Whispers at the Fire

  • Rumor has it that Nico Black is looking for a few more goods to sell at auction.

  • The Halfling Defence League

Fad, overhearing the dialog, simply facepalms silently

  • Ronan still seems amused by all the backlash. Saying something about "undeciplined children" as he hears about it.

  • ::Rith overhearing the conversation, chimes in briefly::

Even though old Dwin here lacks terribly in diplomacy and his reasoning seems convenient, it is also sensible. There is nothing so far that has shown us a valid reason to trust what those images are displaying.

We don't even know what creates them, so as far as I can tell, they might be tools used by fiends - some of which could be more familiar than others - to toy our minds, leading us to ambushes and setting us against each other. Evil is wicked, and deceitful, and I've seen - and lived- worse tricks than these.

In matters regarding those "visions" I advice to believe what you want, but for now, trust only your gods.

  • The day people start believin' demon-created images over reality is a sad one.

And mark me words… anyone that accuses me of explodin' my own men will have a few less teeth to speak with.

  • _Havon openly admits,

"In the Memory Images, Dwin was indeed involved in the destruction of Sam's Hill. But I suppose this is a matter of egos rather than accuracy."_

  • Dwin chuckles at Benji's re-telling of the story, not quite understanding the Gnomish words, but understanding the gist all the same

Aye, Benji… now that ya retold the tale, I think yer version has the most truth to it. Perhaps ya got a bit o bard-story-teller in ya, eh?

  • Legion

    @d2edbc2a77=SummonerX:

_Former chancellor Dwin was heard yelling at none other than Senator Ronan at the old south gates. The former chancellor spouting threats of harm and of "adding Ronan's hand to his collection of hands." Though the dwarf made no attempt to attack the mage, thinking magic unfair in a "real" fight..

Ronan himself seemed amused by it all. Though the subject that made the former chancellor so mad was something about Sam's Hill…_

    @d2edbc2a77=Clan:

Dwin scoffs at the rumors of the crybaby mage.

If asked, he says he recalls a white-haired dress-wearing wiggler trying to antagonize folks at the south gate, but that it wasn't much of a big deal; unless of course you are mage prone to self-image issues and insecurities, perhaps.

When challenged to an actual "man" fight to settle whatever inner-anal issues the mage is dealing with, apparently the good Senator fled the scene.

At least thats how Dwin remembers it.

Benji hears the rumors and chimes in.

_"No, no! You BOTH got it wrong.

Ronan and Dwin were sitting by the gate and RONAN goes:
'Hey Dwin! I heard you killed a bunch of your own Militia men when you blew up Sam's Hill.'

    and DWIN was like:
    ' <g>Fark you!</g> I didn't blow up Sam's Hill.'

    And RONAN was like:
'Yeah you did. I saw it in some kind of magic vision.'

    And DWIN said:
'You want to fight about it?'

And RONAN put a spell on himself and the said:
    'Nah-nah-nah-boo-boo, I'm covered in Acid, <g>mother-farker!'

    And DWIN was like:
    'You're such a <g>pussy.'

    And RONAN was like:
'No I'm not! Magic is fair.'

    And DWIN was like:
'Go get donkey-<g>farked</g> again just like you did in the magic vision that -I- saw.'

And then ARAMUIL, who was there too, said:
'Come on now everybody. Let's be friends.'

And then RONAN went and pouted by himself by the fire.

    … and that's how it happened."</g></g>_

    Benji nods once definitively.

  • Hess Arksaniss, the usually quiet half-elven woodsman has been a bit more jovial in recent days. He is seen running with his pet wolf, Ehto, around town.

    Just running.

He's got a grin on his face and runs bare-chested with a simple kilt-like garment around his waist and simple leather sandals strapped to his feet. He sips water from a small flask and chews on some seeds from a small pouch at his belt. He pauses only to let his non-sweating quadruped companion pant his body temperature down to a biologically allowable level, then they are off again.

