Whispers at the Fire

  • Adventurers into the Rawlins have reported various sightings of a young woman, sculking, sneaking, following them about….
when confronted the young woman smiles slyly and mentions that they should watch their backs a bit better.

  • Rumor spreads that the chancellor and guard at the south gate were assaulted by a goblin of great power or cunning before the last huge assault at the gates. Two guards were serioulsy injured and two had their skins tossed over the walls before the assault. The goblin mage escaped into the wood it seems.

  • Two druids named Wolf and Raisa were seen leading many deer outside the gates of Norwick. They were helped by a strange merchant named Alexi. It seems the chancellor has had a little problem of animals getting into town and asked the three to lead them out so they would not have to be killed. The chancellor asks that "everyone" remember to close the southern gate so things like this do not happen again.

  • A sturdy but nimble elf strides through the town, quietly taking stock of defenses, and conversing briefly with gate guards and archers. He disappears into the barracks for a few minutes before heading into the Rawlins.

  • _A group of battered and extremely cranky-looking druids are seem manhandling a small, struggling figure… a hin or a gnome... into town, through town, and finally into Friar Fred's. A truly awful smell trails after them.

They are shortly afterwards seem, looking even more battered than before, hauling the hin or gnome (whose head is now encased in a block of stone) into the militia barracks._

  • A small group of adventurers fended off a small force of goblins that attacked the southern gate. They followed a trail that led to the southern abandoned cave, where they met resistance by more goblins. But, the goblins were surprisingly clever and sprung an ambush on them, trapping them in the cave with a giant umberhulk. They managed to defeat the ambush force and return to town without further incident. Some of the adventurers warn others that umberhulks were seen wandering out in the woods, dangerously close to town.

((Thanks Herrold for having my character feel a real sense of danger in a long while 🙂 ))

  • Dwin is seen talking to his old friend Frago and trying to ascertain why he was put in any type of situation that might have harmed his business. He leaves it that he will folow up and get back to him. A small sack of coins trades hands.

  • Talk has been circulating of a rather awkward incident in which Alexi was trapped naked in Frago's cage. While the known troublemaker protested his innocence, Frago vocally complained to those around, demanding his arrest for attempted parrot theft as well as indecent behavior. The chancellor's sister tried to reason with the shopkeeper, but Frago didn't budge until a militia member came by. Maythor took the suspect into custody, but released him with a minor fine for trespassing.

On a possibly related note, a tenday later Frago's business was temporarily halted. The gnome could be heard loudly complaining about Riannon, business permits, and 'failure to properly secure animals for sale.' A recent reinspection of the stall has seen Frago's business return to normal, after the better part of a month on hiatus.

    • Rumors spread of man in black wielding two war hammers appearing in town then disappearing just as soon as he arrived leaving some goblins bodies on the ground a he goes*

  • Three human men and a halfling woman were seen coming from the hobgoblin cave in the Nars Pass carrying two bodies, a keg, a large box of goods, and sacks of ore.

The rumour around town is that the bodies were of two traders who were heading north in the Nars pass on their way to meet with dwarven clients. They were ambushed, killed, and looted by the dirty hobber bandits who plague the pass.

The travellers happened upon the traders' wagon on the road to Peltarch, and followed the bloody hobgoblin trail back into the cave where they eventually recovered some of the trade goods and the bodies.

Word travels that Tristina attempted to pray for the return of the traders' souls, but they did not wish it. They were from far in the south and had no family in Norwick. The adventuring group paid for their burial.

  • Four hins headed south recently to search the Rawlinswood for a missing Silver Valley resident. They fear she may have been kidnapped. After several failed attempts to question bugbears and a thorough search of the towers in the southwest woods, the brave four return to Norwick disappointed, but not without hope that one day the missing hin would be found.

  • _Townsfolk report that Maythor Troff, Kim Adderglee, and Droigo Nimbletoes held the South Gate of Norwick for the space of a day against waves of goblins, bugbears, and a trio of umber hulks. All three were badly hurt, but none fell.

The pile of goblin corpses in front of the gate reached hin-height, and the market in masterwork shortswords is said to be glutted…_

  • _Rattled witnesses report a confrontation between a follower of Talos, perhaps a druid by their weapon and armor, and a cadaverous woman in black and gold plate armor smelling of old death.

Veiled threats were exchanged, and then their respective gods got into the act, with Talos pointedly dropping bolts of lightning and shaking the earth, and the armored woman's diety sheathing her in a pillar of radiant blue light and causing spirits to rise from the ground.

Finally the cause of their quarrel, a hapless Kara-Turian man, fled the scene and the two parted without blood being shed._

  • Dwin reurns to town from JIyyd with a concerned and weary look on his face. Rumor has it that a major battle was fought in the plains and that more than one notable Legionnaire met their maker.

Dwin orders some Norwick Scouts to go on surveillance missions in the plains and doubles the guard on Norwick Hill, just in case the orcs get a bit too feisty.

  • Ezachiel visited the Chancellor recently too, one might guess about Alexi as well, but during his visit there was no shouting, and he left the Chancellor's office with a vague smile on his face.

  • _A female knight was to be seen visiting the Boarshead.

Some say she had a discussion with the chancellor himself.
And that the discussion was about a man being held in jail.

Many seems to agree about hearing loud voices.

Everyone that talks about this coversation mentions that the door to the room where the conversation were held was slammed shut with a major force as the knight was leaving the area.

The man in the jail had a visitor that went there at least two times.
That visitor was a female knight._

  • ((

I have removed this post because it made many assumptions based on IG actions that were simply false and never took place. It crossed the line as far as dictating NPC actions and should have been discussed with me (the main subject) and a DM before it was posted.

  • The Commander of the Guard was recently seen dragging a barely concious man wearing a silly bird like helm off towards the barracks.

Shortly after, he returned and took the testimony of several witnesses who helpfully signed the arrest record.

Rumor has it that the offender was acting disorderly and possibly threatening arson throughout the town.

  • After hearing the rumors of the undead animals, Senria confirms that the group did indeed take down the gnome and its troupe of undead beasties, but recalls that it was only her and another holding the front, due to comrades aiding a fallen member, until the undead gnome showed up. The gnome then proceeded to threaten the defenders with the name of some supposed vengeful person or god, giving the option of either leaving or dying. The headstrong group opted for choice number three and proceeded to beat the daylights out of the small foul creature. Upon its death, the creature crumbled into dust, which blew away in the breeze. It was almost as if it hadn't been there at all….
