Whispers at the Fire

  • Rumours abound that a farmer recently mentioned at the market that he heard from another farmer that heard from a woodsman that heard from a miller that heard from a fisherman whom heard from a tailor that the long departed Calendel was riding along the path to Norwick at a slow pace and that the town might very well see the return of the town healer and former advisor to the former Chancellor! Questions abound… why did he leave? Why is he back? Is his return a gift from Chauntea upon the locals for all their recent hardships? Perhaps these questions will all be answered in due time but they sure provide some excellent gossip around town!

  • A red bearded dwarven Shieldmaiden carrying amulet of Gorm Gulthyn has lately become a common sight in Norwick. In most of the mornings she can be seen to arrive from the Hold, right after her morning prayers and head on her patrol to ensure the safety of the Hold and Norwick.

  • A confrontation was witnessed at South Gate between two outsiders (for lack of a better description). One was Casca, a sometimes Hin "merchant", and Cogg, a beast-looking creature who has aided Narfell's defenders.

Casca called on Cogg to stop interfering in her master's work, and issued Cogg an ultimatum. Cogg, calling on his own master, refused and the two began summoning illusions to threaten each other. At one point, Cogg demanded that Casca leave and said that his request for escalation had been granted, but would unfortunately result in depopulating the area.

Two of the observers, Romulus and Cilwa beat a hasty retreat, but the elf druid Belia admonished the two combatants that they were both going to do the dead star work for the ilithids. Cogg left shortly after, followed by Casca.

  • _Waves upon waves of undead of all descriptions assault the town as a thick fog covers the south gates. Luckily a squad of brave adventurers holds the line, keeping the living dead from overrunning Norwick.

While the battle raged at the gates, shaken witnesses report a huge brawl in the Gravevine between Fendon the Traitor and an elf in a white suit and a mage in a black robe. The elf and mage apparently succeeded in forcing Fendon to retreat, though all who saw it agree it was a close run thing._

  • Wren rides back into town looking very battered but extremely pleased with herself, wearing white armor (is that bone?) and carrying a jug of brandy in one hand and a sack of bear jerky in the other.

  • Woe unto Jimmy the Dwarven Guardsman, the poor quirky spaz has fallen in the defense of our grand town of Norwick. Some terribly composed songs are sung in the Grapevine in his honour.

  • Many strange rumors flood the town, undead, goblins, undead goblins, scary monsters, and even the occasional landshark. Perhaps strangest of all is the rumor that Yngdír the 'grim ranger' as called by some was seen holding his Elfbride by the south gates, and acting giddy as an over-excited schoolgirl at just one taste of what is described as a cookie. How bizarre!

  • Legion

a strange rumor of a pond hag spreads around the fire. word has it that the hag is a protector of the goblins, and that it even resurrected one from the dead.

  • Rumors spread a certain black clad halfie sneak is out of the jail. She was seen briefly stopping by the fire to glance over those gathered, much paler and more nervous than she was when last seen three months ago. Then she turned north, saying something about the Temple of Kelemvor.

  • Legion

rumor spreads norwick was attacked by swarms of cockatrice and displacer beasts.. an odd attack indeed, but even more odd was talk of a magic eater coming by after the attack and releasing the petrification off of the norwicks defenders leaving them unharmed. will we see this kind magic eater again?

  • A large group of adventurers departed into the crypts, including many notable heroes of Narfell, but several came back carried as corpses. Whispers around the taverns and fires speak of a massive fight in the crypts, more terrified voices speak of vampires…

  • ICC

Once again, adventurers and alike have been attacked inside Norwick´s crypt by an unnusual number of undead. However the superior combat tactics used by the adventurers was sufucient to fight off the attackers. At some point, further in into the Crypt, an aprentice to Lich, presented it self before the group of adventurers and delivered a message to them. It seems that a Book, a compendium of a Necromancer´s life time study has been stolen by a tomb raider(s). Now… the Lich wants it back to carry on its macabre research.....

  • Legion

sitting around the fire, you could hear talk of bugbears being able to hear adventurers attack goblins in the forests. to any of those who know how dangerous bugbears can be, this might be an alarm to be much quieter around their areas.

  • Legion

around the fire was talk of a priestess losing favor with her goddess. listening in you could hear she poisoned a river her superiors in the legions ordered her to do. it may ring a bell inside the heads of new and old priests who they should be adventuring with or listening too.

  • Around the fire was much talk of a truce forged between bugbear tribes and the likliehood of this being trouble for Norwick.

    • After hearing of Cecil returning with Ardent, Ky heads to the barracks seeking out Ardent*

  • ICC

As of late, Norwick and the adjacent woods have been said to be haunted at night by a Lich and its undead minions. Rumours has it that said Lich is looking for something that was taken away from it, and now it wants back what is rightfull his…..

  • After a fun Fight Night, Val Kyrie and Wren Halfabrick were seen heading into the Grapevine. Those who went into the inn after them would have heard talk of the old days, of the history of Norwick, and of people long gone. Val seemed to be taking notes, perhaps another one of her famous books is in the writing?

  • The guard Cecil was seen entering town with a prone form over his shoulder. Many would recognize the scout, Ardent.

She didn't seem dead, though her and her were both somewhat injured…

They disappeared into the barracks. Only he came out.

  • Before the planning of the cold cave trip, Cecil and many of those other names defended the gates once more, mostly against profaned undead, and a scattering of casters.

The guard was alterted by Cecil, and came town to aid in the fight.

This time, not a single guard, OR adventurer fell.
