Whispers at the Fire

  • Legion

Martoushca, a hin gardener from the city of Peltarch, has been trying to spread word that she is planing a forest walk Endweek morning (7:00pm ish Australian time) to tend to the saplings south of Norwick. She is hoping to round up a party of brave souls to keep her company - and to help carry sacks of mulch.

Word is she plans to meet at the campfire in Jyyd and leave just before the sun comes up. The group will then be passing through the town of Norwick to pick up supplies before heading south.

((lvl 1-3 party. More the better!))

  • During her required time off from a recent death, Celestria is seen visiting with the locals around Norwick. She keeps the conversations light, simply getting to know the people she is sworn to protect and reassuring them should they any have concerns or fears.

  • _Lately there has been a very large man walking around town. He doesn't say much, grunting most time at people if they talk to him, but standing close to 7' tall and having arms larger than most people's legs, he attracts stares without having to say a word.

Some of the long time residents swear he looks oddly familiar, something hidden in those dark eyes of his, yet not a one is able to quite place it._

  • There was another daemon attack in Norwick, this time near the inn again, though no daemons entered the inn. Half-fiends dropped from the sky, followed by succubi and even Hezrou. Celestria and Chet fell during the combat, but were returned to life later by Tristina. According to some rumours, chanting was heard across Norwick before the daemons appeared; and they appeared essentially out of no-where.

  • A very bloody and badly beaten, some might even say tortured, Elyl is seen being transported thru Norwick on a floating red disk following behind Aramuil. They headed off North with others including Mecizq, Kara, Moradim and Gears. Elyl looked to be in great pain and had a very visible wicked looking brand burned into his forehead

    ((Thanks again, Lucid!!! 😄 😄 ))

  • Mord has been in his office after moving through the remnants of the attack. Several runners can be seen leaving and general word goes out for a meeting of his staff along with the Advisor.

  • After a day caring for and talking to those attacked in the inn, Nicahh is seen thanking the Norwick Redcloaks that have so generously volunteered their time to stand guard outside until she can find suitable replacements. In addition a sign is posted outside it requesting anyone interested in working as a personal guard, four positions to be filled, to please contact her.

((Feel free to PM me here, or catch me IG if your PC is interested.))

  • The next morning, Maya enters through the north gate, looking tired from her journey. Unaware of what has transpired, she proceeds down the dirt road to the Grapevine Inn.

Several of the towns people just watch, hesitant to approach, but a few come forward, and quiet sad words are spoken.

A horrified look crosses Maya’s face as she dashes to the inn. The door latch and surrounding wood shatter on impact, skittering into the foyer.

Maya is in the inn for some time before emerging. When she does she is in full battle dress, her braids freshly rewoven and full of feathers.

Her eyes are cold. Her mouth set hard around clenched teeth. She exits the north gate wordlessly and disappears into the morning mist.

  • After the attack, the Romani commander Aelthas was seen entering Norwick and heading to the Inn, asking for Maya inside, saying he needs to speak to her.

  • Celestria is heard warning adventurer's not to confront this man being without more knowledge and a good, solid plan and able group with them. She tells of how this being was able to take down both herself and Andrew in a matter of seconds while easily stopping her attempts at healing, as well as how the being seems to call demons to aid it at will.

  • _One by one, townsfolk are raised, restored and returned to their homes. Redcloaks all around town seem more on edge than usual. Chet is always close to the Grapevine now, checking anyone who looks suspicious before allowing them entry. The inn is still busy as ever, with the hardened people of Norwick not letting the incident crush their spirits…but more townsfolk openly carry daggers and axes as they move about town.

Chet tells anyone going into the inn these days..._

"Doan you worry none. Anyone tryin ta bring trouble ta the grapevine's gotta get past ol chet first the balding redcloak taps at the greatsword strapped to his back and grins"

  • The Halfling Defence League

Dietrick is seen straddering into town days later and after having heard what happened howled loudly, an aggressive war cry filled with both pain and anger.

  • Aramuil seems more pensive and thoughtful than usual; and he is horrified by carnage caused by this armored figure chasing him. He and Cherry had literally just returned from their honeymoon; and many can't help but feel sorry for the elven mage in regards to this.

  • _After said attack, a group comes in from the south to find the bloodied bodies of citizens and adventurers laying about. After hearing of the attack, one in the group known as Ronan, was seen dashing off to the north, muttering spells as he did so, ignoring the warnings others gave about the attacker.

He returned sometime later, a dissapointed look on his face, though he was out of breath and unharmed. It is reported he gave chase to the murderous attacker, though the attacker did not stick around to fight Ronan after slaughtering several folks in Norwick.

After all was said and done, concerned citizens and adventurers are seen discussion the matter with worry in their voices._

  • The Halfling Defence League

_Gears was seen to slowly carry the small (though not to him), bloodied body of Yana to the apothecary, asking the air itself for help as he walked uncertainly to Tristina's. The Gears that emerged from the apothecary however, seemed far less lost and far more murderous. Daggers in hand, he took off north immediately.

A party of others soon followed, Aramuil among them. After several hours had passed they returned, apparently empty-handed. Gears walked slowly north again, alone._

  • _In what seems to be the blink of an eye, the town of norwick it turned upside down. Suddenly where selene was once selling her wares, only a stain of blood remains. half a dozen bodies are carried from the grapevine to the apothecary … among them, a young girl name Yana.

Tristina is forced to close the apothecary doors for several days as rites are performed to bring back the dead.

The rumor about town is a single stranger, a knight in blood red armor, flew into a murderous frenzy when Aramuil could not be brought before him. He proceeded to cut his way though town, though the grapevine in and back out again before striding off north unchallenged._

  • The town seems to settle down to its normal demon attacks and fiery discussions around the fire by the odd adventurers passing through. The red cloaks seem to be everywhere in and about the town and patrols are stepped up as it seems something from the woods has crept out of the dark. The something, some say a simple goblin other a demon lord, has been summoning creatures to attack the townsfolk and any who would venture out of the gates towards the ruins.

  • What looks to be a funeral pyre goes up one evening just beyond the south gate, high along the south wall. Locals can be heard gossiping over old man Mace's execution for the next few days. About how old and tired Mace seemed from a distance, how cold and focused Colonel Mord's seemed in his task. They say the Colonel used his own longsword granted him by the realm, the glowing white "Wrath of Norwick" and even Chet seems to think something extraordinary took place…

"Saw more than tha life go from old man mace's eyes, me did!

With a shifty eyed look, the balding redcloak begins to babble, smelling of ale and sour wine

Saw 'is soul sucked roit up inta tha colonel's magic sword! Tha' be tha fate ah all who be put down by tha colonel's blade! Soul sucked I tell ya! spits An tha be the fate ah all them what fark wit tha realm! Ya get ta spend forever in tha sword, burnin' wit a fire so strong it sets tha sword afire when tha ol colonel gives er a swing!

he nods slowly, a strange seriousness in the old redcloak

If'n ya doan believe ol chet, go an do ah patrol wit the colonel. You'll see tha fire too … aye, you'll see."

  • A man with vomit covered garbs, a foul smell, and a uncontrollable cough can be seen wandering around norwick
