Ronan's Speeches/Campaign

  • Prologue

Ronan spends most of his time in the commons, where most citizens seem to gather.. when a large crowd has gathered, Ronan clears his throat and asks that everyone listen:

Good morning everyone! Please, I have a few words for you all.

As you know, I am running for Senate currently. With the war finally over, I am looking to provide the city with a new beginning. One without corruption. Without suspicion or doubt, but fairness and decisions that are in the city's best interests.

I am not going to stand here and speak of my participation in the city's defense during the war, since it was not I alone who defended the city. It was the Defenders, the guards, you citizens, and all the adventurers who answered the call to battle in times of crisis. We all have the right to celebrate.

I hope that you will consider me for a vacant seat in the Senate. I may be young and, to those that know me well enough, a bit egotisical..

He gives a slight grin at that remark..

..but I will not do what is best for me, but for the city. Enjoy the rest of your day, for it is peaceful! That is all for now.

Ronan seems to keep his first speech short, looking to any citizens who may have questions or just want to talk to him about nothing.

  • Ronan has put his life on the line for This city and continues to make steps forward to help it and to see it prosper

Calen speaks up from the back, after hearing and watching the debate, and then begins his applauding

  • I am saddened that you believe that my intentions are ill or secretly for Norwick or some such. I could say all that I have done in the war for this city, but I will not make myself out to be "perfect." The war was a confusing time, sir.. we were unsure of the traitor's true intentions, but once they were known, I and a friend captured Kara, to have her answer for her crimes against us all. Unfortunately, her demonic allies freed her from our grasp… that is when I knew that all her words were lies. Previously, I had tried to negotiate to N'jast that they -not- march on Peltarch. I pleaded with them that there was another way, instead of an assault on the walls, to gain answers of a threat they "thought" was in Peltarch, when all along, it was them who had planted traitors.

I condemn those who sought to profit from a tragic event, yes. As you can see, Vaster Ashald is banished from here due to my aid in an investigation against him. The Seafarers are not all of ill intent, however, as I've seen first hand during my investigations. They're looking for change.

Now, are there any other concerns? If so, do not be shy.

Ronan smiles slightly, looking over the crowd.

  • The robed man laughs.

"'It was everyone else in Norwick, not me!' Aye, you broke with Dwin… to run for office here. At least, you say you've broke. Your timing is suspicious. Why didn't you resign during the war, if you'd such... strong feelings?

"We all know Norwick, N'Jast, and the Traitor DuMonte regularly conversed. Were you the conduit for this unholy alliance, 'ambassador'?

"Why don't we hear you condemn the way the Seafarers sold food to Norwick and let Peltarch starve? You almost sound like you approve of it. Of course, if it was your idea, that isn't surprising...."

  • Ronan looks to the robed man a moment, perhaps looking thankful for that question by his expression. He responds with a neutral tone.

No, it was not at my counsel that we abandon Peltarch. Lavindo once asked me to convince Norwick to aid Peltarch as it was being sieged. I readily agreed and brought his idea to Norwick myself. However, my voice fell on deaf ears, and I received no response from the higher ups in Norwick. As I knew little to no aid would be sent, I personally came to the city here to help defend it with all my power. As for the food supplies, Norwick wished more food to feed the Jiyyd refugees who were still alive after its destruction… many suffered and lost during the war. Friends became foes, and we even doubted some who were standing next to us on the battlefield. That is what inspired me to run for senate... so that if another army comes sieging, we will know for sure who is our friend and who is not.

I am not here to speak ill of anyone, I try to avoid such. Norwick had their own reasons to hesitate. My ties with Norwick are gone... my loyalty does not lie with any one man, such as Dwin. My loyalty lies with this city, and all of Narfell. My hope is to protect those who do not deserve the wrath of whatever threat pops up.

  • A robed man in the crowd suddenly calls out, in a deep, carrying voice:

"Dwin's man! Norwick's man! Seafarer's man! When N'Jast came and Norwick abandoned us, was it at your counsel? When Dwin bought all the food from your Seafarer friends and left Peltarch to starve, was that your sage advice?"

  • Final Speech

Notices go about for Ronan Redralen's last speech, to be held a few days before the campaigning is to end. When his speech day arrives, there are no flashy illusions or fireworks that he might have, to those that know him. It is only him standing on a podeum in the commerce district, near the commons..

    Hello again, citizens.

It has been some time I've spoken publicly to you all. Many might wonder what I've been doing, and why I have been quiet during most of the campaigning days.

