Alestair Roydon

  • "The Journey of Alestair Roydon", through the eyes of Alestair himself.

The trees seemingly close in upon me though the voices grow more clear as I fight my way through the brush. Thoughts of worry and confusion spreading slowly though me. The forrest has ne'er been this hostile. There is something terribly wrong. All my searching and travels for naught?

looking about as my hearing catches a familiar sound upon the wind, could it be? stops and gazes about using all his senses Nay tis not a relieved sigh escapes

Following the moss upon the trees to find the den I had used just two days previously. I need make shelter soon and place quill to parchment. His mind holds but only one other thought, "He told me to never forget, No one should forget." After quickly throwing off his scent from and hiding the small entrance to the den, I easily slip through the tight opening I mudded down previously and fall into the main chamber with a resounding thud almost landing directly upon the stone that is my light sourse. The voices sound miles away and I am safe for now. The light is greatly dimmed than whence I first found it though it continues to hold its purpose and the friendly animals seem drawn to it bringing me food and showing me safely to the stream nearby for water. My head and eyes are heavy as I wrap myself in a weathered blanket.

I feel the dream overtake me…

_"Read what he spoke of you, Alestair!! I know you better. You are better!!" The strong armor clad elven man stands throwing the scroll into my lap where I rest. He has trouble moving about and the toss has caused a grunt. He is obviously wounded.

The parchment opens with the sound of weathered crackling…

    Good Sir,

Twas many years ago our alliance began in which you would send me the inexperienced young lads of your land and in turn they would return from my training ready for yours. I send my report to you now. Tis to my own surprise that his training is not complete and I have dispatched scouts and guards to find him. My report follows.

    Subject Age - 16

Weeks 1-4 Quiet though seems watching in everything that is done. Easy to approach though seeminly gentle in nature. General drill and stance lacking, though there is something in his eyes. Perhaps I can pursuade it out of him. He holds a sword well though seems more comfortable with a bow. The only general interest he seemingly has is the horses. I have heard of him conversing whilst in the barn though when checked upon there be no one there and all words stop. Curious indeed. He has refused to take seriously his training in proper ettiquet and only answers direct questions. How impertinent. I do not believe the other boys shall take pity on him.

Weeks 5-8 Some life in him at last!! Though alarmingly directed towards the other boys. I had allowed the others open reign with him. Perhaps show him the errors of his ways and whence I return with the weeks rations I find 4 of them upon their individual backsides looking up at this one boy. When asked of it he stated quite plainly,"Actions not words" and turned to the wood and walked away. No one is speaking of the incident even with threat of being returned home. His attitude continues , though I have hope for him yet as he has been seen speaking with one of the guards and has been found to smile on occasion. His mannerism shows slight improvement, though I am leary still. -note- I need find and speak with the guard that befriended him.

Week 9 The report seems senseless now as he is gone, as are 3 of our best mounts. The stable master states he heard muffled arguing and the sound of swords though whence he arrived they were gone. The only clue left - a longsword, bright red blood upon the blade. All are accounted for except two guards, and two students including Alestair. I am sending scouts and guards in pursuit. We must know what happened. I did not expect him to break in such a manner.

The mans elven accent sounding heavy,"Do you see and understand now? The lies, the deception??"

*the thought of such, I am dreaming!!wake up!! *

startled I sit up I am in a modest home and I am in bed* What type of magic is this??!!! The small thatched branch door opens and a woman approaches with a gentle touch and soft voice to match her smile as she whispers "you are not there yet my son... wake up"_

No shakeing head truly awake now I have thrown the blanket over the light source, causing a blackened darkness that seems colder than it is. I reach for it and set the light sourse somewhere safe. I call out against the walls in frustration.

Where mother!!??? Where am I to go ???

I fall to my knees in the middle of the room I hear a distant whisper once again and use all I know to hear it, only to find it seems to be coming from within me. "The light will guide you"

I reach for quill and parchment and the words fall upon the page with ugency causing some of the ink to smudge. "My journey still continues" is the first of many words afore sleep overtakes me again, my head luckily falling to the bundled blanket.
