::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • Rumour once more circulates about a gnomish gnomehunter spotted in the foothills outside the city, calling flame from the skies and injuring at least one person. Oddly enough, the two behatted gnomes who were last to leave the scene appeared unharmed, yet pale of nose and heavy of step as they made their way to the Mermaid. A third gnome later joined them, hurrying after having proclaimed that the two suffered from something called "the great lurgy", and putting both into quarantaine. Ms Gilda Haven then returned with the supposed cure, twin cups of frothing and reeking green liquid. When at last the two afflicted gnomes - Caramella Bestefaren and Perriwig P. Doubleday - reemerged from their secluded room, both appeared in famously high spirits, wobbling their way to the commons with many a giggle and chortle.

  • A rumour speaks of a band of adventurers getting beaten down by a giant kobold and his cronies. The frightened and beaten adventurers were freed by another adventuring group, one from the lizard folk to the south, or so the story has it. However, the giant kobold was not quite willing to let his gift for the sea hag, or the bargaining chips for his dealings with her, get away so easily. For that's what they would have supposedly become, exotic slaves for the sea hag creature. In the end, there was an epic fight against the kobold Gurgog Twohand and it was by the hand of Lionel C that the monstrous kobold was slain.

((2nd hand rumor… Feel free to add in detail!))

  • Not long after the rat population makes a resurgence….

  • _In celebration of her escape from Peltarch clink, and to punctuate her reformed character, your favourite barnacle-boned and seaweed-soaked dwarfen priestess of Umberlee, Mercy has been making her presence felt again in the Docks by an impromptu festival of cat drowning. Shot-putting the felines into the drink, accompanied by many a plaintive mew, the priestess piously invokes the Seaqueen, hustling any passing sailor, seafarer or fisherman, demanding that they keep fear with her.

In unrelated news, the stray cat population of the city has apparently decreased…_

  • _As dawn slowly peaks over the Giantspire mountains to illuminate the sleeping city of Peltarch, a small squad of defenders is seen out on the eastern plains, alternating between running laps of around the walled compound of the plains and sparring in pairs, with Sergeant Du'Monte looking on.

As morning sets in, sparring takes over from running laps and the two pairs have at one another. With each match end, Kara takes a while after to offer advice regarding their stances, movements and attacks. The group continue right into the early afternoon, where they finally return to the city for a rest._

  • _Rumours report a number of undead springing up in the foothills. Though a group of gnomes and humans are said to have dispatched the threat, the incident was not without casualties. A group of commoners with shovels in their hands marched out to the foothills, lead by the Ilmaterian Aithe, only to return later in fright, two of their numbers slain by the undead menace.

Aithe herself later carried what looked and likely smelled like a decomposed corpse through the commons and towards the temple of Tyr, fellow adventurers in tow. Inspite of the grave incidences of the day, it appears the behatted gnomes Caramella and Perriwig still had enough pizzazz left to engage in a rousing pie-eating contest at the Amethyst Festhall later in the evening._

  • DM

:: The city magistrate Barrim, is eager to congratulate Kara on her new position ::

"Fine it is that the upstanding among us set an example for all to follow, i'm sure many more upstanding recruits will flock to the defenders now she has set this shining example. To take a humble position, is an example to us all. No lordly titles here, dreams of conquests or riches, a simple desire to serve and do what needs to be done."

  • It would appear that the Defenders have been recruiting lately, as Kara is seen within the city commons in the freshly polished armour of a Defender Sergeant. At first glances, she appears to be quite content with the posting.

  • It seems a Waterdhavian man in an expensive looking red coat has set up shop in the Commerce district, selling the latest fashionable outfits and accessories out of Waterdeep.

  • _Throughout the gnomish society of Peltarch, and indeed reaching the ears of the more astute of Tallie rumourmongerers, words spreads of yet another attack of murderous intent towards right-sized and long-nosed citizens. More sinister yet is the hushed rumour that this time, the perpetrator of the heinous act of racial hatred was.. another gnome.