It is because I have been doing what I said I would, for this city, which is protect it from corruption. Many of you might've heard that Vaster Ashald was banished from Peltarch. I had a hand in this, as did a few others, whom will remain nameless.. I will not name them, since I shall allow them to come forward should they choose to. Though, I helped to uncover evidence of Vaster's corruption… and the result was his banishment.

I hope this proves that I am serious in my stand -against- corruption. Some may dissaprove of the banishment, as I've already witnessed first hand. But I believe that there is no excuse in manipulating things to fufill one's own greed.

He looks over the crowd a moment, watching the reactions before continuing..

I do hope my messages do not come off as too grim to those who have heard them. But my intentions are made clear, and I will do whatever I can to make this city that much brighter of a jewel.

  • The Seafarers Guild announces its official support for Ronan Redralen.

  • Ronan makes a general speech in all the districts of the city, over the course of three days. They all seem to bring the same message, him hoping everyone has a chance to hear his words should they desire to attend.

    Good morning citizens.

My name is Ronan Redralen, as some may know, or perhaps not. My goals, if elected senator, is to help protect the city from those who would do harm. I am not saying I will do this alone. No one man could accomplish such. However, with the help of all of you, we can do something great.

The Defenders, whom I've seen valiantly fighting in the most dire of circumstances. They've shown that no matter what they face, they can overcome it. The sacrifices they made, the families that lost ones they love… I plan to help support those families that have lost something in the war. Though I know no promise from me can lessen the grief these families share, but I hope to at least give them a brighter future.

The Ceruleans also played their part. Captain Seth himself took down several of those armatures, which just shows me their capabilities and knowledge of magic. Magic can hurt the city if it is in the wrong hands, and we will need them to help combat those with ill intentions. Their vast knowledge of such is valuable.. and I shall support them in their endeavors.

Smiling, Ronan motions to any of the ceruleans and defenders that might happen to be nearby, before continuing on..

Some of you may not like the fact I am foreign to this city. But think of this… if I were elected, perhaps more would be willing to sign up for citizenship of this city. Thus making the city more prosperous. Also know that I have no more affiliations with any of the other towns or cities. I am a full Peltarch citizen, and I plan to stay that way, elected or not.

So vote for me, if you believe in a fairness and honesty...

  • In response to Grak's questions:

Well, my large friend.. I cannot promise you or anyone lands for them to… roam on. But I will certainly do my best to make sure any citizen is heard if they've an issue of some sort.

  • ICC

half-orc known as Grak gives question
"oi, whitehair trickster! Whut woulds ya do fer Grak, shoulds ya git Graks vote, eh?
Dem town still ows coin fer Grak, since graks blade wus ere when une wus needed. Or will yar words be like them windbag, Ballista boy's, eh? Should ya does open town coffers or decree nearby spot of land for Grak und Graks kin, to dwell on, we mays thinks fer yar words"

  • Ronan again comes to the commons, in his fine silks and a bright smile on his face. He clears his throat, bidding and asking that those who wish to listen may do so or to just continue on their way as if he's not there.

    Good morning citizens.

You know I run for senate, and now it is time I give a speech. I promise to not make you all fall asleep.

He grins a little at that, before continuing

I just wish to give, in detail, what I hope to accomplish if I am elected into the senate.

My main goal is to put a fair vote for all groups within the city, and to, of course, vote in the city's best interests. I can promise that I will not be tempted by those who may wish to corrupt me… and with all my power, I shall defend the Jewel of the icelace. You citizens have shown me how strong your hearts are in times of crisis, and I admire that. Which is why I have chosen to run for Senate here.

I support my running mate, Rilia's views on helping those who lost something within the war. The children, the women, and any who have suffered. I shall also be lending my hand in those areas, as war can be unfair to those who have done nothing to deserve their losses. That will be my first step if elected, or... hells, even if I'm not elected.

This city deserves peace, without doubt or suspicion of anyone who look after it. I can assure you, that you need not doubt me.

That is all for now. I wish to hear any questions you may have, and that I am always available to listen.

Ronan steps down, mingling around the commons and stopping to listen to anyone who may have a question for him… no matter what it is. Even if it's "How did you get your hair so white?"

  • Good questions.

I do not accuse the current senators of corruption, no. However, during the N'jast war, there were traitors found within the senate. I hope to perhaps aid in preventing such from happening again.. that is my main goal. I've much experience in these matters over my career as an adventuring type in Narfell.

  • Symone approaches Ronan and request to ask a couple questions

You mentioned Corruption in your speech, while I am wel laware of the possibilities of corruption in any form of government, do you personally feel that the former senate was corrupt? Do you believe that your appointment would prevent corruption? Also, do you think that the current senators will think low of you for insinuating that one or more of them may be corrupt?

    Thank you for your time.
