he heads towards the Norwick Craft Hall…

    Brrr... It's colder 'n I remember...

*After catching up on some of the news revolving around the recent cold snap and Telli's efforts to keep the crops alive, Z heads to the farmlands to help.

He calls a townhall meeting (with food and drink from his own stores) to discuss their specific needs (food, warm clothing, coal to burn, etc.). He reassures them that through their hard work, their courage, and their faith in Chauntea they will see their way through this ordeal.*

We are people of the earth and, like the earth, our lives are hard. We knew it would be when we chose to live this life and work the land.

We take pride in hard work; it makes us strong. We work hard and we play hard, but we also fight hard. We fight for our families, we fight for our friends, we fight for our farms, our lives, and our livelihood. And we don't quit.

Our faith in the Earthmother and our faith in each other will see us through this test. We will be strong, we will help each other as a family, as a community, and we will overcome this challenge - we always have and we always will.

Z ends the meeting with individual blessings and a group prayer to Chauntea, the Earthmother.

*During the day, he roams from farm to farm to preach, to pray, to bless crops, and to aid the farmers in any way he can.

He is often seen praying near the shrine that Telli had built.

He advertises to young adventurers that he will purchase coal from them and/or accept donations on behalf of the farmers.

At night, he spends most of his time on patrol, making sure the farms are safe and secure. He also spends time in the Union Hall crafting extra warm cloaks and blankets for the farmers and their families.*

  • *Wog, dressed in full kelemvorite armour strides into Norwick followed by a preist and two paladins.

On arrival they head into the great hall, shortly after the two paladins head to the top of the hill overlooking the south gate, and the preist heads into friar freds.

When asked they claim "Norwick is in trouble, we are here to help, Paladins to protect the town from undead, and the preist to tend to any dieing or heal the wounded alongside Kia."

Wog often stands at the south gate alongside the paladin on shift, chatting and giving watch.

He also lets it known, if any wish to leave the town at present, in fear of the cold or the attackers, the temple of Kelemvor nea the crossroads is open to any who seek refuge aslong as they obey the temple rules.*

  • ::A figure rides into Norwick, mounted upon a massive steed, in the figures arm is a Banner bearing the symbol of the Order of the Divine shield. Behind him are several other armoured figures, their armour resplendent in the light. Those that come near them feel a sense of courage return to their hearts. Dismounting the Figure makes his way to the Town Hall::

  • _Several times in the past few days, a chill, clammy fog has drifted into Norwick, freezing the marrow from anyone caught in it. Most people start barracading themselves in their houses the moment it appears, especially when word gets around of the shapes in it.

Unnerved townsfolk and farmers huddle in the Grapevine, talking of ghostly wolves loping down the middle of the town through the fog, and of clumps of mist that suddenly attack, draining the life from their victim.

Several mages and defenders have fought such horrors and worse as the fogs persist; some hopefully say that ways have been found to temporarily disperse them.

On top of this, word spreads that demon-tainted goblins have used the fog to slip into town over the walls, the mist hiding them from the normally watchful guards. Hunted down and killed, they nevertheless slew five commoners first.

Oldtimers speak grimly of the last killer fog to hit Norwick… Old Norwick, the now-abandoned town. Hesitantly, more and more people start to speculate that the new town may need to be abandoned as well; that the town is doomed._

  • @2d3ee80a8a=ArUlric:

_Adding to the bizarre assaults on Norwick in the last days, weeks and months, a fresh hell and new horror has been visited on the slack-mandible locals of the burgh. Carrying a rusty-rustic looking scythe, a blonde dwarven figure waddle-pegs around town brashly hauling strangers and introducing herself as "Telli". No simple blonde hair this, however, but a radiant, candy-bright corkscrew curl wig framing Mercy's puggish ugliness in lewd and ludicrous parody of the authentic Telli. Draped in a filthy, greenish cloak, the stealthy Mercy proceeds to dispense medical and agricultural advice in Telli's name.

These include, amongst other suggestions, inciting those suffering from the pangs of hunger to "prod them a pinecone up yer corkhole tae keep'ee feelin' full durin' th' lean weeks o' summer, yarr? Yon be a free drop o' advice fer Telli, yer favourite titstand an' cockroacher." To another, she suggests that simple manuring of crops is insufficient, and instead the Goddess suggests that local babies should be lashed to "shite dispensers" around "Chauntea's holy … er ... planty things" and regularly squeezed better to restore the nutrients to the soil. Added to these fraudulent Chaunteaisms, Mercy - the blonde bombshell - also makes a bold and sticky stab at hawking "holy" vials which she claims are curative but also have erotic applications. Close inspection of these bottles - which contain a phlegm like, viscous substance - will reveal a label marked

"Telli's Weepin' Gash Ungent. Free refill. May contain nuts..."_

Word of Mercy's buffoonery finally reaches Telli as she waddles the farming area making sure the hag's venom hadn't spread too far. Those claiming vile sickness are restored as soon as she's able.

  • _Meye Spark is seen to spend lots of her time in Norwick, having a faint smile on her face most of the time. Whenever she notices any of those visitors, she greets them and introduces herself, after which she takes them aside for discussion.

She can be heard offering them possibility to be escorted to the cave, even though she states that there are still some construction works on going and if they wish to stay there before those are finished, they may camp outside.

For those who are not wishing to camp outdoors while waiting she points to the inn which she is heard to tell to be very high quality one._

  • Telli notes a lot of the newcomers and waddles off with purpose to find Dwin as soon as she can.

  • There seem to be an increasing number of visitors in town prone to wearing white and blue, many with a snowflake motif. Most seem uninclined to cause trouble, but several can be heard inquiring of guards or shopkeepers about the location of a cave in the woods, and what dangers they can expect traveling there.
