It would appear that the wizard Ezachiel has returned after a lengthy absense, brought about by him being shot by Peltarch guards.
Even though he has been gone for only a year, he appears to have aged nearly two decades (maybe because he didn't really seem to age at all before), and while he was capable of short periods of laughter before, he now has a solemn expression on his face at nearly all times, keeping to himself for the most part.
