::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::
-
Gildor snaps at a waitress at the Ferret, pointing at a pile of sick a customers left on the floor, she returns to wiping of a table while hearing bits of the conversation.
"Kalina.. tha magistrate of Peltarch.."
she couldn't help herself from laughing, placing a hand on her hip and eyeing the patrons
"How much exactly 'ave ya two been drinkin'?"
she grin shaking her head, and picks up the cloth, folding it neatly.
"To be a magistrate, you need first of all to be lawful, respected, trusted and liked.. that chaotic lill' wench, got none of tha above, she can't solve her own mess, 'ow can anybody expect 'er tha solve somebody elses? Her risin' through the ranks of tha Knights is more tha do with her bein' good at "rising" somethin' else on tha Captains body, if ya ask me.."
She smirks, rubbing her forehead
"Mah.. 'ere.."
She snapes her fingers and a waitress comes over.
"This lass will get you both a free Ale on the house, I think that whatever ya got in those mugs is seriously effectin' ya brains tha wrong way"
She walks away, just laughing and shakeing her head amused.
-
It starts out small, in the corners of the shadier inns around the city. Conversations between small groups of hooded men, shrouded behind clouds of smoke from their pipes and cigars, their faces hidden by the veil. Small bits of gossip, stories, and suggestions pass around the tables.
"'Ear about that riot?"
"'Course, I was there!"
"Eh? Well, doncha think its time somethin' gets done? That Magistrate, he not be doin' his job. Its a drow, and he wants to wait even longer than 'e already has! It ain't right"
"Nah nah nah, the Magistrate's a good man. Ya see that hot girl with him up on the stand?"
"Kalina?"
"Aye."
"What about her?"
"She was voicin' the exact thing I were thinkin'. We need this damn trial, and soon. I hope she gets a position in all this."
"Feh, I weren't payin' attention to what she were sayin', more just picturin' what she'd be like on my bed."The two exchange a laugh, pay for their drinks, and leave the inn.
A few days later, another conversation springs up."Oy! Just got back from that rally, over'eard a friend of mine sayin maybe that Kalina lass should be magistrate!"
"Eh? Who's that?"
"Remember that girl with the Magistrate?"
"Oh, the red-head? Ain't she sleeping with Uthger?"
The two laugh.
"I dunno about that, but me friend was sayin she would make a fine magistrate!"
"Eh, I dun be knowin' much about her."
"She's with the Cerulean Knights, risin' through the ranks pretty fast too."
"Heh. Maybe she can save the damn thing."Later, a conversation in the Dancing Mermaid…
"Poor girl, the Lieutenant left her. I saw her run out of the gates a while ago screaming and crying."
"What happened?"
"They broke up."
The group of six simultaneously "Awwwww" at the comment
"Well, she's got a good future. I've seen her back around since then; she's doing okay now. She was at that riot in the docks helping the Magistrate calm down the masses apparently. I wasn't there, my friend who lives down there told me about it."
"Oh yeah? Well good for her!"Meanwhile, Kalina can be seen walking around the city with a faint smile never far from her lips.
-
_Rumors spread of how the pale elf senator has been fighting for the city day in and day out for the past years of office. Pushing for raises for the dock worker's pay, suggesting tax reforms for trading companies, advocating constantly in the benefits of joining the city defenders and guard. He is trying to create jobs in government, pushing for a reform in the Fighter's Academy, to turn it into a proper military foundation, and finding private investors for something he calls "The Arcanum." The bureaucracy has managed to keep his ideals mostly at bay, but he struggles on, convinced of their worthiness.
Some say he doesn't sleep at all.
Others are more interested about his involvment with the pretty red head everyone keeps seeing him with in his time off. They have dinner at the inn occasionally, always seeking private quarters and being well attended by the staff. The waitresses giggle on about how they are always smiling and exchange subtle touches here and there. He seems to indulge in spoiling the girl as much as he can.
