Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • _Bright lights once again flare from the swamplands, and while multicoloured and bright, they have nothing to do with the bubbly bard Aesso. These lights spell trouble of a sort not seen for the past few months, spitting out creatures of nightmare and chaos. It is rumoured that a few of the monstrosities got all the way to the city's inner gates before a trio of adventurers put a halt to them, though not before two guards went down in the fighting.

A certain crimson-haired bard insists that the stonefisted dwarf, Durgram, flew like greased lightning across the swampy ground at the hasting magic of the beautiful sorceress Mialee, playing a key role in ridding the area of danger!_

  • ::Rumor has it that Nate has visited Elvadriel and requested her to teleport him to Suzail. Or perhaps, says another version, he took a carriage to the local mage's guild and requested someone there. Either way, he hasn't been seen since. The reasons for his departure vary, although one of them says he went to settle some sort of family dispute over a card game turned into a political squabble. Shortly before his departure, he was seen entering the bardic college with Isolde Garibaldi, murmuring quietly as they made their through towards the master's quarters::

  • Kathea was seen leaving Peltarch one morning, wearing leather armors that seemed out of place for her, and showing very little of the usual cheer and mirth she often had. With a determined look she set south and west, muttering a soft prayer as she headed out for Sembia.

  • Rumors spread that one of the more prominent bards of the region, Aesso the self-titled "Amazing," is missing. Nobody has seen or heard from her in some time. Some rumors have it that she completed her allegedly dangerous instrument and it imploded while doing one of her performances. There have been mumbles and murmurings of a a halfling with brown hair asking questions at the docks regarding wish scrolls in an effort to search for her.

Other people gossip about strange dreams they've been having. The clergy has seen a slight increase of people visiting and complaining of nightmares. Most disregard the dreams; others, blame the Bardic college for having leaked some of its water into the city's main supplies. Others, still, suggest that it has to do with delayed shock caused by the demonic siege some time ago.

  • _The bath house, tongues wag, has either fallen prey to vandalism or seen the onset of a new trend as both pools and steam room is filled with a fine grained, incredibly persistant purple-pink glitter. The stuff catches in the bathers hair, onto their skin, sticks to everything with a stubborn, albeit rather pleasing shimmer.

Actually, it must be all the rage, mustn't it? Why, even the sundial shimmers purple, and one of the city's own Defenders sports glittering sideburns, just as the bard Isolde Garibaldi and the stout and fashionable dwarf Gnarl Holst.

On a wholly darker subject matter, there's rumour of necromancy most foul in the woods past the orcs cavern, scores of broken bones and rotting bodies littering the forest floor._

  • The Halfling Defence League

Rumor has it that a small adventuring party encountered what one of their number described as a "nest" of ghouls in Peltarch's sewers, replete with dozens of bodies strewn all over the site.

  • _Hearing the rumors of murders, Mark, the one-eyed swordsman, spends some days in the docks's pubs and inns, mostly offering his guard services to pretty and single women.

Eventually, he tries to catch rumors and gossips about the ongoings, and tries to speak to a city guard or two to see if any diferent activities were reported near the sewers entrance._

  • _Rumours of a spree of murders taking place all in the one night spread across Peltarch. Most people agree the majority of the killings took place in the docks, and that in one way or another the Seafarers Guild or those with ties to them were the ones targeted.

Low lives and debtors alike sleep with one eye open, as more details emerge about the grisly crime scenes, with those guards unlucky enough to be on duty that night looking pale-faced and unsettled.

General Velhar of the Peltarch Guard is reportedly working closely with the Knights of the Cerulean Star in a thorough investigation._

  • Rumors run rampant of a certain new business owner looking to create a wine cellar next to none and is offering a full box of gold (ore) for such efforts. It is rumored that Ras and even the Wine Mistress Anna have both been heard to be gathering their best. A note has been posted on the bard college as it is rumored their best stock is Alvi's favorite wine.

  • Raryldor begins investigating the matter in his way, enspelling himself and travelling the night alone

  • The Halfling Defence League

Rumors persist of dual commotions at the docks and the western gate in the past few days. They appear to have occurred at roughly the same time, with a large contingent of guards having moved to secure the docks while another contingent fought with a large number of zombies at the gates to the city.

