    Character - Calen Ashwyn

Shunned by almost all the elves and humans alike in Tethyr and hoping to find information on his blood parents Calen has traveled around from place to place looking for somewhere to call home. He has found coin as a builder, a painter, a scribe, a field hand, and most recently a mercenary and personal guard. This work has sustained him to continue his search.

While traveling through a town, like many he can not even remember the name of, he overheard a familiar discussion of the differences between humans, hin, gnomes, dwarves, and elves. The human men drinking heavily continued through the night unaware of Calen or him watching and listening. Their ignorance and stupidity flowed through their mouths and as the evening wore on the conversation turned to lands where all lived in perpetual harmony. Though they were quite drunk Calen began noting and drawing from their descriptions and when he was certain their talk had turned to nothing but boasting of times well past them, he gathered his belongings and and set out for Narville.

His journey was long and treacherous almost losing his life more than once. After a year of searching, he came upon a caravan filled with many different types of people. He found the leader and began recounting his tale and showing the notes and maps he had drawn. The heavy bearded jovial man began to laugh, looking at Calen in disbelief. "Ya 'ave been searching far a year, boy?" His laughter stung and all Calen could do was nod. "I have." To Calen's surprise, the man began to draw and scratch over the parchment with his notes and maps and then handing them back, "wit all you 'ave faced thus faer, lad, ya should knaew. Ya do nay look far a town, ya look far a cuntry made af many lands," he begins to laugh again_,"from all ya 'ave shown mae, ya search far Nar-fell. Them drunken fools 'ere more thun likely to drunk bea the time they saed it they could nay spaek correc'ly"_ Calen's eyes lowered feeling embarrassed until a comment brought a small grin to his face when the man spoke his thoughts out loud, "prob'ly sume gaed dwarven ale. 'ope it gave 'em a 'eadache ". Calen asked about the corrections to his notes and maps and after a few minutes of directions he was on his way with fresh water and meat. He smiled and waved to the caravan leader as they pulled away as well.

He kneeled a minute beside the road to offer a prayer to Helm for thanks and His watchful eye over the journey ahead, then stepping a bit more purposeful he was headed in the right direction. Over and again repeating the name Narfell.
