Reaction to the Quake

  • @f55587511d=Kuker:

In recent days, rumblings and signs of earthquakes have been heard far below in the Raven Rift and perhaps beyond. One massive quake hit that sent most of the city to its knees or sprawling on their backs. The shaking lasts for only a few seconds but the damage done is evident. The death toll is at 16 with many more people wounded and still more missing.

Immediately following the earthquake, Tribune Kilir sent some of his dwarves to inspect various areas of the city to ensure that it was safe from collapse. A communal sigh of relief went out when it was declared that the city was indeed safe and that it would take a lot more than a quake of this size to endanger its integrity.

However, there are areas of the city in disrepair, most notably the mines. Some sections of the mines have collapsed leaving productive areas inaccessible. Kilir has sent dwarves to clear new passages in an effort to maintain city resource production, while others set about the repair of the city proper.

Experts are saying that the earthquake was caused by the collapse of a massive cavern far below in the desolate areas of the Underdark. If this is true or not has yet to be proven.

_Justicar wastes no time responding to the crisis quickly sending runners to the twp captains to mobilize their men and start trying to find and recover any survivors.

More runners are sent to all the churches requesting immediate assistance in healing and helping to find buried survivors and if possible to use their magics to help.

Runners are sent to the guilds requesting their aid in whatever way he can.

Expecting an attack, Justicar requests the guards be doubled as well.

Magister is summoned and asked to do what can be done.

Then Justicar concentrates on mobilizing the civilians in relief efforts in finding survivors and orders temporary shelters to be erected and food prepared at the City's expense for those in need._

Move! Move! Time is of the essence! That could be your brother or sister under that pile!

What? You don't like you brother anyways? Maybe it's your girlfriend!

Move those rocks, lift those timbers, stop that bleeding!

Light, get more light by these buildings!

  • The Brotherhood of the Black Lotus respond in kind, often using their more exotic goods to bring those back from the brink of death.

  • The Church of Bane is amongst the clerics out healing, and with an impressive show of dedication to the cause, given their usual stance on the worthlessness of the weak.

A few rumors say they're offering last rights and conversions to the dying, though, and preaching at those they heal.

  • Six Norwick Redcloaks, trained in field-healing, are seen amongst the injured doing their best to help bind injuries and perform whatever healing they can.

Word has it that Chancellor Dolvak sent them here immediately after the quake to help in whatever way they can.

The Pale Man merely stares at Justicar expressionlessly and goes over to talk to him.

  • Justicar is seen moving about thanking everyone for their help and ensuring that all the now homeless and injured are fed, clothed and have shelter as well as any medical care they require.

  • The death count has reached 20 as 4 more dead have been found. With all the help from various groups, no more citizens are missing. There are however many left injured. Father Dagon and other clerics busy themselves doing what they can to help these injured. Already, much of the cleanup and repairs are underway as Kilir's dwarves go to work. Extra bracing and supports are being erected in almost every home and around weaker areas of the main cavern and Undercity.

  • Throughout the city a small group can be seen walking about. Two break off, of wich one seems intently searching. The other part of the group familiarizes themselvees with the shops and different people in the city. The two that broke off work through a debris or creatures that may try to deter them in their path. when last seen the small group gathered at the docks and quiely sailed away.

The Pale Man stares at the older nondescript fellow. He appears to recognize him. And he isn't thrilled.

  • A silent non-desript figure moves alongside Justicar as he meets with different groups and issues orders. Without his Norwick guardsman cape and wearing a hooded cloak, many may not recognize the small compact elderly man. His gray eyes roam about watching everything and rarely says much, though talks softly to Justicar now and then.

  • The elfin women in concealing black known as No-one mostly watches but occassionally helps with dragging rubble around or the odd balm here and there.

  • _Pavel - also known as Tsu Ma from the Monastery of the Second Shadow - helps with the tending of the wounded with some mundane, if good skill, but without any magic. If he gets the chance, he also takes the opportunity to show interested people - maybe the odd apprentice from the monastery - how to treat wounds, and how some wounds came to be in the first place. He's also quite willing to assist the more experienced healers and learning from their skill instead.

He encourages attendants of the monastery to assist Oscura's helping hands, claiming that it's good preparation to see wounds, and dead people._

  • Black and gold uniformed people can be shifting through rubble their evident leader looking like he has some energy to burn off of late.

  • After hearing of the tragedy Calen, Theaon, Dolinar, and Azatar traveled by boat to Oscura helping with bandages and food for the injured guards and people that lay about on the street. Their las stop was the local healers where a good many dead were piling up. they each said silent prayers, left message that if they could be of any help they would return on a moments notice.

  • Captain Senria observes the purple haired woman, while rushing about herself, trying to help pull people from the wreckage as swiftly as possible. She can also be seen speaking with the other captain, and kilir about the occurence, how this could have happened, and how it can be prevented in the future.

  • The Halfling Defence League

A dripping wet purple haired woman arives and also helps with trying to move rubble and bandging what she can.

If asked why she was dripping wet when she turn up, she remarks that see was out on the docks when the quake hit.

The Pale Man helps shift aside the larger rocks with ease. He seems pretty strong for such a spindly fellow.
