Arikess's arrest
-
Dwin looks around at everyone, then at Milshot and nods.
Yer right lad. Lets go sit down an discuss this… we all want the same things. Sometimes it just takes someone like yerself to point that out.
-
Standing off to the side of the discussion as he stacked some boxes against the side of inn that seemed to have been in the way of the good folk of Jiyyd, Milshot wanders over to Grag and Dwin and slautes sharply.
Oi fellas. Nay sure ifin me cin make sense o' all this mess but fark me if there be a righ' bunch o' confusion. Somethin' seemin' like a bunch o' do-gooders runnin' about wit' no dur-ection. Nothin' worse then a group o' folks charged wit upholdin' th' law an' nay a one fer them ta raport to when em need 'elp an' all.
He nods to Juste'ene as he continues
It be no disraspect ta ya or the folks servin' but it seems like this be a common sort o' issue 'ere. Fightin' tween th' militia an' th' council… nay e'er a good thing fer either group or fer th' fine folks callin' Jiyyd 'ome, aye? Th' Legion be 'ere... th' militia be 'ere... th' council be 'ere... th' union be 'ere... soundin' alot like there be more farkin groups rulin' the rules than them gots up in Peltarch 'erself. Too many folks wit' too many agendas aye?
He looks to them all and motions towards the Legion Hall and continues in hushed tones so that only those close by can hear
How bout ya leader type move all this inside aye? Nay e'er a good idea fer lettin' the good folk ya serve ta pertect see ya unable ta squabblin' like school kids aye?
-
what the FARK do you think I been tryin to do here, Grag? Nobody farkin listens… everyone follows blind laws...
I have made my points. There's nothing else for "me" to work out here. Folks are being unjustly held.
Why dont YOU do something?
-
Coming in the gates and hearing the last bits of the conversation grag just shakes his head and sighs "perfects… why dont we all just stat offin each utha why the fark we need enemies.. we seem to all like ot hate each utha enough as is... stops Dwin afor he leaves I advise we wurk this out wit everyun includin meself afor both our towns are gone and we all holdin our handsup tot eh sky wunderin the fakr hapaned.... what say ye?"
-
Dwin just smiles at Lens
Where ya been hidin yerself Lens?
Jiyyd's been threatened all this time and ya come out a hidin fer a little incident like this?
A voice fer the people, you say? Ya mean like the folks that been wrongly arrested? The ones that cant speak fer emselves because they are in jail fer helpin YOUR town? Aye. I am their voice. Loudmouth? If that's what I have to be to get YOU to come out from wherever the fark you are, then fine. I am a loudmouth.
A voice for the people? Where the fark YOU been lately Lens? Where's your voice?
You embarrass me. You embarrass yourself. Worst, of all, you have embarrassed Jiyyd.
Dwin walks away, heading through the gates and westward.
-
Just'ene walks up:
"First off Dwin, I do not report to you. I report to the council, meaning everybody on the council, any problems that are in the interest of the town. Major problems, not petty fights between people. You do not now, nor ever, have you had the authority to over rule the militia. If you try it again, you will be jailed for obstruction of justice."
Lens arrives and adds in the follow:
"Yer bein' on the council don' be meanin' you hold supreme rule over the town and its people; it means you represent a group that resides here, an' that your job is to be bein' the voice for your people, not the loud mouth of the village.
If yer wantin' to continue to be hold'in yer position, I suggest you be showin a lot more respect to the militia and the job they do, or ye will be discharged. In this time of so many evils workin' around us.. we don't need personal strife within the town. So ye can straighten up, or ye can leave."

@b835461a29=Araighn:
"My apologies Dwin. I honestly thought the Council would be asking for help from the Union, seems I am mistaken. Reguardless I'm not going to argue with you about council affairs seeing as that's not my place.
In case ya havent been payin attention… there really ain't no Council. Ain't had a proper meeting in years. Think about that fer a bit and perhaps you can understand where some o this confusion is comin from.
