Recruit Trainining with Colonel Mord Cabro
-
Without turning toward the source of the noise, Corana calls out a series of incanted prayers and steps into the muddy ring…
-
A pit has worked its way into the sparring area and is a gelatenous slick of mud at this point, from the constant rain and numbers of new trainees. Mord eyes Corona and smiles thinly as she leans agains the wall. He once again hands her the twisted branch and grunts as he turns back to the others. A moment and we will have yer dummy set to test yer mettle.
Mord eyes the trainees and barks out instructions as they spar in dual combat and in small groups. Heaving back and forth through the mud and blood. The sun breaks apart the clouds and beats down on the straining trainess raising a mist in the air. Mord's shouts can be heard over the clashing of staves and the panting grunts of the trainees. An hour passes, the sun baking down, and Mord calls a halt after three trainees collapse to the sodden ground.
Heavy thumping is heard from the direction of the great hall and Mord nods then barks Out of the pit lads, lets see if the "lass" has what it takes to join the Militia!! He turns expectantly to Corona as the heavy steps approach Ready ta show us what ye have in ye ? He gestures to the muddy pit

Rumor has it that Dwin is already running a bit of a gambling venture related to this sparring match. No one is quite sure that the odds are, but Dwin, as usual, stands to make some coin off the books.
-
Calendel, busy working within Friar Freds is paid a visit by the Chancellor.
A farmer seeking some care overhears the Chancellor say "could get ugly, will need you at the sparring" and then proceeds to make his way back to the Town Hall. Calendel is see stocking his pack with some extra balms from the shelf shortly thereafter.
-
A day after destroying the combat dummy, Corana returns through the north gate, carrying a frother's head by the hair in one hand, and her greataxe in the other. She deposits the head in the trash in front of the Boarshead, and then strolls into the training grounds. She stands there against the wall, apparently waiting for instructions.
-
The chancellor wanders by with a book in hand, reading as he goes. He stops briefly to eye the mess, then looks to mord thoughtfully a moment. He says almost absently as he passes mord, turning his attention back to his book:
I'll lend a hand with sparring on the morrow. Give Corana the staff again. If she bothers to show, I'll send a proper sparring partner.
The chancellor pads away back to the hall, eyes fixed on the pages of his book.

Dwin watches the new "recruit" and smirks. He comments to Plato….
Well, Mord's got his hands full with this one…
That bein said, I dont care if she's gettin' anvil rides from Lucid or not.. She aint gettin' any special treatment... not when we got so much goin' on...
Keep an eye on this for me, Plato.

_When she arrived at the training grounds, Corana looked over the assembled trainees, and after invoking the power of Umberlee, proceeded to shatter a combat dummy into a pile of splinters and stuffing with a few powerful blows. With that, she handed the staff back to Mord and headed off toward the south of town.
A few hours later, Corana returned, looking as well as when she left, with the shell of an Umberhulk. She proceeded to the training site with it and dumped it beside the splintered dummy before wandering off again._
-
As Mord offers her the staff, Corana looks him over, her cold, expressionless gaze eventually turning into a crooked grin. "I have yet to give the Chancellor my answer, lad" she is heard to reply. Regardless, she takes the staff in her heavily armored hand, indicating that she will "offer a demonstration of Umberlee's wrath" for the trainees while she takes the time to contemplate her decision.

Mord can be seen approaching hte lass Corona, in his hands a twisted hefty branch. He amiles thinly and hands it to her Yer trainin staff. It seems the Chancellor has some interest in seein ye survive the comin storms. Now let us see if ye will bend er break in the wind. He leads her off to the trainin grounds where a sweating Besk and Varian can be seen wieldign weighted weapons around a heavily paded dummy
-
Mord stretches his aching back as he watches Besk and Varians loaded packs head back towards the crossroads. He shakes his head as he sees the lass Nimh hurrying along beside them. He looks south and frons at teh construction going on and mutters Mayhap the lads will be in good enough shape to survive whats a comin…. He shakes his head and goes to the armory to inspect the work the trainees had done on the weapons
((Come on Besk and Varian, feel free to post your views of trainning here. I would love some help with this  ))

One evening as Belin comes by at the end of a long day, Mord yells at her to grab a staff and come to the south gate and jogs off with Besk and Varian. He notices Niamh near the gates as he and the trainees arrive. Over any objections she might have he hauls her out the gates and hands her a long pole the length of a spear. He pulls her aside and talks quietly with her and she nods nervously. He smacks her in the shoulder and nods Ye will do fine lass. All are carrying staves of one lenght or another and he and Niamh square off against teh other two. As Belin arrives they can be seen moving towards each other. Suddenly Niamh steps nimbly back and and thrusts her longer staff at Varian, as he goes to knock it down she continues her thrust forward and down and Mords staff intercepts hers angling it between Varian's legs as Mord whips his staff sideways and up. *
Belin lets out a hoot and approaches as Varian and Besk bounce off one another and leap back barely keeping their footing.* See there lass, nothin ta be afraid of with these oversized pups He says to an astonished Niamh Mord nods and gestures Belin foward to join him and they square off against the weary trainees.* All right lads, lets see what ye got in ya… He and Belin raise their staves.....

Belin grunts and offers them ale when they are done for the day

Training continues with Besk and Varian. Most days it begins with drills with melee wepons followed by distance weapons. Long hours are still spent in running to the Crossroads with loads of wood and stone followed by rapid drills in concerted attacks and retreats.
