Fall of Night

A mage named llmare goes around to the kiyydians and assures them he is doing all he can to find a loop hole in the darkness, even says he is eliminateing thins one by one and he can only fail so many times before he succeds
He leaves hopeing this cheers the farmers and such of jiyyd

Tendays into the darkness and the atmosphere is very split.
The Jiyydians, already slightly disspirited for a variety of reasons, seem to grow glummier and more dreadfilled with the darkness reigning over. The Farmers feel its an ill omen, lamenting their crops.
The native Norwickians however seem to be handling it well. Strange magical phenomina and affects are less unusual in the long history of the town and its people are a rugged bunch. Many speak curses to the Darkness and the man that brought it, but they go about their lives. The initial fright of it passing, they proceed along their day. Many seem to growing fond of the Lathander follower's sermons, recalling the days of yore with the blind priestess Rith.
-
The atmosphere of the town continues to go in different directions.
The prostilitizing Lathander raised spirits for a bit, but many are beginning to feel he is here to give good words and not good solutions. Some still appreciate these and gravitate to his sermons while others are rather unaffected.
With the crop issues from the darkness, the farmers and those close to them, continue to have a dampened mood. Many of the Jiyyd refugee's feed of this as well, as many of the new farmers in Norwick were previous ones of Jiyyd and the farms represented a piece of home. Attitudes towards the Realms government espicially have soured with the rumors of Norwicks work with N'jast, the ever present darkness, and now a rumor that the officials of the town are seeking to scapegoat Jiyydians. The recent arrest of a Jiyyd youth and a rumor that their advisors now run inquisitions of their citizens seeming to be the fuel for such rumors.
However with the recent food shipments the attitude of most native Norwick residents has not been too affected from the reports of loss of crops. Out of sight, out of mind. The darkness has them uneasy but for the most part they are untouched by the war, and are thus as content as one could imagine in times such as these.
Attacks continue upon the gates every few days, though they have been generally small. A handfull of goblins, generally put down by the few present guards and local adventurer's.

Sain can be seen traveling about the town, talking to folks here and there, assisting in chores, and more noticeably giving impromptu sermons.
"Norwick is a fine town, and there is much here to be proud of, but you must not let that pride turn your hearts from the path of light. Let me share a lesson from a tale of Norwick of old. There were once two priests of Lathander charged with the destruction of a mighty creature of shadows within the crypts of Tarien Norwick. Together they ammassed an eager and brave bunch of adventurers of a like mind to free the town's graveyard from the icy grip of this fiend.
They traveled deep down into the crypts, until soon they were facing the shadowy minions of the creature, leaping out from every alcove, their red eyes all the warning given. With the fury of dawn's light the priests did smite the abominations back, again and again until they came to the stairwell, somehow darker still than even the pitch of the crypts, where below they knew their quarry lay. At this point, they had much weakened the creatures minions, who were now few and far between, but they themselves were wounded and tired, and many counseled they should withdraw and finish the deed with new strength and arms.
The first priest said the light of Lathander was with them, and their might was such that they could never withdraw nor be defeated in their noble goal. His words won out and down they went. None escaped, save one, who was the other priest, allowed to leave by the cruelty of the Shade they faced and died before, to tell the town of Norwick it did not intend to be moved from their crypts.
Pride was what slew the ill-fated band, even though they had reasons to be proud as they cut through the waves of shadows. There is darkness in the tale I have told, but from it the light of hope, for sure enough the fiend in the tale was destroyed, and sure enough many of those who fell were restored with aid of the noble Friar of the town. To take humility in all tasks great and small is a virtue such that one's accomplishments will be remembered with honour for all time."

:: seems someone is giving out 'glow sticks' to children. They last an hour to two hours before losing their enchantment but the children seem to enjoy running around with their glowing sticks lighting their way in the darkness.::

@e2b4717be6=Caoimh:
Darkness is something the wicked would have you fear, something they would have you succumb to!
upon hearing this bit a man leaning on a quarterstaff commented
But there's so many wonderful people out here… in the dark... Grins

Also a dwarven Monk of the Order of the Sun Souls following the will of the Dawnmaster has settled down in Norwick. He goes by the Name of Dilinus Gest. He will assist the Priest of Lathander in any way he can if he meets him.
There is always antoher morning!
-
The Lord Chancellor himself trudges through the darkness towards "Jiyydtown" (as its being called) to find this new enlightening priest.
-
Travelling from afar, and north through the perils of the Rawlinswood, a lone priest of Lathander by name of Sain Doquaight arrives in Norwick under its unrelenting cover of darkness in hopes of restoring the Morninglord's dawn to the beleagered town. News of his arrival spreads through the town rapidly, largely due to the crowd he managed to gather on his arrival, preaching words of hope to them in these troubled times.
"My friends, I have come from lands afar to this place of darkness to answer the call of the Morninglord! Know that this inky darkness that veils your home is but a paltry thing, a distraction! Darkness is something the wicked would have you fear, something they would have you succumb to! I say different! This darkness is a petty thing, a woe far inferior to those you have already endured, those you have already overcome!
The true malice of this darkness is its spread, not over your town, but into your hearts. That, above all, is the darkness I have come to quash! That above all is the darkness I have come to banish! The spirit of the Morning must blaze within your chests before it can once more blaze above your town!
This may seem a heavy demand, for I know you have had reason plenty to have shadows overcasting your hearts in these grim times. But there is light at the end of all tunnels, and a glorious dawn at the end of even the darkest of nights!
So too is there hope for this town and all her peoples, even in her darkest hour, and that small spark of hope is waiting for all of you, waiting to blaze anew in to a radiant candesence, and I will be here to see it so!"
After this rather memorable arrival, the priest takes up residence with the refugees from Jiyyd, with the promise of more sermons to come.

A large, multi-cart shipment of food brings some relief to the refugees and farmers that feared the worst of starvation. The Red-cloaked militia takes special care in distributing these rations, doing their best to keep track of who received their daily food-stuffs.
-
Many guards, adventurers, and residents let out a bit of relief that along with the night has not brought many further attacks from the south. Many are still uneasy about the darkness but are settling a bit with the lack of seemingly further issues.
The farmers, both originally from Norwick and those that have came from Jiyyd, are quite the opposite however. Reports that many of the crops that had been growing, and were planted due to the increase in population and demand, have been dieing due to the lack of sunlight for some time now. As of yet though, this news hasn't fully settled in with the rest of the population.
-
Old monk dressed in yellow and red is seen most of the time by the Norwick fire. Every now and then he whispers soft prayers to morninglord, but mostly keeps his eyes closed, like he would be listening something very carefully.
For those who join him by the fire, he grants warm smile and with very unfinished sentences assure that sun is still there, all one needs is to look inside himself.
"Night no dark day, tee-hee"
"Sun always, sunny now, yesyes, tee-hee"

The Chancellor and his people walk about, handing out torches and lighting fires, constantly telling everyone its just "a fools witchery", or "parlor tricks" and those responsible will soon be locked away.
