Fall of Night
-
The man in clain mail with a walking stick isn't seen much but strange lights and music come from the graveyard from time to time.
-
The Chancellor and his senior advisers do their best to show their faces to both the New Norwickians as well as the famillies that have been their for generations.
They are seen often in the East Valley, particularly near the Old Sawmill where Dwin and several of the masters from the Crafters Union have been seen working on the old mill and trying to make it operational again.
Dwin also makes it known that any Jiyyd families that have been displaced and might lack the funds to build a new home should come see him so that he might help them start anew. He has offered to suspend the cost for "citizen papers" for any of these folks as well.
-
As the darkness has cleared and spirits improve, activity begins anew.
A number of the farmers of Jiyyd have been seen in the east valley. Numerous farmhouses have begun to be put up, fences placed, and new crops planted. The going is slow, but steady, and the people doing the building seem to like it that way. Many find it a touch of normalcy as they begin to return to a normal life.
Many Norwickians and Jiyydian refugees take the currnet time of relative peace and prosperity in lumber to begin to build a stable life. Houses go up within the town, stretching up to its northern reaches.
Rumors of a group of some of the more well off Jiyydians seeking Thander in regards to some piece of business abound, though what these entrepreneurs have in mind is unknown.
With the fear gone the fortifications make progress. The gate near the north neck of town is patched from age and damage, and the northern gate approaches completion.
The town is buzzing with activity, as its citizens…new and old...seeming to be full of new hope and gumption.
-
The man in scale mail with a walking stick mummbles about the stupit light, then wanders off towards the graveyard to sulk.
-
A quiet woman dressed in a yellow robe is seen spending many hours praying and meditating in the sunlight, as if making up for lost time.
-
Myeil can be heard muttering to herself
About bloody time. What were they wasting their time on while most everyone else was obliterating the realm to counter N'jast?
-
Huzzah!
*Z wakes to the new day, with sunlight streaming into his bedroom, and smiles.
After saying his morning prayers and a quick breakfast, he hurriedly heads out to his fields to replant his crops.
Despite the hard physical labor, he seems happy.*

Night finally breaks.
A mix of rumors swirl about it. Some say the death of Corde ended it, others speak of evil tree's cut down, while others still speak of it as a gift from Lathander and his Priest that was sent to the town. Whatever the reason, daylight finally comes once more to Norwick.
The affects of the darkness is still present however. Many sections of the wall in the east valley and buildings are burned, there seems to be a number of houses now deserted from people who fled and the Redcloaks even seem slightly smaller in number compared to what previously patrolled before it. Food is still short, however farmers return now to the fields to see what they can do in regards to the dead croplands.
Life…slowly...seems to be returning to normal.

during the chaos and fear, a man in scale mail with a walking stick, randomly stops people and explains why they need not fear the dark or comments on how wonderful it is.
"But the darkness is your friend, think of the many things you can not do with out it!"
"There’s so many wonderful people out here… in the dark."
"Darkness, darkness everywhere and not a icky sun to see!"
"Isn’t the darkness wonderful?"
"Embrace the shadows! For it is your only secure hope!"
"If you're so worryed about crops, why not get some from the underdark? they don't need light."

The Chancellor, himself looking a bit shaken, puts out a call to any and all priests, clerics, druids or anyone considering themselves close to their gods to meet at the central fire.
"We need srength of heart right now, and we need our spiritual healers to show us the light, quite literally!"
"One of our priests has a plan, and we need to act quickly!"
"Norwickians! Jiyyd-folk! Hins of the Valley! We've beaten the fool, now his stench is all that remains! Let us rise together as one to remove it forever!"
Nods I'm with ya, old friend.

Corde has fallen. So the rumors say. A battle at the south gate, once more with the red glowing balls, ensued. Corde appeared, though seeemingly with a different tact then historicans of the Orc War would note, and engaged battle. The warrior Maya charged forward to meet him but was met with a touch as blood exited her body in every opening possible; a blessing of Tempus being the only thing to save her. In the end, his own forces in their fright blocked his way allowing the cleric Z to make the final blow. His body vanished, evaporating into shadow, leaving only a holy symbol which was struck asunder by Maya.
And then Chaos ensued.
People began to scream, others simply cowered in fear, but all eventually tried to make it indoors. The common folk in Norwick or those with lesser will were stricken with a vast fear of the Night. Some time during the night a fire broke out in the east valley, the walls set ablaze by some going crazy with the fear, desperately wanting light. The fire did not sate them. Redcloaks were seen on the scene shortly after, dousing the flames after significant damage that had spread to some of the farmland and buildings. The people were rounded up and taken to jail.
The Bar has had repeated fist fights, or worse, as people flee and drink due to the fear. Many are flooding into the Healers with legitimate injuries and others imagined due to the overwhelming fear in their minds.