More and more, old fanatical rumors are beginning to seem like self interest driven propaganda._
-
In contrast to the activity of her fellow Knights, the Luitenant of the Knights still has not been seen for over a year, rumours from worried students at the College say she is not even seen about the College, but remains within the lower Master's area and suppossedly is in a dire state indeed. She recieves very few visitors compared to when she first became ill, a worried Meril informing her concerned friends she simply is not well enough to have company at present.
-
Anakore has been seen in the city only when business calls him there. The Knights seem to have openly grown with several new members, and they are often seen in and around the city, on various assignments. In his spare time, Anakore is usually away from the city. Rumors speak of him at the Gypsy Camp fires with a girl, and given the relative quietness of the pass he has been taking his son Nickolai for walks to the Camp many times, staying there for a few days.
-
Barrim on his rare exits from his office plotting the demise of the new lizard threat and working on an important trial emerges as his fellow magistrate is musing and speaking to some gathered folk.
He sits down and nods in the affirmative to a few folk recounting countless incidents of so called chaotic law enforcement in norwick.
He seems pleased that his fellow Magistrate Zyphlin is speaking about the city in the positive and using his talents to show the citizens and military of peltarch how fortunate they are to live there.
Barrim brushes a finger across his moustache and buys a few guards a drink when they get off duty and later returns to his office with a friendly pat on zyphlins shoulder
Good work there magistrate… he comments with a smile
-
Zyphlin can be sitting around the mermaid and the commons, muttering and laughing a bit
Aye, I'm beginning to wonder again why everyone that doesn't live in peltarch thinks we're some huge evil appresive place and that norwick must be the glowing silver realms of celestia. Nine hells, just the other day I watched as Rando used his position to threaten someone selling an axe because it was less the union prices…oh, and dont' forget that Rando was in the union. He even tried to get one of the dwarves in that gang family of thiers, what is it, the dolvaks I think, to take the hin out around somewhere quiet and "have a talk with her". Yeah, probably like they "have talks" with other people they don't like. Great way of getting rid of competition, lock them up or beat the hell out of them. I stuck up for the hin and rather happy I did as well since the stubborn mule of a dwarf started insulting our former senator and hero to all of narfell Adam Bromley. Rando went on about how it must be illegal to undersell the union in Norwick but honestly I think he was just covering his tracks. Just goes to show you that the ones that scream "corruption" the most down south are probably trying to hide thier own forms of it. We don't let non citizens sell weapons and armor up here to help out with peltarch sellers. ALL peltarch sellers. Union members that have peltarch papers, merchants that have peltarch papers, and other things. We don't have a "peltarch crafters guild" that we force all our merchants into or we put a blade to thier throat and threaten to kill them...and we sure as hell don't threaten people at sword point that they'll end up "covered in thier own blood" just for selling without papers. You get a little fine and asked if you want to buy a permit usually. Yeah...we're the evil ones
Rolls his eyes laughing a bit as he kicks back, watching as his words spread through the crowd of people and the talk shifts to the comments and the hypocricy of it all
-
Deacon has been seen walking the streets more often, often accompanied by Captain Panache, heading to the Pissin' Goat Inn, where they would have endless talks, and often joined by different men
Words overheard are often about ships, easy ways to aqquire them and the endless chatting up to the Goat's owner, to some end not told
-
Kalina quirks a brow at the sudden appearence of this three star CK.
"Um.. who? Henry is his name? I've never even heard of this guy."
She shakes her head and heads south in hopes of finding Anakore for an explanation.
-
A rarely seen three star cerulean knight has been seen recently emerging from his cigar smoke laden office and venturing to the commons to enjoy the evening air. Known as Henry he has been seen in the company of the Magistrate and a defender and his brother leaving for the south, and seen around the outskirts of the city heading to the northwest.
Barrim was heard to remark that the captain should offer Henry more assignments away from endless papershuffling in future and he has complimented the knight on his skill and tenacity in the arcane arts on returning to the city.
Aside from that the Magistrate seems to be beoming fast friends with the man while remaining aware that he might well be worthy competition for similar females that Barrim prefers as the man appears sharp of wit as well as adept in the weave; something he can't compete in.
