Whispers at the Fire

  • _Anyone nearish to Norwick can hear strange noises one night.

It seems to be hobgoblins, singing and cheering. The name "Vert" is constantly heard and cheered, whilst those with some recognition of goblinoid hear many mentions of "dumb humans" and "clever hobgoblins"._

  • Elf and Militiaman Havon is now infrequently seen without his young daughter at his side since the recent troubles with Silver Valley. Where he goes, she follows, and he seems to be extra wary, typically keeping the little girl in between his great shield and himself wherever they go.

  • A scarred dwarf walks into Tuck-Me-Inn cursing and muttering in dwarven. Disin looks over his shoulder to see Beourn approaching the counter and immediately sets a foaming mug in front of the obviously agitated dwarf.

"What seems t'be the problem, kin?" Disin quickly asks, who would rather not clean up after a dwarven outburst of rage.

Beourn downs the ale instantly and slams the mug on the counter. His scarred face still twisting in anger. Disin quickly refills the mug.

"The stinkin' fishmen tunnels finally get cleared.. An' not only did I find stinkin' fishmen.. I found meself surrounded in darkness by damned Oscuran casters!" Beourn roars as he downs the dark ale. He calms a bit as Disin refills the mug.

"An' I'm sure one o' them damned humans was Kyan. I'd heard some rumors about the lad, wasn't sure meself.. Now he's got me straight axe t'deal with if he still feels like causin' trouble! As fer the other caster…"

Beourn shrugs and downs the mug of ale.

"His sword was drippin' acid.. he looked the usual Oscuran type.. depressed."

Beourn gets out several gold pieces and lays them on the counter, then gets out his pipe and hangs it from his scarred lips.

"I've not hit a vein o' copper in nearly a month. Me patience is worn thin.. Now's not the time t'be testin' me!"

Beourn snarls as he hits two small stones together sending sparks into the bowl of his pipe, then stomps out of the Tuck-Me-Inn, his pipe leaving a faint trail of smoke behind him.

Disin waits a moment after the door slams shut behind Beourn, then sighs in relief at the sight of his bar still in one piece.

  • There was another attack on South Gate yesterday. It started with a goblin assassin sneaking inside the town and killing a militia guardsman. Olwyn Wyvernskull, the paladin of Helm, caught and killed the cretin, and then went to south gate to organize the defenses. Legion Private Romulus was there, along with two sturdy dwarves: Gnarl and Beourn. Olwyn brought two Norwick guardsmen armed with axes and shields to stiffen the defense.

The attack, when it came, proved to be relatively minor: three umberhulks and a half dozen goblin soldiers, one shaman. They were easily dispatched by the defenders. While the Norwick company waited for more, the two militia guards got bored and went outside to shoot hawks for fun. Gnarl and Beorn drifted away too. Olwyn and Romulus remained on guard until dawn. No further attacks came.

  • Eluriel is happy to say that she can show Imril some in the nearby Rawlins and cut or set taps as required.

  • _Rumors circulate around the village that an Elf, calling himself Imril, is interested in anyone who might have information on where to find large groves or stands of Maple trees. He claims to offer any lumberer, woodsman, or Ranger with such knowledge 20 gold for such information.

Also, it is heard that an Elf with a red cloak has been seen buying every kettle, pot, and large bowl he can get his hands on._

  • _It appears that Sabbas, the meek monk, has taken to the South Gate, never leaving, even sleeping in the dirt, and merely living off tiny morsels of bread and water.

The sword that once sheathed on his back seems to be gone too.

He doesn't really speak, unless questions of Tyr or justice arise._

  • Eluriel reports umberhulks above the Ostromines

  • Apparantly a less than merry band of bugbears were encountered at the Goblin Hold by an adventuring group, lead by the strikingly tall guardsman Cecil Northman. As one rumour has it, bugbear heads were lopped off left and right by the guardsman's golden sword, before the group fell back against the veritable beehive of angry goblins also stirred up in the assault!

  • Word going around the fires of Norwick is that the militia is looking for some adventurers to take care of an unofficial task.

//I’ll be running something for a low/mid lvl party this night (around 20:00 São Paulo time).

  • Ardent briefly wonders, upon hearing this rumor, if Junior is somehow mashing up her encounters with Jin with her encounters with bugbears.

  • Legion

Junior spreads word among the militia and other Norwick regulars that a bugbear visited the gate without hostilities. She goes on to say that he wanted to warn everyone that a 'Merry band of magic bugbears plans to attack Norwick with their mind powers'

Dwarfs work hard to build another gate, at the South of Norwick

Gnarl Horst was seen entering Norwick carrying a good ammount of wood. Hours later, all that wood was prepared, and made available to the working dwarves in the form of boards and logs for the rebuild of the South gate

  • Tales are heard at the inn late one night of a goblin camp in the woods trails to the west of Norwick. Apparently a goblin camp with a hobgoblin overseer was in charge. But with the death of all, none can knwo exactly there purpose there.

Kalem put out the word though that he is looking for a priest of Illmater who might be interested in some odd items found at the camp.

  • _Rumors spread that about a month or so ago several rather tired, worn, and dirty looking folks came wandering in through the south gate in a daze. Among them was Ardent, scout of Norwick who had not been seen for several days, along with several others.

One elf in particular, when asked by some where they had come from, stated rather boldly, that the group had been through the Underdark…..All Of It! Or so was his claim.

This may have been the case, as some of the townsfolk noticed the party divvying up a rather substantial pile of treasure, before all wandering off in their separate ways._

Dwarfs work hard to build another gate, at the South of Norwick

  • Word ripples through the town of a recent visit by a white dragon, but no talk of an attack. Instead most tales have the dragon soaring north a short time later with the well known ranger Rasuil sitting high on its back.

  • Moira is seen praying at the Temple of Chauntea an awful lot lately. Unusual for her, she is dressed in a fine, flowing robe with her hair combed neatly and worn loose past the shoulders.

  • Rumor spreads a young girl who seems rather cold and emotionless seen walking around inquiring to the locals about the history of the Norwick Graveyard and where she might find more information on such. A scythe on her back and the symbol of Jergal about her neck.

  • As night fell on Norwick’s Gates, rain started to pour down and a playful wind blew the long hair of women all around. A typical night…. Or wasn’t it? As time passed, the night got darker and darker, lightning from the rain did not shiny the sky as they should, people south of the valley had to squint their eyes to see a few inches ahead of them.

The large group of people that insisted on staying by the gates was suddenly struck by a complete lack of light, the area around them darker than a dwarf’s room. Something wicked that way went.

As the absence of light lasted, a series of shadowy figures started pouring out. If those more subtle signs of an attack were disregarded, these things had everyone’s attention. The battle was on, into the dark blades and spells were used against those attackers… yet more showed up.

A feminine male elf stood still in the middle of the field, letting his companions fight, while he was focused on a different task. As the fight went on, he stood still, eyes closed in complete concentration.

He then headed east, coming back a few hours ago.

What he said when he got back?…. well.. you know wizards, they always have a way of saying things in a more complicate way than needed. What he found was a place that had some sort of lingering ritualistic spell capable of extending the reach of summoning enchantments.

As for who or what did that, no one knows, but yet, no one tried to figure that out…..