The Jiyydians regards the charismatic mage generally with stoic thank you's to more kind and cheerful reactions. Some wish him luck while others implore him not to give up on the task. In general, those that talk with him are slightly more confident about what may happen with the darkness.
-
A mage named llmare goes around to the kiyydians and assures them he is doing all he can to find a loop hole in the darkness, even says he is eliminateing thins one by one and he can only fail so many times before he succeds
He leaves hopeing this cheers the farmers and such of jiyyd

Tendays into the darkness and the atmosphere is very split.
The Jiyydians, already slightly disspirited for a variety of reasons, seem to grow glummier and more dreadfilled with the darkness reigning over. The Farmers feel its an ill omen, lamenting their crops.
The native Norwickians however seem to be handling it well. Strange magical phenomina and affects are less unusual in the long history of the town and its people are a rugged bunch. Many speak curses to the Darkness and the man that brought it, but they go about their lives. The initial fright of it passing, they proceed along their day. Many seem to growing fond of the Lathander follower's sermons, recalling the days of yore with the blind priestess Rith.
-
The atmosphere of the town continues to go in different directions.
The prostilitizing Lathander raised spirits for a bit, but many are beginning to feel he is here to give good words and not good solutions. Some still appreciate these and gravitate to his sermons while others are rather unaffected.
With the crop issues from the darkness, the farmers and those close to them, continue to have a dampened mood. Many of the Jiyyd refugee's feed of this as well, as many of the new farmers in Norwick were previous ones of Jiyyd and the farms represented a piece of home. Attitudes towards the Realms government espicially have soured with the rumors of Norwicks work with N'jast, the ever present darkness, and now a rumor that the officials of the town are seeking to scapegoat Jiyydians. The recent arrest of a Jiyyd youth and a rumor that their advisors now run inquisitions of their citizens seeming to be the fuel for such rumors.
However with the recent food shipments the attitude of most native Norwick residents has not been too affected from the reports of loss of crops. Out of sight, out of mind. The darkness has them uneasy but for the most part they are untouched by the war, and are thus as content as one could imagine in times such as these.
Attacks continue upon the gates every few days, though they have been generally small. A handfull of goblins, generally put down by the few present guards and local adventurer's.
-
Sain can be seen traveling about the town, talking to folks here and there, assisting in chores, and more noticeably giving impromptu sermons.
"Norwick is a fine town, and there is much here to be proud of, but you must not let that pride turn your hearts from the path of light. Let me share a lesson from a tale of Norwick of old. There were once two priests of Lathander charged with the destruction of a mighty creature of shadows within the crypts of Tarien Norwick. Together they ammassed an eager and brave bunch of adventurers of a like mind to free the town's graveyard from the icy grip of this fiend.
They traveled deep down into the crypts, until soon they were facing the shadowy minions of the creature, leaping out from every alcove, their red eyes all the warning given. With the fury of dawn's light the priests did smite the abominations back, again and again until they came to the stairwell, somehow darker still than even the pitch of the crypts, where below they knew their quarry lay. At this point, they had much weakened the creatures minions, who were now few and far between, but they themselves were wounded and tired, and many counseled they should withdraw and finish the deed with new strength and arms.
The first priest said the light of Lathander was with them, and their might was such that they could never withdraw nor be defeated in their noble goal. His words won out and down they went. None escaped, save one, who was the other priest, allowed to leave by the cruelty of the Shade they faced and died before, to tell the town of Norwick it did not intend to be moved from their crypts.
Pride was what slew the ill-fated band, even though they had reasons to be proud as they cut through the waves of shadows. There is darkness in the tale I have told, but from it the light of hope, for sure enough the fiend in the tale was destroyed, and sure enough many of those who fell were restored with aid of the noble Friar of the town. To take humility in all tasks great and small is a virtue such that one's accomplishments will be remembered with honour for all time."

:: seems someone is giving out 'glow sticks' to children. They last an hour to two hours before losing their enchantment but the children seem to enjoy running around with their glowing sticks lighting their way in the darkness.::