-
Barrim has been seen ordering a defender seen drunk and unclothed hanging around the commons with his brother to the guardhouse for the sergeant to deal with in his own special way. The defender was soon seen in proper order soon after.
The same man known as Private Akra was soon after seen heading west with his brother in an attempt to recover a kidnapped family from the giantspire foothills. They boy was recovered safely by the defender.
He is making it known among the military that prompt duty and appearing in good order will be noted, and that indiscipline and deriliction of duty will be punished by the proper military authorites.
He is also reminding guardsmen and defenders of the need to remain vigilant on the nars pass, for signs of recent trouble and any change in the attitudes of the eastlanders, while also reminding the defenders and guard stationed at the outpost of his promise of reward to the one that fells the strange lizard woman sighted in recent months close to there.
-
_The young Abiie can usually be seen within the commons, hardly ever is she without the company of either Syne, Mirkali, Merydian or Talgrath.
She appears to look a bit brighter and her facial features have developed further, making her appear older and more beautiful_
-
Ting is decidedly enraged at the damage to the market shop durring the explosions.
All common customers have been turned away at the door apparantly because of repairs being conducted inside and the public finds itself deprived of fruity-crunchy things.
-
During all the chaos of the recent attacks on the City the elven Luitenant of the Cerulean Knights is still nowhere to be seen. Rumours have it that she lies deathly ill deep in the confines of the Bardic College, far away from the battles and negative energy assaults above her.
-
"Did you hear about the crucifing?"
"Tha what?"
"Tha crucifing, ya drunk"
"nah.. can't say I have, what ya mean crucifing?"
"well I heard from me mate whos brother is a guard up at tha tower outside Peltarch, that.. that some priest, Mingy or something, came upon and found a lot of folks crucified. Ah lets see, he was strolling through the Nars and saw a trace of blood or something and when he came up.. he saw.. uhm.. five folks nailed"
"nailed?"
"aye… nailed. There was two lasses dangling from each their pillar.. some redhead birdy with long legs, and some blondy girl in golden and black armor, they had iron nails through their wrists and ankles and was hanging against the stone dripping blood everywhere. Uhm.. there was three fellows too, uhm.. I think one is some captain of some mage group, can't remember his name, wears blue, and one of em.. some youngish fellow with black hair and black armor.. and then.. ah tha third wasn't crucified.. well sort of, she had one of the magistrates, tha one with the mustache, she had him dropped over a rock with a metal spike through his chest"
"woaw.. and he lived?"
"heh they all just barely lived.. blood everywhere when they found em.. was enough tha make Mingy and his elf mates stomach turn"
"so.. who did it? did they catch him?"
"her.. some lizard bitch, don't really know much"
"woaw"
"aye.. my brothers mate is takeing a break from his duties for a bit"
"wise"
-
_The young woman Abiie Uramesyy can be seen walking about without the veil around her face anymore.
Rumors have it she is living with several people, but not her own father_
-
_Some of the darker elements of the city shuffle about, reconnecting with old networks and gathering information.
What could the invincible gladiator, the undefeated warlord, Uthger the Battle Scarred have to concern himself with such that a squad of Black Dragon Knights need escort him?
Certainly, nothing pleasant._
-
_Folks around the city noticed a strong Black Dragon Knight presence recently. There were knights stationed at every gate and the gates locked. A force of no less than a dozen knights was seen following Uthger towards the inn under orders to let no one enter or leave.
The inn regulars tell drunken tales about Uthger attacking the one called Mara. They say how she attacked the inn regulars with magic in her efforts to stop Uthger and was then beaten to death by Uthger and the commoners.
Those that ask Uthger of the body are told its secure, however Uthger has no problem showing the drow head contained in Mara's helm to all those that ask._
-
In the wake of this attack, Senator Evendur Mildsilver is hardly seen at all. Rumors indicate that he is immersed in intense research regarding some related topic or topics.
-
According to rumours, there was a magical attack on Peltarch at the south gates in the Commerce District. Defenders and guards were struck by magic and killed. According to rumours, a group of city employees, aided by Head Priestess Daisy dealt with the problem.
