::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • ::An excited young girl, accomanied by a man and a women are seen leaving the temple of Tyr. The girl seemed to be in the care of the two as she ran towards the commerce district, tailed by the two, both seeming to be enjoying the company of the girl. They went to Hemrods, and after awhile they left again but the girl carrying an orange dolly. They looked into the docks and at there reflections in the water before heading back to the temple as night started to come in.::

  • Rumours have begun to circulate in the bars around Peltarch that the respected Defender Talonguard Company is once again preparing for battle and war. The men of the Talonguard are seen less frequently in the Mermaid with their captain Talgrath and more frequently seem to be going to Defender headquarters for training; the question many ask is who exactly are the Talonguard preparing to fight?

  • Rumour has it that a fight broke out in the Nars pass, which, according to some, resulted in a man being hunted into Peltarch territory and slain by the banned wizard some might know as Ezachiel. What is more certain however, due to the large number of witnesses, is that the wizard was shortly after escorted to the jail by some guards, with his hands tied behind his back, and a vague smile on his face, only to be released some hours later.

Some even whisper that the slain man was a priest of Talona, who was trying to poison a river. Maybe, just maybe, the wizard did something not-bad for once? Of course, most would then probably point out that he was, is, and always will be a rotten, good-for-nothing Banite.

  • A bloodied Z approaches town from the east.

Be careful in the huntin' area just east of town; there be somethin' strange goin' on out there. I was huntin' out there for tannin' hides and fletchin' feathers for me an' my apprentices when I was attacked by 3 ferocious badgers.

Heh, aye, badgers. Ye may laugh, and I would too 'cept for the gaping hole in me belly. 'Cause these farkin' badgers, oh…'scuse me language, were tougher than them tigers in the Mintas Woods...much tougher ((AB 22, 17, 12 - and doing a lot of damage with each hit - Yikes!)). I was barely able to escape 'em.

I was able to lose two of 'em by runnin, but one was relentless. I din want ta lead it back to town, so I turned and fought it. Ye can see the results.

Grimaces as he tucks a bit of intestine back into his abdominal cavity.

Anyway, I alerted the guards an' I'll gather some folks to get the other two when I'm healed up. We don't want them things breedin' out there.

All you hunters, just be careful...

    Limps off to rest.

    Z

///Reminded me of the Monty Python and the Holy Grail (a classic!) when the fluffy, white, bunny decapitates Bors. - Yikes!

  • _Perhaps buoyed by her recent tale-telling trip to Norwick, this week, Mercy has installed herself in the Mermaid, lecturing passing locals on the vampire threat presently stalking the night.

She describes - in pretty horrific detail - some of the deaths the guards have already discovered, but are hushing up to hide the truth from the common folks. In particular, she mentions an old man discovered with his throat dripping, and a bag of coin beside his - almost - corpse. While the craggy git revived, he had no memory of what happened. Still, the throat-bites speak for themselves.

Waukeenar vampires, she spins the yarn._

  • There is a new skip to the step of one of the cities more prominent people, it seems that Miss Ocean, so often seen playing in the commons and famed for her work running the five houses of the Peltarch Orphanage has become Headmaster of the College following Zyphlin's departure to other lands. It seems she now looks for new talent to fill the so recently silent apprentice rooms of the bardic College.

  • Rumors abound that two bards were found to be helping a couple of ladies of nobility to help thwart some plotting and machinations. After the thwarting or at least the slight postponement of the problem the bards were seen to be going different directions. With one a woman following the senator Eowiel into her personal quarters in the college. You know how bards are people twitter…

  • Rumours abound that renegade Defenders have taken the ogre caves near Peltarch as thier own, and attack any who venture too close to them.

  • Vague rumors circulate that a swarm of bats in the commons somehow engulfed a man in darkness not long ago. When the darkness lifted, both the bats and the man were gone. Former Senator Evendur Mildsilver was evidently present during this ordeal, but his involvement is uncertain. Regardless, he is remaining quite tight-lipped about the situation.

  • Rumour has it a barbarian woman has pitched a small tent outside the city. She seems to have moved in there, visiting the City only when she has to and muttering something about wanting the damned temple finished so she can get the cold out of her bones.

  • _Former Senator Mildsilver has been prevalent about town lately, making use of what remains of his notoriety to gauge the welfare of the city.

Those who knew him in the past speak of a subtle change in his personality. He has not been seen to smile once since his return, and speaks with dark candor about having "lost almost everything." At the same time, however, he retains a burning passion in his dedication to Azuth and has even been spotted performing random acts of… kindness._

  • _In celebration of the recent events, The Dolvak store invites any and all Peltarch residents in for some free ale and snacks. Nor is also happy to discuss basic pest-deterrent processes and best practices.

