Malagent Vaegrif Mortres

Vaegrif was bore to Valen and Erica Mortres. His father Valen was a shoemaker, a profession taken on as a family craft. Though, he was never successful or rich, and he was simply terrible at his craft, he was a kind man with a warm heart. Erica, Vaegrif's mother, was also a kind person and cared for her son very much. Vaegrif has two siblings: his brother Vareef Mortres, and his sister Monica Mortres.
His family lived a content though lowly life in the slums of Baldurs Gate. All was well until 1351, Year of the Crown. A year that brought a plague to the city. All of his family members contracted the fatal disease so he was forced to watch the ones he loved die in agony. He was the last one to contract the ailment and wandered the streets, cold and alone, waiting for the day he met his death. But by fate, he was discovered by a group of men who offered salvation from the horrible plague. These men were followers of Talona, the mother of all plagues. For a mere price, (His families meager life savings) they used their divine powers to cure him of the affliction, and for that he was thankful beyond words.
Being a survivor of the plague, and now an orphan he had nowhere to go, no place to call his home. He spent the rest of his childhood struggling on the streets to survive. In his teen years, he sought out the church of Talona and strived to become a part of it. He worked through the priesthood and served the will of Talona wherever it was fit. When he reached an age of about 18 years, he was formally inducted into the church as a priest.
His induction ceremony included him being stabbed by a blade with a potentially fatal poison. He had to identify the poison and collect the proper reagents for his antidote. On his success, the ceremony was completed with a brutal mutilation from his clergymen. He still holds many scars from it. He formally earned his title as a Malagent after this.
The years following this, he served Talona well, but many of his fellow clergymen were slain and he was exiled from the city. He traveled far and wide preaching of his faith to those who listened, and enacting the mother of plagues will on those who were intolerant. Finally, he made his way to Narfell, where his real story starts.
