Dattian Hellfire

Dattian Hellfire was raised as little more than a commoner, originally born under the name of Lyell Wood. His father was a failing merchant who loved Dattian more than anything else in the world, showering his son with love and gifts when the month afforded. He lived a relatively normal life until he reached the age of nineteen when he discovered the chepok plant, whose leaves when ingested, bring about extraordinary effects. Under the effect of the chepok leaves Dattian underwent deep trances where visions and false revelations plagued his mind. The plant ensnared him and he bent to its will, turning his back on his family and living on his own in the woods for quiet some time as he tried to come to a better understanding of not only the world, but himself. But Dattian, unaware, was being watched. Cyric took notice of the boy and realized how malleable his mind had become.
One night, the prince of lies infiltrated Dattian’s visions, filling his head with ideas of an all and powerful god who holds the truth to everything in this world, whose power outmatches that of all the other gods combined. Dattian’s visions became darker and he lost sight of himself, and instead became obsessed with discovering this deity’s identity. Eventually Cyric revealed himself to the boy and promised Dattian power and knowledge beyond his comprehension if he only would follow his way. Dattian succumbed to the prince of lies and began submitting to Cyric’s will.
He stole, murdered, and lied, all in the name of the black sun. For twelve years he faithfully followed his master, his mind slipping further and further away from him as he spiraled into insanity. One night, Cyric commanded Dattian in one of his visions to seek out a town known as Norwick and await further instructions. So Dattian set out on the road, hated by all he stumbled upon. Barley making it to Norwick with his life he now eagerly awaits the dark sun to command him once again…
