Whispers at the Fire

The emphatic battle cry of an enraged dwarf can be heard frequently west of the gates. An old grim-faced dwarf is often seen coming from the woods badly wounded and covered in blood. Quiet and seemingly detached, he walks through the gates and into the Hold. Not long after, the growling dwarf stomps furiously through the south gate, back into the woods trying to concede to the grim truth.

A harried looking young woman escapes from the Grapevine!! She returns the next day, soaking wet, blueskinned, and looking for all the world like an almost drowned Puppy
-
An old dwarf has been seen wondering around Norwick, mostly drinking ale at the Grapevine watching the front door of the inn intently. The eager dwarf has been heard asking commoners if they know the whereabouts of his sword wielding son, Beourn.

@520d1432aa=ClownBaby:
Beourn passed away last night after succumbing to his wounds from several hook horrors and magic eaters. He leaves everything in his possession to Vanderkaus.
Yana sadly relays to Vanderkaus that she has Beourn's things, and to see her when he is able

Rumor is that the party at Maria's tower was crowded, there was music, singing and a lot of laughs. Known people such as High Priest Rith or the loremaster Val Kyrie were present, as they were some celestials, even a celestial Avoral showed up briefly some say…....
*Maria´s Tower Grand opening party was a success! Part of its success was due to Maria´s big circle of friends, and the other part due the the way it was properly announced all over the region. From Peltarch to Norwick, everyone was aware of the scheduled party. Rumor has it that news of her Tower Grand Opening party traveled all the way till Damara and Thesk Region, it even reached the most Western costal citys of Faerun, such as Waterdeep… Baldur´s Gate and Candlekeep…... *
(( ))

_Rumor is that the party at Maria's tower was crowded, there was music, singing and a lot of laughs. Known people such as High Priest Rith or the loremaster Val Kyrie were present, as they were some celestials, even a celestial Avoral showed up briefly some say.
It's also said, that the party was interrupted by a large force of hobgoblins trying to take the tower. The hobgoblins were defeated quickly.
Some people that went to hobgoblins lands some hours later came back to town speaking about hundreds of hobgoblin corpses, most of them burnt. Not a single hobgoblin they could find there alive…. maybe some mage got mad at the hobgoblins..._

María is lately rarely seen around, and when you see her, she looks somewhat tired, as if she was missing a day of sleep and she doesn't stop to talk to anyone whatsoever.
-
Rumours quickly spread through Norwick that the respected town healer and Corporal in the Troff Legion, Calendel, was struck drown during a trip into the lost city by a giant stone Dragon and although attempts were made to by the great Cleric Vanderkaus, they were in vain and he remained in the Netherworld hopefully alongside Chauntea to forever assist her from the otherside.
((For those that don't know, I have retired the PC and have yet to decide which of my other PCs (perhaps a new one?) will become my new main))
-
Rumor has it that the late Senator Redralen's widow was seen in Norwick, at the rock they used to sit on together. Though it's said she kept to herself, rumor states that others approached her and someone even handed her something. Though accounts may vary, most would state her visit was short-lived.

One of the redcloaks, that really tall one, seems to be wearing that noble looking outfit he got a while back pretty often, sporting a big golden sword. Funny though, the outfit looks like real armor this time… Huh. Wasn't he the one who hated all the hero jokes?
-
A blue-robed halfling woman has been loitering in the Grapevine Inn, staying mostly to herself, meditating and reflecting in front of the fireplace when it will not disturb other guests. Occasionally the urge to stretch and run compels her to step outside, but after a while she returns and continues to wait patiently.
-
With things seemingly calmer at the gate, people are getting up to other things, it can heard to be said. Even… Gasp could it be?
Guardsman Cecil may very well have some new rumors about him... but that can't be right? Can it? He's -way- too shy for that kind of thing... isn't he?
-
_Calendel as usual has been daily visiting the farmers and providing blessings of Chauntea upon them, their crops, and their livestock so that the Fall Harvest may be grand.
He invites them and the other townfolk to stop by the Temple of Chauntea for his sermons and handouts to the needy and less fortunate as all are welcome in the arms of the Earth Mother.
Additionally rumour has it that Calendel has been asking around town if anyone has seen or heard from Chancellor Biswan as of late remarking that it's very unusual for a Chancellor in Norwick to have not been seen or heard for long periods of time… apparently he's also not the only one complaining about a lack of visibility regarding the Chancellor._

Jerrick and his sword… well, all of his swords, seemingly, have been brazenly standing at the south gates more and more often. It seems he's "Back" in one of his usual stints of coming and going. Some may wonder exactly what he gets up to while he's gone...
-
Hushed comments that María has been seen with her face painted with smilies and green dots all over… some people say she was bored, others that she might 've been playing with kids...
Some farmers of the north gate swear having heard a loud scream as she entered the keep...something about a Torn? or Horn? or was it Thorn?

During the depths of night, the defenders of Norwick engaged with slaad residing on the graveyard path. It was indeed a harsh fight with many limping back to the gates afflicted with slaad eggs buried within them. Eventually, a grey priest of Corellan, a senator from Peltarch, a priest of Torm, a scout, and an elven wizard were able to beat back the beasts. Much heated talking was heard at the gates about how to deal with such a foe and despite beating them, none of those seemed victorious. Tension was high.
-
Indeed, during the rumoured night, the snow in Norwick had become a terrible blizzard for a matter of minutes, and the earth shook and rumbled, and abruptly it all stopped, and the snow and horrible cold ceased to be replaced by Norwick's typical rain.
-
The night after fight night was a hectic one, and Guardsman Cecil was busy explaning many things to many people with questions.
The south gates are a bloody mess of gore, blood, and other miscellanous parts… but no adventurer corpses are seen to litter the field. Demons, however...
Imps, quasits, even succubi. All these things were said to have attacked, shortly after the infamous Gardener of Death attacked, and was -almost- taken down by Cecil and his companions at the gate. Almost.
The demon attack started sporadically, and smallish, until a Vrock appeared. It was slain, with Cecil landing the final blow before asking "What was that?" ... when even more arrived, the attack culminating in the arrival of a Balor.
A Solar had come to help before that, and apparently kicked the Balor's ass after a long fight, that shook doors and cupboards in Norwick with it's force.
What a mess... At least the snow seems to have stopped again.

The militia apparently have a new drinking song making the rounds of the guardroom:
@55ffb3c501:
The Norwick Worm
_Locrian he went fishing once, out fishing in the weir
He caught a fish upon his hook he thought looked mighty queer
Now what a kind of fish it was, Locrian couldn't tell
But he didn't like the looks of it, so he hurled it down a wellNow the fish-worm got big and fat and it growed an awful size
With a great big head and great big teeth and great big googly eyes
So then at night it would crawl out a-looking for some booze
Scaring people on the road as it milked a dozen coosThe fearful worm was prone to dine on lambs and calves and sheep
And swallowed little babes alive when they lay down to sleep
So Loc ran up and arrested it, then he cut it in two halves
"That'll stop you eatin' babes, an sheep an lambs an calves, oi."So now you know how all the folks on both sides of the weir
Lost lots of sleep and lots of sheep and lived in mortal fear
So drink a health to Capt'n Loc, who kept the babes from harm
With his quite heroic halving of the famous Norwick Worm!_