    Running and smiling.

  • A tall raven-hair colored female barbarian redcloak trainee has been seen reading over the Lyceum of Honorable Conflict Notices posted nearest to the barracks. Eyeing it critically, as she reads the Values of the Lyceum. she can be heard breaking out into a frightening cackle that would echo the area near by, one of the red cloaks turning to look at her for a moment as a shiver could be almost seen running down his spine from the laughter (intimidate check rolled = 22).

"This coming from one who threaten to slaughter follower of Garagos It seem such rules not apply when one follow Him."

She has be seen crumpling it up after spitting on it, and tosses it to the ground before heading down the hill south with a large silver axe swung over her shoulder.

  • The Sunite Knight Rico Swift still camps outside the south gate, hoping for news of town, defending the gate when he can, and leaving when his presence seems to cause trouble, although his white horse Scarlet stays behind. He speaks to Aramuil and Ronan when they step outside, and seldom seems satisfied with the conversations judging by all the shouting and hand waving.

  • Following the return of a couple of disheveled scouts the town was hit hard by a number of goblin assaults. It seems that the goblins have been doing some learning.

Talk in the inn is that the goblins tricked people away from the south gates then snuck assassins and archers in and locked the gates behind them.

There were explosions in the night to the south but at dawn the gates were still there.

Manya attacks and exchanges in the wood took place over several days.

A force of adventurers went to confront the goblins in their hole but were unexpectedly driven back.

A larger force had gone out and returned triumphantly, or so it is said.

Is it true that they only went part way into the goblins caves then retreated?

  • _Word swirls around town of several days of attacks by undead creatures, including Shades that could attack during the daylight hours, something almost unheard of before… and of the near death of the priestess Rith to what looked to be a duplicate of the Dracolich.

Those who were there swear it was only an illusion, but the wounds that they took seemed awfully real..._

  • Undead Bugbears!

_It's just another of those days - so common to Norwick - something nasty and obviously evil storms against the southern gates, heedless of the loss of their unlife this yields. And as usual it's the adventuring, heroic types who rise with a heavy sigh from their benches, grab their various weapons and beat down the threat.

It even seems that the variation to that grand old theme this time is the combination of bugbear and undeath in a single corpse - as some sort of undead bugbear supposedly walked out of the woods. Most likely it was just another failed druidic experiment, or perhaps some fell goblin magic. Or could it possibly be the work of some other god yet, as at least one voice proclaims?_

  • A man in shadowy armor and with his crimson hair pulled into a ponytail has been seen around Norwick recently, though he seems to keep pretty much to himself. He seems to either ignore, or snap at any attempt at discussion towards him, and for anyone that manages to get close, they smell the distinct odor of alcohol on his raspy breath.

  • @33c034469a=SickFish:

_Troff Legion, the elf, has been seen weeping openly and often about the streets of norwick. It's draning him looking weaker from not eating. Occasionally tears run red with blood.

Not that anyone cares. Pansy elf._

_It seems as if the elf has at least deigned to cry in private now, mostly. The constant tear stains on his face seem to indicate he's still not handling himself all that well. Every now and then he is found asleep passed out somewhere in norwick with a small smile on his hollow looking face.

Physically he seems weak and trembling, as if carrying a great weight or suffering some internal injury. Funny since anyone who has seen him draw steel recently, or seen him around a certain elf can attest he still maintains his strength._

  • @08342cf668=Jenavee:

Jack Ross, the slightly-less-wild spellsinger, has been seen posting notices on the boards. When read, they describe a spellblade he's recently acquired, and his willingness to sell it for around two thousand coin.

    //

    -Spellblade-

    Wizard: Bonus Spell Slot 0
Wizard: Bonus Spell Slot 3 <– Moar fireballs, anyone? 😄
    Shelgarn's Persistent Blade: 1/day
    No Damage

    //

    Cyrian removes all the notices.
