::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • _It seems with the recent attack on a Seafarer caravan, a few of the Raiders that have been plaguing the pass have been killed, something that hasn't yet been done by anyone else. Although the lives of five Seafarer soldiers and three merchants were the cost, three of the Raiders were killed as well.

The guard is informing people to beware of any people they see in the blue armor that was on the Raiders, the armor being hung outside the Commerce gates with a couple guards standing by it to make sure no one stole it for the past couple days, so everyone can take a look._

  • Hearing of these rumours, Magistrate Barrim is seen speaking to guards and cerulean knights, concerned by these sketchy reports..

  • _On top of these times of peril, reports of dead kobolds turning up with eyes missing would go by unnoticed, except for one severed head turning up with its eyes missing, and not one but a few bodies turning up floating in the harbors, also missing their eyes. "snot like its the bodies of anyone who would be missed, mostly the plight of a few homeless who have called the Tent Cities or the Docks home at some point.

Stories of spider…things...float among the poor and less fortunate and a Defender or two..if pressed may admit glimpsing such a creature..a spider...but not. Those same Defenders would deny ever seeing or saying they saw anything. There's more concrete dangers to focus on these days than the latest urban legend from the underclasses._

  • Word from the Civic District has it that Peltarch has been convinced to send a small, but well equipped force south to Norwick to aid the town in its plight against an army of bugbears and other nasty monsters.

  • A party of Black Sails can be overheard at the campfire, commenting on the peculiar sight of the sea hag being led off in chains by the Peltarch Defender Marines. Sabre speculates idly on the risks of this incident causing the hag's ardent ogre admirer/s to take drastic action against the city. A betting pool is soon started, including anything from a full-scale ogre attack to a lone lovestruck ogre reciting poetry in the foothills.

  • Four bloodied Black Sails return from a trip to the so called skull cave in the foothills, lair to the flail-swinging kobold leader. Despite their beat-up states, at least three of the group have big grins on their faces, bragging about having defeated not only the scalesinger and his cronies, but also the "-biggest- friggen kobold ye e'er did see, bigger 'n Urgh an' twice as dumb, frothin' at tha mouth an' all", along with a multitude of extra guards. Aside from the customary loot and a few additional nick-nacks recovered, Sabre can be observed wearing a rolled-up coil of sturdy rope hanging from her belt, as she merrily menaces her crewmen with a badly chewed and mangled little toy, retelling the tale at the fire.

  • The Halfling Defence League

Those who know the Elf Demeana will note a drastic change in personality, she's no longer as timid or nerves as she was, and has been seen wearing clothes that suit her now more out going and free personality.

Also she's been seen taking pottery lessons.

  • After a few disturbances in the city since the rumors started about Lavindo and Ashald, the General himself made an appearance, accompanied by several Defenders, in the commons to put the peoples fears to rest about his untimely demise. He assures the people that Rath Ashald is safe at home at the moment as well and the incident by the Watchtower is being looked into.

  • _Rumors run rampant around the city of a caravan being attacked by Bloodspider ghosts from the sewers right beside the watch tower almost, only one survivor was reported that was ushered off to the jail for questioning.

It also seems that General Lavindo was assassinated in his bed at the exact same moment and Senator Rath Ashald has disappeared, no trace being found of him, half the people say he must be dead, the other half that he is in league with the Bloodspider ghosts.

Either way, peasant tongues are wagging with all the stories of the night, the only certain thing so far is that the guards are staying near a ruined caravan by the bridge near the Watchtower._

  • Rumour once more circulates about a gnomish gnomehunter spotted in the foothills outside the city, calling flame from the skies and injuring at least one person. Oddly enough, the two behatted gnomes who were last to leave the scene appeared unharmed, yet pale of nose and heavy of step as they made their way to the Mermaid. A third gnome later joined them, hurrying after having proclaimed that the two suffered from something called "the great lurgy", and putting both into quarantaine. Ms Gilda Haven then returned with the supposed cure, twin cups of frothing and reeking green liquid. When at last the two afflicted gnomes - Caramella Bestefaren and Perriwig P. Doubleday - reemerged from their secluded room, both appeared in famously high spirits, wobbling their way to the commons with many a giggle and chortle.

