Whispers at the Fire

  • Jeremy simply laughs at hearing the Guradians being ambushed by goblons.

  • _Guardians Melanie, Ragnhild, Wog and Yarchum, accompanied by such noted adventurers as Kara, Theaon and Scutum recently set out on a small trip out into the easterns Rawlins. Rumour suggests that the initial intent of the group was to travel to the Underdark, but that those plans were thwarted by an unusually well organized ambush by goblin forces. Further investigation took the adventurers to Skara's old lair, where more trouble was encountered… in the form of a warmachine!

Ragnhild can be overheard talking about the event quite excitedly on her way back home:_

"We hear rumblings in cave and go below to look, find several dozen dead gobbalins and -huge- warmachine on loose vhen open door to a room vith small huts. Machine started move towards us, but not attack right avay. Something seem to be wrong vith it, but of course we did end up smack it to bits. Then we corner lone surviving gobbalin vho say they found in large hole and had taken home to salvage for parts vhen it started to uhm, activate.

After talking to gobbalin, we go back to check and find that it be repairing self! Soon stand again, but make odd zapping noise and be valking into rock wall as if steering be off. We all get redi fajt again, but machine vander off aimlessli, and end up trapping itself in near room vhen it smack into wall so that ceiling cave in. It still there, iff some brave crafter be look for source of iron to melt, huh. Be varned though, it be still activated and hostile, and cave be sort unstable."

  • Rumors abound of hordes of goblins attacking Norwick and Demons abounding through portals in the graveyard! Some reports even seem to point that the deeds of Sergeant Locrian, Quelcoth, and another mysterious individual took down many evil gnomes, the beasts they summoned through the portal, and even a Hezrou!

On another note, holes have been popping up with a rank stench of decay around Norwick. Only to be quickly and efficiently filled in by the hard working Quel. He works with his sleeves rolled up, taking a break for a sip of wine now and again, and humming or even singing a light hearted aire.

//DMs: Spent a good amount of time IG pushing about carts of dirt, shovelling, etc. Ronan, Locrian, Lucid, and Thorn can all vouch for my doing so. Namely it was for the four holes near the entrance.

  • Rilia hand delivers some plants to the Chancellors office. Asking one of the guard to carry up a bag of seed and place it in the corner. What on earth is she doing upstairs of the town hall? Rumor has it these plants were very frilly in an elven sort of way for green things. What the heck does that mean? what a useless rumor.

  • _Early one morning, Dwin, Lucid, and Calendel set out from the Great Hall. None were wearing their typical garb. In fact, all were dressed lightly as they began their hike northwards. It appeared that Calendel might have even purchased some new leather boots from the hike, as his stride was a bit off and the "squeak squeak" of the unbroken leather seemed to bother even the field mice as they pass by.

After surveying several areas, the trio stops on one particularly flat area in an area north of town where the land plateaus. Calendel gets out a few measuring ropes, and the three begin to pace off in different directions.

After some further discussion, Dwin removes four small stakes from his satchel and pounds them into the ground in a large square shape. Calendel appears to be sketching the area on a fresh piece of parchment as well. Dwin smiles and mumbles the word "vallahir" as he taps in the last stake.

Once they are done with their surveys, the unlikely threesome heads further north and pays a visit to Z's new home before eventually returning back to the rotting structures of Norwick late in the afternoon._

  • @35564503ba=Speedy_Z_:

*After years of hard work, Z's efforts finally pay off.

As the sun begins to set, Z stands back, wipes the sweat off his brow, and proudly looks at his completed farmhouse.

A wide smile creeps across his face, as he whispers a silent prayer to give thanks for all his blessings, his family, and his friends.

With that, he wipes his face, picks up a hammer, and begins building the barn with renewed vigor.*

No rest for the weary, he chuckles. But I kin see the light at the end of the tunnel and it won't be long now… 🙂

((Looks like Z's farm is finally getting IG. Thanks to everyone who helped build it, RPed helping me, etc. I appreciate it.)) 🙂

  • _A lovely blond woman, a vision of sapphire and gold, has been seen around Norwick lately, engaged in lively discussion with a variety of merchant types. She carries a worn ledger wherever she travels, furiously jotting notes about seemingly everything in sight.

She seems a friendly sort overall, although there is a cunning glint in her eyes that betrays an entrepreneur at heart._

  • //I am assuming that the bugbear remains untouched for a while, if not, ignore//

Rumour has it that, after the corpse had lain there for a bit, the wizard some might know as Ezachiel walked up to it, and using some kind of magic, set it on fire until there was nothing left but ash.

