Kurt Windwhistle

  • Kurt Windwhistle is a passionate adventurer who has sought fame for as long as he can remember. He believes in heroism and might make impulsive decisions if he decides that he has to do something for the greater good. A lack of food or gold won't matter the slightest to him, because he believes that he'll be rewarded in the end. Sometimes the reward might only be the feeling of having done a good deed, but usually at least food and a fine bed to sleep on, maybe even something shiny.

After hearing the tall tales of returning adventurers for his whole childhood, Kurt started preparing himself for leaving home. He always had his own beliefs about the preparations, and he ignored much of the teachings of his elders, prefering to imitate the heroes of the stories. He learnt many of the tricks of his heroes, like acrobatics, pickpocketing and hiding while playing with childhood friends who admired the same heroes, but always thought that he'd feel safer on the road wearing a bit of armor with weapons readied. At the age of 20, pouches full of equipment and foodstuff, this hin left his society along with several others of similar age.His carefree attitude repeatedly brought him in the midst of conflict and danger, which he quickly found to be his favorite place to be.

At the first sight Kurt may look irresponsible and even dangerous to his allies, but his sense of duty and his uncanny survival ability, whether in the wilderness or on the streets, has kept him and his companions alive through the worst. He has even earned the respect of a wandering group of dwarves he spent a long time with afterwards, searching for buried treasure, as far as he remembers.

If they found any treasure or not, Kurt does not remember. At some point of his travels he lost a major part of his memories, and now he's searching for the cause of the amnesia. He believes that he has forgotten something grand and refuses to lose a tale of his own, the tale for which he has fought himself. His first memory after meeting the dwarves might be years later, being woken up by a nightmare in a far-away inn inside a room that had been paid in advance. He shrugged it all off at first, continuing his journey to fame, but after feeling that his later adventures were somehow bland compared to his past experiences he tried to recall what he could have done back when he was with the dwarves and only remembered an overwhelming fear, a feeling he almost never experiences..

Now Kurt has sold many of his possessions to finance his way northwards, seeking bigger adventures. After all, he won't be returning home without becoming a hero first. Even though he has forgotten the exact whereabouts of his past home as well, he believes that he will have no problem finding it with instinct when he needs to. Fortunately, Kurt ended up earning a few coins from the caravan he traveled with by defending it during a bandit attack and acting as one of the guards for it thereafter, so he feels exceptionally well-off for a good-for-nothing hin adventurer standing on the soil of Narfell.