A large party of adventurers, notably including magistrate D'arneau and inquisitor Zarah'kifa, then headed northwest where a colossal battle is said to have occurred.

Details are sketchy, but rumors persist of vampires preparing an assault on the city.

  • Hen keeps a constant watch over the Icelace waters, her gaze hardly faltering for more than a drink or to move spots or drink. She seems to be looking for somthing and seemed quite determined as she stalked the shores from the Docks to the edge of the cove and beyond.

  • _Rumor has it Elvadriel Gal'awen has come into possession of a strange, blackened tree branch. There are different stories as to it's origin, but several dubious sources will swear the strange branch summoned terrible wraiths and visages all around her.

Worse still, one dubious source has a cousin who was best friends with one of the witnesses, and according to him, Elvadriel was extremely evasive when a group of adventures questioned her directly about the branch - and even managed to teleport herself and the item out of Peltarch's legal reach.

Old rumors of Elvadriel's alleged involvement in dark magic and necromancy surfaces here and there. Surely she was an innocent bystander? Perhaps her curiosity got the best of her. Afterall, she defended Peltarch valiantly, didn't she?_

  • _The Inquisitor Nuwairah Zarah'kifa appears to have changed her usual steely image, to wear a more elegant, flourish and darker armour that reminds of that found in stories of gothic castles, baronesses and counts.

Although it's early to say, she also appears to have become somewhat gentler in her mannerisms, perhaps due to the fact that the one that threatened her sanity, the psycopath known as Chirade, has finally met his end._

  • Raryldor keeps tabs on the seafarer's activities, particularly where "elf" and "debtor" meet

  • _Word spreads that the Docks are in a little bit of an uproar; the Seafarers Guild has been ferreting out old debtors from their hiding places with considerable competence and now the rats are scurrying to avoid paying up. The guard in the Docks are complaining about all the extra work as paperwork piles up, as the Seafarers demand they arrest anyone not willing to pay up when they come asking.

The rest of the dockfolks are just enjoying the show, local gossips and loudmouths having a field day in the taverns._

  • Rumor has it that Chirade has been slain. The story goes on to talk about how the brave and heroic Defender Captain Talbot orchestrated the investigation team through difficult times after inheriting the case from the disenfranchised Tristyn.

Apparently, Captain Talbot is up for promotion.

Some in more learned circles speak of Nuwairah, Elvadriel, Isolde, Anna, Lunia, Chea, and Arnie as the adventurers and heroes who traveled into the elf's ruins and lair to confront him directly, though.

  • _Rumour has it Vanity Plate's own Vick collapsed in a quivering heap at the sight of master bard Nate Wingates, sporting a pair of extremely tight mauve trousers. The titillating rumours go on to suggest that the following helpful mouth to mouth recuscitation attempt was a little TOO well appreciated by the male fashionista…

In slightly less bardically flaired rumours, denizens of the docks district speak in marvelled tones about the beautiful mer-creature visiting recently. Laireel, as most agree her name to be, was seen speaking to a group of adventurers at the docks, sending them off on some sort of quest. In returning, all adventurers present looked exceedingly worn, scorched, sooty, sweat-soaked and torn by untold dangers._

  • Rumor has it there's a note posted by Peltarch's Defender-Priestess of Chauntea on the tools box at the Peltarch crafting hall that reads:

"Please do not take tools just to melt down for ingots, its quite inconsiderate.

    -Anna Blake"

  • The Halfling Defence League

Word spreads around town that Roslyn, the scrawny hin trapspringer, sprung a very different sort of trap! According to her own accounts, people swear, she was accosted by a black-and-red clad druid of some sort in the narrow, wooded trail that leads to the Witch and Seer. Said druid reportedly used magic to surround her with trees that grew so thick that she could not pass. It seems she somehow made it out of the ordeal unscathed, but often mentioned in the same breath as this story is the threat of a new bloodhunt along one of the most important travel routes through the Nars.
