Tavern Rumors of Peltarch
-
This year's Neap Tide, held by Istishia's shrine in the docks, proved a joyous event for all, in particular for Estella, initiated into the faith and completing her first Ride, praised be Istishia! The event also saw some rather unusual guests arriving by water, namely two sea elves who brought some just as unusual weaponry with them for a sale. Yet all was not well, as something troubling stirred below - and so a team of volunteers were sent down into the chill waters of the Icelace, returning victorious and grinning, a while later. Popular rumour has it the dashing young Cerulean Jonni Aelthasson beheaded a great shark!
-
Raryldor will quietly, and discretely, check on the elves and do what he can to ensure their well-being.
-
Sirion happens upon the inn, asking about the liberated elves.
-
A mage dressed in a deep red velvet cloak is seen carrying a basket full of bottles of rum. She is leaving from the Mermaid at exact the same time everyday heading towards the docks.
-
_As the sun drops below the horizon one night, the bright pink cloak of the well known Defender Aelthas was seen heading into the Mermaid with a few of the Lighthouse Temple staff at his side.
A short time later the Temple staff, Aelthas and a small group of robed women left the Mermaid and headed straight for the Lighthouse Temple, all disappearing inside and not coming out.
Does the pink werewolf have a new harem even at his tender old age… and his wife is allowing it?_

Suddenly the Inn of Peltarch becomes overpopulated with female elves. When asked, some will tell the story about being freed slaves from a ship, and that they are waiting for some person to point them to a place they can live at.
Rumor is also, that far away into the sea, a burning ship could be spottted, and shortly after a large creature "docked" in peltarch ground, dissapearing all of the sudden.
-
Rumours continue to buzz about mysterious body doubles, said to be anything from sheer illusion to monsterous doppelgangers - or the even further remote possibility of everyone and their uncle having an identical twin! One disturbing rumour even claims Guard Captain Lisa herself has an identical double, far less lawful…
-
Word soon spreads that the feared necromancer lich Ser'Khal, responsible for a number of horrific undead attacks, has been defeated by a group lead by the city's newest Cerulean star, Jonni Aelthasson. Prominent figures from the Order of the Divine Shield, the Legion, Spellweaver's Keep and the Wolves of Narfell are said to have assisted the city forces in the effort, alongside non-affiliated and equally heroic volunteers. A day for celebration (verily)!
-
Unconfirmed rumours claim a man was almost eaten by a werewolf in Ashald Park…
And rumours more well grounded speak of an attack by undead at the very heart of the city, the Commons littered with both skeletal and bloated zombie remains. A big hole is dug at the corner of the commons, disrupting a few flowers but also, it is said, disrupting the portal which spat the powerful undead out.
-
Chea, witch under service of Peltarch has been noticed in Oscura, chit-chatting with Jario and Len occasionally.
-
"She did it, she killed him! I'll swear it under a Truth spell!", the man exlaimed shakily, backing fearfully away from the young blonde next to Guard Captain Lisa.
"I'm sure it looked exactly like me, but it really wasn't", the young woman replies, biting her lip before offering to be taken to jail, though the guard captain shakes her head.
"I can't believe this of you, Nica", Lisa continues, suggesting a one week respite while investigations are underway. Whether due to the young woman's parents being who they are, or the rumours of body doubles circulating all of Narfell, it seems this potential killer is free to walk the streets.
-
A sudden snowstorm rolls in over the city, bringing with it bitterly cold winds and a sense of unease as there seems to be something strange about the storm. It seems to halt between the city and the Icelace beach, icy waves lashing against the cliffs below. Folks on the farmsteads might well have seen a group making their way down the slippery rock to the caves below, returning bloodied and bruised. Rumours speak of orcs, even mentioning a single orc crossing the farms in a desperate attempt to escape from the group, which included such stout figures as the dwarves Beorn and Gnarl, and Rats 'N Bats legend, Horbag Hurkink.
-
Four adventurers were seen coming through West Gate and gathering in the Commons, dividing up (apparently lots of) gold. Leena, Nica, Shesarai, and Gnarl spoke about encountering several very large and powerful orcs not usually seen in the Orc Cave nearest to town. These included guardians, casters, and one ghostly orc. All apparently were defeated. A small and lazy orc that avoided the battle told them a shaman had brought the ghost to haunt the dreams of humans. The Shaman left days before. Perhaps he will return?

After hearing stories of the thorny plant creature threat, Marty empties her coin purse buying "gardening supplies". Her bandolier and thigh holsters are now loaded with an assortment of scrolls and wands. Folks who know about scrolls may recognize some the the seals. Fireballs, acid spells, and an assortment of other offensive magical scrolls and wands. Keen eyes may also notice a quiver full of Oscuran acid arrows, acid flasks and flasks of alchemist fire.
"Yeah, I'm going to garden the living shite out of those freaks."
After telling a handful of talkative people where she was going, Marty marches south to war.

_More crazy rumours! A strange and magical looking box can be observed on the road just outside Peltarch's inner gates, no one seeming able or willing to move it from the swirling rainbow-coloured lights surrounding it. The horse seller seems to be suffering from weak nerves, if he's even at his post, and the guards are decidedly twitchy.
The box itself is shrouded in strange rumours, some say a dragon popped out of it to eat the horse-seller, while others claim it was a prison. Once opened, it released a menagerie of beasts both natural and supernatural, including chickens, gigantic bears and a werewolf!
Other peculiar happenings which may or may not be the talk of the local farmsteads is the sighting of a big man, stark naked but for a bearskin cloak, carrying a squealing woman off to the the cliffside caverns for… well, the gossip grows to a horrified whisper at this point._
-
_The Zombie Apocalypse is here! Or wait.. perhaps it was just a handful of zombies, shuffling down the streets and crying out for every zombie's delight - braaiiiIIIIiiiins…
Vague rumours say the disgusting zombies devoured the brains of a troll in the middle of the city, before having a shuffle-race all the way to the door of the Mermaid. Their peculiar display ended at the commons, where one of them lifted it's raggedy loin-cloth to terrify a little girl! The high pitched shriek echoed down Peltarch's streets, before oddly turning to giggles...
While some patrons at the Mermaid might swear they saw a fire-winged Balor and others insist there was a big mass of brains, the commons seem free of all kinds of monstrosities the following day and no worse for wear. There is, however, a faint trace of pixie dust centered on the commons._

Rumours fly about a giant kobold out for gnomish blood! Though the details may vary, all mention the fireflinging Jimmeh and the sweet prankster Gilda as key figures in the downfall of the gargantuan reptilian, on top of the outer walls of the city.
-
An old man, frail and near deathly pale, can be noticed sitting immobile and uncommunicative before the central fire at the Mermaid, for days on end. The man seems in a deep trance, and the frequent concerned company of gnomish healer Gilda and the young blonde Nica seems to go unregistered. Nica seems to favour simply sitting beside the old man, studying either himself or the dancing flames of the fire.
-
Cray was spotted in the Mermaid buying large amounts of merchandise from some adventurers. A while later he was seen carting boxes and bags to the Peltarch market, where he unloaded the goods at the trading post.
-
As some more observant people might have noticed or been a part of it seems a Fire Giant has taken up residence in the Peltarch jail.
