Finale over, transition week information

  • Thanks to everyone who came out and fought the good fight for well over a month of what was a fairly grueling plotline.

We had envisioned numerous ways things could wind up, the most likely being a N'Jast occupation of Peltarch OR their defeat at Peltarch and retreat to Fort Ormpur. What wound up happening was a bit more complete than that, in good and bad ways. Likewise due to PC decisions the death and destruction in Peltarch proper was more than we expected, while in parts of Norwick it was less (most of the town) and in parts more (Sam's Hole).

At some point we'll do a behind the scenes look at how some events and actions had us scrambling to adjust, shaking our heads in bemusement, or just going, "whoa."

Build 9 is now upon us. Hence the main point of this post:

A lot of the key plot people and all of the key dev people on the DM Team are going to be exclusively focused on implementing B9 for the next week or so. Due to the open-ended nature of things while we were able to do a lot in advance, we had to leave a lot for the last minute. And some stuff got done in the 'nick of time'. This means do not expect or ask for module changes, world changes, major plot advancement, or really much of anything 'permanent' for about a week. In fact, feel free to consider the next week 'slow time' in which a RL day is a game day, and nothing of huge import or urgency is occuring.

We will still have some DMs in game, particularly our freshmen, and you can and should still adventure and do light RP. This is a good opportunity to wander and have a look at the old place, to refresh potion supplies which I know have taken a beating, and to generally relax a bit after having stared into the abyss for over a month.

We are hoping to be done and implement B9 in a week or two, and will let people know if that changes.

Thanks for your patience and all the enthusiasm, ideas, and effort you all put into the finale. It was a lot of fun for us on the DM team, even if it was the sort of fun you need a short coma to recover from.