Powerful and dark magicks shook the foothills, yet no casualties were reported, aside from gnomish scholar Caramella Bestefaren sporting a dented hat and a less than usually sunny demeanor. Equally pale of nose was the ever fashionable Perriwig P. Doubleday, known gastognome and marksman. However, both the aforementioned and the gold-clad Jewel of Glittergold, Gilda Haven, perked considerably at the temporary setting up of shop at the commons by an eccentric mage selling scrolls, wands and other nick nacks of arcane nature._

  • "Ah.. who is this Ostertag?"

  • Legion

Bards and common folks speak by the fires and inns of Ostertag the Coward! Rumor has it his strongest guard chalLenged Grag to a duel if won he would be granted passage. Once loosing Grag was invited inside osterdoggs fortress. Suddenly it is said grag was ambushed by 6 more of his strongest axe weilding fiends! "If grag can defeat 6 at once they must be weak! Look how old and fat grag is he can hardly move his feet!!" "His axe chopped them in two let us all join forces and defeat osterdogg too!"

  • The city's rumour-spinning long-nosed gnomes report a growing sense of unrest in the community as a further, brutal attack by a self-appointed Gnomehunter is reported. The vicious attack was perpetrated by the camp-fire - known haunt of adventuresome types - and was understood to involve some sort of magicful possession of a city soldier - and the appearance of a balding, dark-clad cleric professing himself mere servant to some Universal Gnome Bane, true identity unknown.

What is more certain, babble the gnomes, is that the racist villain employed divine powers of uncommon magnitude - and left the bespectacled gnomish scholar Caramella and the red-garbed big-game hunter, Perriwig P. Doubleday - barely alive, nursing broken hats and singed flesh.

Furrow-browed gnomish matrons, dragging their clutch of kiddies about the city, are advised to take care and avoid homicidal persons, wherever possible…

  • @b091d53e92=Karnivor:

According to the slightly drunken sailor, the Hag had a handsome (for his species) ogre over for a rendez-vous, and had ordered the cave trapped extensively to avoid being interrupted.

gah hilarious… the wit of our DM team just makes me grin!

  • _A roughed-up and somewhat wobbly-legged Sabre makes her way back from the scene of the undead attack, a bottle dangling in one hand. She stops by the commons for a brief chat while swigging deeply from the bottle, weary, but in fine spirits. Anyone overhearing the conversation will no doubt learn that while the scouting expedition found no bugbears, something odd was definitely going on in one of the kobold caves.

According to the slightly drunken sailor, the Hag had a handsome (for his species) ogre over for a rendez-vous, and had ordered the cave trapped extensively to avoid being interrupted. Sadly for the lovers, the scouting party made their way through the defences to put a bloody ending to their romantic tale, and swiping a few of the wooing gifts to boot._

  • ICC

only a while later the eastern plains are hit by earthquakes, and several large and dangerous undead are found, seeminlgy being lead by some lich. All are depatched, at least for the moment.

  • A decent sized party of adventurers lead by Aurelia traveled along the harbor and out to the lake to investigate the validity of the rumors, Aurelia scouted the beach looking for any signs of activity while the rest kept the polar bears at bay. When they found no bugbears they returned and searched the kobold caves before returning to the city.

  • Rumors circulate of strange, hairy shapes climbing in and out of the bay at night, carrying strange bundles.

  • _Rumour has it the (in)famous hin merchant Derek Underhill recently hired a ragtag band of adventurers for an off-shore recovery mission of some sort. The group set off in high enough spirits, but upon returning had to raise one of their number from unfortunate death at the hands of the vicious orcs infesting the island destination. Not only that, but the group leader Reilash professed a failure in having procured the item wanted, leaving the group without pay for their efforts.

While the majority left Peltarch in a hurry, heading south, two gnomes and the recently revived human remained at the commons. The gnomes could be heard commentating favourably on Mister Underhill's splendiferous and positively gnomish purple outfits, and in less favourable terms on the morality and mental capacities of certain Tallies._