  • A rumour speaks of a band of adventurers getting beaten down by a giant kobold and his cronies. The frightened and beaten adventurers were freed by another adventuring group, one from the lizard folk to the south, or so the story has it. However, the giant kobold was not quite willing to let his gift for the sea hag, or the bargaining chips for his dealings with her, get away so easily. For that's what they would have supposedly become, exotic slaves for the sea hag creature. In the end, there was an epic fight against the kobold Gurgog Twohand and it was by the hand of Lionel C that the monstrous kobold was slain.

((2nd hand rumor… Feel free to add in detail!))

  • Not long after the rat population makes a resurgence….

  • _In celebration of her escape from Peltarch clink, and to punctuate her reformed character, your favourite barnacle-boned and seaweed-soaked dwarfen priestess of Umberlee, Mercy has been making her presence felt again in the Docks by an impromptu festival of cat drowning. Shot-putting the felines into the drink, accompanied by many a plaintive mew, the priestess piously invokes the Seaqueen, hustling any passing sailor, seafarer or fisherman, demanding that they keep fear with her.

In unrelated news, the stray cat population of the city has apparently decreased…_

  • _As dawn slowly peaks over the Giantspire mountains to illuminate the sleeping city of Peltarch, a small squad of defenders is seen out on the eastern plains, alternating between running laps of around the walled compound of the plains and sparring in pairs, with Sergeant Du'Monte looking on.

As morning sets in, sparring takes over from running laps and the two pairs have at one another. With each match end, Kara takes a while after to offer advice regarding their stances, movements and attacks. The group continue right into the early afternoon, where they finally return to the city for a rest._

  • _Rumours report a number of undead springing up in the foothills. Though a group of gnomes and humans are said to have dispatched the threat, the incident was not without casualties. A group of commoners with shovels in their hands marched out to the foothills, lead by the Ilmaterian Aithe, only to return later in fright, two of their numbers slain by the undead menace.

Aithe herself later carried what looked and likely smelled like a decomposed corpse through the commons and towards the temple of Tyr, fellow adventurers in tow. Inspite of the grave incidences of the day, it appears the behatted gnomes Caramella and Perriwig still had enough pizzazz left to engage in a rousing pie-eating contest at the Amethyst Festhall later in the evening._

  • :: The city magistrate Barrim, is eager to congratulate Kara on her new position ::

"Fine it is that the upstanding among us set an example for all to follow, i'm sure many more upstanding recruits will flock to the defenders now she has set this shining example. To take a humble position, is an example to us all. No lordly titles here, dreams of conquests or riches, a simple desire to serve and do what needs to be done."

  • It would appear that the Defenders have been recruiting lately, as Kara is seen within the city commons in the freshly polished armour of a Defender Sergeant. At first glances, she appears to be quite content with the posting.

  • It seems a Waterdhavian man in an expensive looking red coat has set up shop in the Commerce district, selling the latest fashionable outfits and accessories out of Waterdeep.

  • _Throughout the gnomish society of Peltarch, and indeed reaching the ears of the more astute of Tallie rumourmongerers, words spreads of yet another attack of murderous intent towards right-sized and long-nosed citizens. More sinister yet is the hushed rumour that this time, the perpetrator of the heinous act of racial hatred was.. another gnome.

Powerful and dark magicks shook the foothills, yet no casualties were reported, aside from gnomish scholar Caramella Bestefaren sporting a dented hat and a less than usually sunny demeanor. Equally pale of nose was the ever fashionable Perriwig P. Doubleday, known gastognome and marksman. However, both the aforementioned and the gold-clad Jewel of Glittergold, Gilda Haven, perked considerably at the temporary setting up of shop at the commons by an eccentric mage selling scrolls, wands and other nick nacks of arcane nature._

  • "Ah.. who is this Ostertag?"