Dwin dropped in for a while and was quoted as saying "We Dolvaks are always happy and delighted to help our beloved Jewel of the Icelake… and we are happy to have once again helped rid the city of the foul vermin which tends to fester here."_

  • _Rumors circles that a group of young and aspiring heroes saved the city from a potential attack.

Nor Dolvak the Peltarch rat-catcher was seen leaving Dunderstones office with a smug expression, half dancing down the pavement.

Apparently a madman calling himself "Vermin the Beastlord" had tried to get from the city a ransom, demanding a fortune or he would unleash his horde of specially bred rats, of which he would infest the city, and supposedly cause chaos.

Dunderstone had taken the mans demand as a joke, and despite Nor's best effort, he had been stranded to locate and deal with the threat alone.

But not quite alone. He hired a group of strapping young warriors and mages, all new to the land, to investigate and gather evidence. And evidence they found. Having located his hiding place, and slayed most of the colony, they came face to face with the man himself, whom according to Nor, was nothing less than a Wererat.

With the evidence not even Dunderstone could deny there had been a possible threat, ignored by the guards.

And so Peltarch was saved, to go about it's way another day. (That rhymes)_

  • _Rumour begins to circulate around the port city of Peltarch and then leading further south that a group of heavily armed knights with the colours of the order of the watchful repose were seen entering and boarding a ship in Peltarch. Those nearby when they were passing remark hearing something about a holy quest of Kelemvor's, the judge of the damned. Their number finally set sail for an unconfirmed destination that took them far along into the Moonsea river.

The notable figures in the group, some of Narfell's most well known warriors were amongst them, along with several high known priests in the region ; Melanie Stern, Kara Du'Monte and the good Magistrate Barrim Asbravn , along with Magistrate Shannon De'Arneau, Kim Adderglee and the Keeper of the Watchful Repose, Shae Aers.

The group were said to have left the port town and not returned for at least several tendays. Although the details of their journey are unknown, they arrived back in Peltarch on the following month battered, bruised and yet in high spirits. Gossip surrounding the group suggests that their holy quest was indeed a success.

Whether this coincides with the disappearance of the restless undead of the broken Amaunatorai worshippers, It is unknown.

Following the return of the holy knights from their journey, a rumour begins to circulate about the gondar 'priest' , Dentin Strauss…it is said the man gave up all pretenses of honour and lowered himself to the level of graverobbing scum when he defiled the remains of an honourable warrior by taking their weapons. Further rumours suggest that force had to be applied to get the item he stole returned.

Whatever happened on the journey, It is clear that a slight on the reputation of the Gondar is growing._

  • _The unsettling cloaked man was seen briefly near the Peltarch commons last night, lurking in the shadows. Word has it that he was approached by a curious adventurer, only to babble about somehow being "bound" to the city against his will.

Perhaps he is just another crazed beggar consumed by his plight. Perhaps…

Whatever his intent, he soon thereafter returned to his crude camp near a peculiar tree to the east of the city._

  • DM

It appears that the City's senior magistrate Barrim might be becoming predicatable in his movements. He appears to pop out of his office just before Highsun thesedays, following a long trip from the city to read over his mail, his outstanding warrants and to speak about the law to those citizens passing by in the commons.

He doesn't appear any more cheered, or less serious in demeanor than usual, clearly he is immersed in his study and reading as he is often seen to do. He does appear a little more reflective in the noonday sun.

  • Rumour spreads trough city's blacksmiths and those with an interest in weapons and history, that Kelemnvorite hypocrisy caused the destruction of a 1000-year old Netherese sword. A considerable loss for those who would study that era, not to mention the masters of steel. After all, a sword that survives more than 1000 years of service could have provided many improvements to metallurgical knowledge. Alas, it seems the Kelemnvorans are fully empowered to hold back the progress of knowledge.

  • _Those who have travelled to the east of the city lately have almost unfailingly come across a strange cowled man seated by the outermost gate. Attempts to communicate with him are met with failure, as his attention seems focused on a particular member of the local ecosystem.

Some of the more intuitive might sense that the stranger's very soul is exhausted beyond belief. The reason for his presence, however, remains a mystery…_

  • Some people notice a rather localized tremor near the watchtower to the south. While the reason for this remains unclear, a small group of Sails reportedly enters Peltarch from there, looking rather stabbed and cut up. Their main topic of conversation seems to circle around some extraplanar creatures - commonly only known from nightmares - that they supposedly fought. The Sails mainly appear too tired to talk much, though, and proceed with only little delay towards the docks. Where they supposedly trade their new cock-and-bull story for other, equally horrifying tall tales from other sea faring people.
