3. The Spiderhunters

The Spiderhunters


  • It was (last night) in Narfell, when an intrepid group of adventurers went out into the crypts to go deep into the underdark, and find the giant spider menace plaguing the lands.

    They were not past the very first level of the crypts when things went awry, and several members of the group nearly lost their lives, after being besieged by several rather powerful Vampires, and hordes of their undead minions.

    After a short time of decision, they decided to press on anyhow, battle weary but debating putting up camp once they find a safe place and post a guard, to recover their strength and spirits, but that was not to be.

    The undead proved too strategicically prepared, and again, our forces nearly suffered losses.

    They retreated to the Rawlins, to the safety of the druid's glen, but two stayed behind. An unlikely two, for the task they are rumored to have done.
    The Paladin of Kelemvor, Kara, and the Druid of Meilikki, Jerrick. They went back, and called out the vampires, to palaver with them.
    And palaver one powerful one did… after of course, he sent minion vampires under cover of magical darkness to attack the two, likely to test their strength.

    Unhurt by the smaller abominations, Kara and Jerrick told the vampire why they were there, and found they were in agreement on the cause of wanting the spiders gone, and the vampires said they would leave us be if our purpose was to be rid of them.

    And leave the adventurers be they did.

    Hours later and countless battles with spiders, they found the queen spider... the old queen spider was fond once the "new" queen skittered away, and she had a captive. Tobias, a Legionnaire, apparently grabbed through a Privy in Oscura, while he was using it.

    It was gearing up to be a terrible fight, when the spider recoiled at the sight of the druid in the group, and the staff he held, and fled.
    Jerrick had mentioned something about a power he had in him for the purpose of fighting the taint creatures, but didn't know it would have THAT effect.

    It escaped, and there were no casualties from the group. There will surely be plans to hunt it again, and until then, everyone will likely be wary of anything crawly near them, after seeing a spider as large as the Legion Hall...
