Whispers at the Fire

  • Rumor is that a pair of brave adventurers ventured into the Beholder's cave…and came out alive from it..as proof of their heroic adventure, they were carrying with them some things, including a beholder's eye.

  • Seems that at the south gates, María was extremly pissed, she was shouting and some people claim she threatened someone in a skirt. It's said that she used a spell that made her fists of iron and that she slammed her fist against the archery tower, making it shake….
What caused her to go mad? Some say she's just crazy, others that the man insulted her family...though it's also rumoured that her lisp was mocked...

  • A normally upbeat and generally happy Theron Goss has been in a rather somber and depressed mood as of late. He won't say why really, all he states is that he hopes that one day something he has lost might one day return to him.
He tells his friends that this region no longer holds interest for him now and that he is off to the south on the next boat or Caravan to the Sea of Fallen Stars. He may return one day, but for now must go. He bids farewell and departs.

  • Word quickly spreads that a giant stegadon, one large enough to swallow Grag whole, was felled inside the southern gates. For the time being it is left where it fell until a small contingent of guards arrive to move it elsewhere. Rumour has it that it may be placed near the fair grounds for all to admirer.

((Click HERE to get an idea of how big it was.))

  • Rumors spread about the repeated attacks by the goblins at the south gate of the town. The attacks occur more often and usually at night. Not long ago a man, Dermin, a woman Victoria (both human) and a dwarf, Gnarl have resisted an invasion, which ended quickly and for town's sake.

  • Legion

word would spread around norwick of the un safe crypts. for some reason adventurer's who travel inside them, have the doors locked behind them, making it very hard, if not impossible to escape.

  • Randomly the small stream in front of the Grapvine Inn catches fire, a very odd sight with all the flames burning on the top of the water. Shouts of fire spread and the Inn staff rush out to fight it, startled as it burns out almost immediately, they stand looking a little confused before entering back in to the inn.

  • Rumor has it that Norwick is a mess at the moment. Bugbear bodies all over the gates area, some even inside, are being carted out. The guard Cecil can be seen running about afterwards helping with cleaning and putting away catapults, talking to people, and letting people know that for the half day following the attack, weapons were allowed out, but the law is likely put right back in place after a day.

He begins writing a rather long report out by Timmot, some time after. If asked, he says that some changes need to be made, and hopefully his suggestions might help.

  • _The littlest Town Crier, a small boy who just ten days ago had been struck by lightning and killed whilst praising Amaunator, was out by the South Gate again with a limp and an obvious speech impediment. Adventurers crowded around, concern showing on their faces before he was escorted to the docks and taken north by a bard and a lawman.

He's not been seen in Norwick since.

In other news, said bard has been asking around town about any kin that said boy may have, or the burial plots of his parents._

  • Because of the nature of the attack, the severity and the tactics of Umberhulk tunnels that seemed purely bent on slaying him and him alone - considering the end of the attack once he, the only fatally affected victim of the asault in the attack, Walter has suggested that this may have been the work of Rooves' allies. Or Rooves himself, made noble by Walter so claimed by himself when he gifted the Goblin some coal, and a Goblin charm to highten his standing in the Goblin tribes - so that the Goblin would have an even chance on their next meeting.

  • Rumors spread about an old fashion horned warrior walking the streets of the town. Part of his full plate is rusty, cloak and boots deteriorated. Looks like if he just arrived from a far far away land, that his trip was extremly exhausting. If someone dare to ask his name, he respons immediately without hesitation: Dermin.

  • Legion

word spreads around the fire of a large goblin attack at norwicks south gate. many brave defenders held their ground keeping the goblins out of the town. one brave hero fell in a courageous battle. the wizardly warrior known as walter will now be taken to the temple of lathander to be brought back. the chapters in this brave warriors life will continue to be written.

  • Amauna-who?

  • Norwick guards post signs around town, and child criers announce their purpose: Norwick has a new code of law! The children praise Amaunator and rich employers as they spread the word.

  • Rumours abound that a farmer recently mentioned at the market that he heard from another farmer that heard from a woodsman that heard from a miller that heard from a fisherman whom heard from a tailor that the long departed Calendel was riding along the path to Norwick at a slow pace and that the town might very well see the return of the town healer and former advisor to the former Chancellor! Questions abound… why did he leave? Why is he back? Is his return a gift from Chauntea upon the locals for all their recent hardships? Perhaps these questions will all be answered in due time but they sure provide some excellent gossip around town!

  • A red bearded dwarven Shieldmaiden carrying amulet of Gorm Gulthyn has lately become a common sight in Norwick. In most of the mornings she can be seen to arrive from the Hold, right after her morning prayers and head on her patrol to ensure the safety of the Hold and Norwick.

  • A confrontation was witnessed at South Gate between two outsiders (for lack of a better description). One was Casca, a sometimes Hin "merchant", and Cogg, a beast-looking creature who has aided Narfell's defenders.

Casca called on Cogg to stop interfering in her master's work, and issued Cogg an ultimatum. Cogg, calling on his own master, refused and the two began summoning illusions to threaten each other. At one point, Cogg demanded that Casca leave and said that his request for escalation had been granted, but would unfortunately result in depopulating the area.

Two of the observers, Romulus and Cilwa beat a hasty retreat, but the elf druid Belia admonished the two combatants that they were both going to do the dead star work for the ilithids. Cogg left shortly after, followed by Casca.

  • _Waves upon waves of undead of all descriptions assault the town as a thick fog covers the south gates. Luckily a squad of brave adventurers holds the line, keeping the living dead from overrunning Norwick.

While the battle raged at the gates, shaken witnesses report a huge brawl in the Gravevine between Fendon the Traitor and an elf in a white suit and a mage in a black robe. The elf and mage apparently succeeded in forcing Fendon to retreat, though all who saw it agree it was a close run thing._

  • Wren rides back into town looking very battered but extremely pleased with herself, wearing white armor (is that bone?) and carrying a jug of brandy in one hand and a sack of bear jerky in the other.

  • Woe unto Jimmy the Dwarven Guardsman, the poor quirky spaz has fallen in the defense of our grand town of Norwick. Some terribly composed songs are sung in the Grapevine in his honour.
