Calendel Engevais
-
(thanks go to Lucid for the format! - what can I say, I'm a template theif!)
Aliases: Cal, Cale
Titles: Norwick Town Healer and Advisor to the Chancellor, Troff Legion Corporal
Home: Currently resides in Norwick.
Presence: While he stands proud and is quick to come to someone's aid, Calendel tends to get a little awkward around women and does his best to treat them just like "one of the guys" even if very interested in them…
Height: 5 foot, 2 inches
Weight: Average for an elf
Age: 120
Skin Tone: Pale but with some color
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Long flowing blonde hair usually tied back with a braid
Voice: His voice tends to be strong and brash without sounding intimidating.
Recognizable Features: An amulet around his neck identifying him as the proprietor of Friar Freds. Usually wearing Legion armour or colors (blue & black) when not within the gates of Norwick (whereas he wears a plain brown robe indictive of Chauntean Clerics).
Commonly spoken languages: Elvish and common although, not being overly intelligent Calendel speaks almost always in common as he's still trying to improve his ability at speaking it. Calendel will respond in Elvish though when spoken to in Elvish.
Equipment Worn: He usually wears a suit of full plate black, blue and metallic grey armour. A pack on his back that appears to be made up of several packs stiched together, hooks and loops holds an array of potions, and a shield, and longbow strapped uniquely to his pack for easy access. On his hip Calendel has a finely crafted longsword strapped to him.
Equipment Carried: Calendel is often seen using a longsword of the finest type available in a Peltarch shop.
When wielding his longsword he also uses the extra protection of a towershield that he had made for him by the Master Crafter Z.
When not required to wield a sword and shield in battle Calendel prefers to fire arrows at range with a finely crafted Elm longbow made by the Master Crafter Ginger.
When Calendel is in full battle dress, he wears a beautiful helm of Elven construction upon his head. Blue and black indicating the Troff Legion colors, this helm was loaned to him by General Lyte herself.
Calendel also carries a pack (or group of packs stiched together) full of equipment slung over his shoulders nearly everywhere he goes. Healing potions, balms, kits and bandages make up the bulk of the contents. A small quiver of arrows is also built into this makeshift pack.
Around his waist Calendel wears a belt that many recognize as a typical belt worn by Clerics and available at a shop in Peltarch. These belts tend to provide Clerics with improved confidence in battle providing them with stability and focus.
Left Handed or Right Handed: Left handed
Jewelry or Decorations: Calendel wears a ring on his left-hand that gives off a subtle glowing light and a beautiful amulet around his neck that many old timers recognize as one once worn by Friar Fred himself. Rumour has it that this amulet was enchanted long ago.
Relatives: Calendel rarely talks of family but some people have been rumoured to mention that Calendel may have arrived in Norwick looking for a long lost family member. Calendel has also stated that he was raised by Human farmers that took him in when he was just a small child. Apparently his Elven parents were killed in defence of the farm lands and the Humans raised him to honour his parents. Being raised on a Human farm was where he was exposed to his chosen diety Chauntea.
Body Build: After years of constant fighting in Narfell, his body is now much stronger than it was. He is now lean and strong enough to wield a sword or longbow respectably. (str was 13, is now 14)
Official Positions: Advisor to the Chancellor of Norwick, Healer of Norwick, Troff Legion Corporal
Combat style: Calendel tends to avoid direct combat when able preferring to let other much stronger fighters take the blows. As a Cleric, Calendel understands that he is far more useful alive. He prefers to stay in the back and support fighters with blessings and his bow. But will move in close with shield and sword when required.
ATTRIBUTES (After equipment adjustments)
STR 14 (15): Calendel's lean frame is fit and strong. He keeps his body in shape and likes to run on occassion. His ability to wield a longsword and tower shield and still swing it with power is recognized by many.
DEX 10: Calendel has never been one to be overly graceful or quick. Calendel relies on heavy armour and blessing to afford him protection when in danger. Occassionally one can even witness Calendel tripping over an errant rock or getting smacked by a fellow fighter during combat or falling off balance and ending up in the line of a swing!
CON 12: Calendel's lean and wirey frame cause many to believe that he is weak and easily breakable especially since they see him get injured so greatly when hit. In reality Calendel is able to take more hits than it seems but is still nowhere near a Barbarian!
WIS 18: Calendel has seen much and learned much. His spiritual understanding was learned through life experience and not books. He has partaken in a few wars in both the front lines and as a rear archer where he has watched and incorporated several different battle tactics. While Calendel may not understand how a fireball is cast, he knows better than to stand in front of the Mage casting it! Calendel is also a student of Zen Archery and his wisdom in the teachings of this art provide him with formidable ability with a bow.
INT 10: Calendel's intelligence is low. He speaks Elven well and can also speak Common although it's clear that his common is made up of words he hears from others sometimes even using common words such as "dere" for "there" after listening to an Orc talk. Calendel also knows basic reading/writing and math but does not study nor read unless he absolutely has too. Calendel is a dreamer, a wanderer, and a very spiritual person. He is most definately not a scholar.
CHA 14(15): Calendel is a fairly handsome elf, despite his thin and lean frame. This score would be higher if Calendel wasn't so awkward around females.