  • Apparently the bugbears are now training exceptional adventurers! In a daring heroic or villainous deed a lone bugbear broke through the town's defenses and managed to push deep into Norwick, until at last a spell from Alora took him down. Rumors wonder if the bugbear will stay dead or strike a deal with a demon to return to life…

  • _The young and often silent elf Ridian can be seen watching the children with mingled expressions of consternation, shock and, very strange for him, amusement and sometimes even endearment.

He has been inquiring where to find the performing teacher._

  • Rumor has it that the guards are listening closely for anyone spreading rumors about Norwick being unjust and are reporting such behavior to both Lords Dolvak and Corvance as appropriate.

  • _Rumor spreads quickly that there seems to be no law within Norwick. A known warrior, Melanie, struck down the known banites, Zanetar and Lealac, for no apparent reason. The banites did not resist and when struck down, were taken to jail with no charge of any crime.

There were many witnesses, some saying the banite struck first. Most insist he did not, and the one who started the fight is left free without any charge of assualt.

Whatever the feelings Norwick has for the followers of Bane, it is clear that anyone can strike them for no reason without fear of being put in a cell._

  • the short and burly dwarf is seen making much noise and construction of the norwick town hall. What an artistic dwarf might be doing in a kitchen with hammers and an anvil is anyone's guess. Rumor has it the cook is right pissed at the intrusion. Other rumors state the cook is very happy as she is using it as an excuse to not make meals and taking a much needed vacation. Whatever the truth is really is unknown, but it is certain that the bellowing of a dwarf along with the clanging of hammers can be heard.

  • _Early risers in the town are witnesses to a strange gathering just outside the north gates. A group of close to thirty youngsters ranging from very young to almost teen are seen sitting in the grass in a semi-circle while a young couple, both with shockingly white hair for their age stand before them. With a few whispered words the man disappears, as the woman gives a smile and turns to the students, choosing one randomly and hauling him to the front with her.

What follows next can best be described by the students there, though those few onlookers watched amazed as well as what appeared to be a large orc took the young woman’s place, and the child almost appeared as a tall glowing elfin lord. The children watched with smiles and laughter as a large battle took place between the orc and the elf, with the elf hard pressed in the battle. Much to the students, and the onlookers, delight, just as it seemed that the elf would surely loose, he looked up as a vision came to the sky, the face of a crying elven woman, and renewed strength seemed to possess the elven warrior, and he struck the orc a strong blow, blinding one of the orc’s eyes.

Word spreads quickly of the almost play and many were sad to find on rushing up that the illusions were already fading, and the child was but a child again, and the one-eyed orc was back to a young woman with white hair.

Children are heard playing in the village now… and it never fails that you hear at least one say, “I want to be Corellon this time!”_

  • The young woman who calls herself Quara and styles herself as an adventurer, proudly claims she drove back the goblin threat into the deeper woods - admittedly with the help of two men, Briar and Sion. According to her story a group of nasty, well armed goblins - "They had clubs! CLUBS, I tell you!" - were led by a particular nasty one to infiltrate a cave near the lake. From there, she says, the goblins intended to set their plans to take over Norwick once more in motion. With a daring move, so she explains to all listening, her companions and she circumvented the rear guard of the goblins and struck from the flank, Briar succesfully sneaking up on the leader of the goblin forces, killing him in one quick fatal strike. After that the remaining goblin horde scattered and was quickly droven scurrying back into their holes in the deeper woods by the relentless and deadly arrows of Sion and Briar.

  • _Rumor has it that an undead paladin and the Banite archpriest Zanetar fought shoulder to shoulder in the wreckage of the Norwick south gate against hordes of corrupted goblins trying to storm the town.

Of course, rumor also has it that the Giant Cow of the Nars Pass is on the loose again, along with the vicious and cunning murky-do._

    -Lagermane

  • Word spreads that two statues of Norwick Militia are found standing at the southgate. The workmanship and detail is dumbfounding.

  • Ezachiel can be seen walking around Norwick again, having been absent for months.

  • A very excited Rilia is seen escorting a very short and stocky dwarf around norwick. He is shorter than the average dwarf and covered almost exclusively from head to toe in what seems to be hair. His white busy beard blending almost seamlessly with his hair. His dark clever eyes are almost beady because of all the shag. It is startling to see the skin of forehead and cheeks in comparison. Rilia seems not the least bit uncomfortable with the dwarf though and smiles often and politely to him pointing to things and speaking in common. Rilia introduces him to the Chancellor and Lord Dwin. Apparently this dwarf is an artist of some sort.

  • _Long time assistant to Tristina, the half elven healer Kia comes skipping into town telling any that will listen, that the militia soldier, Elyl Wefneran, has asked her to be his bride!!!!

Some local women grumble about another good man off the market, while others seem to rejoice in the news._