@b835461a29=Araighn:
_I don't quite understand how Aelthas's name still being on the roster is dangerous. We all know he resigned years ago and he no longer has his badge or cloak. Of course it will need to be taken off the list.
Anyhow, I rest my case."_
ya dont see how thts dangerous? really?
You restin' yer case? I dont think so. I aint dismissed this matter yet.
So, I am on the council, aye? Just'ene, leader o the militia reports to me and the rest of the Council, so the list reads ((http://www.therealnarfell.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=33974 for those with access)). It also lists everyone else in the Militia, yer name included. Now yer tellin me that some of the folks on that list arent in the organization any more… ya dont think that can cause problems?
Dwin is getting more and more angry as he speaks, he pulls out a copy of the watchmen list and shows it all
@b835461a29=from:
PC Watchmen
- Theaon Thorn
- Damian Colten
- Draihken Harbinger
- Aelthas Benthur
When I see two lads fightin in the commons and they are both listed as Guardsmen, and then two folks get involved to try and stop the fight… you think that aint a bit farkin CONFUSING? Do ya not see why I was askin that they not be arrested? Looked to me like the Guardsmen were havin a quarrel, and some good samaritans were doin their part to break it up! Moradin forbid anyone think for themselves, eh?
The fact that one of those folks, the lass Arikess that was tryin to help, is still arrested, held for 2 ten-day AND was fined 400 coins is an OUTRAGE!
looks to Zyphlin for support for the first time in his life
As a Councilmember, perhaps I cannot drop charges, but I will DEMAND a hearing on this matter IMMEDIATELY! That lass is bein held fer charges that make no sense whatsoever!
-
::Zyphlin looks on in amazement, shaking his head::
I don't believe I'm going to say this, but I have to agree with Dwin to at least a small extent. Though the irony of Dwin arguing and complaining about how a guard in a town acts is rather delectable.
All that being said, I'll just to remember it for the future. I don't see any laws on the records in Jiyyd stating "All drow are banned" so if one pops up in town I'll be sure to look at it and do nothing till it decides to do something to harm someone. Or if some human or elven mage shows up and begins casting magics on someone in town I'll be sure to stand by and let the wizard possibly kill the person until Just'ene or one of hte guards can stop him…IF they can stop him. Can't have "vigilantism" now can you. Lets just hope that Just'ene and them can handle every single encounter possible.
I applaud you all on marching blindly down the letter of the law, may you never actually have to think about the goodness of your acts while you use it as a sheild.

goes back to the Legion Hall to help manage supplies for Jiyyd_
-
"enough said?"
Mind yer tongue lad… It'll get the best o you. Not sure what you are alluding to... no one has made any requests of the Union, and we have always helped in the past. What're you tryin to say?
If Ael aint on yer rosters anymore, then ya best update yer Militia listing in the Council area ((forums)) Its still got him listed. Dangerous having folks on a list if they aint supposed to be on it...
-
_"Firstly, Aelthas resigned from the Militia a few years ago. And Second, they all spent the same amount of time, except for Arikess who decided to leave town when he was supposed to cooperate with the Watchman on the scene because you "dropped the charges." His jailtime is doubled for that.
Dwin, no one is mad at you for bringing ideas to the table reguarding the orcs. If you're truely willing to help, well, you're in charge of the Union around here, enough said."_
-
dwin shrugs
Just tryin to help. I hate to see a mine cavin' in in front o me and not be able to warn folks that are deep inside. Of course, if they dont want to listen… not much I can do...even as a Council member.
That aint your problem. Its the Councils problem. The fact that the Council is about as useless as a bunch o wigglers in a smitty... theres the problem. No leadership.
A strong leader, though... a strong leader listens to criticsm from all angles and doesn't hide behind silliness. A strong leader makes quick decisions and moves ahead... correcting along the way. A strong leader doesnt wait months to build archer towers when the orcs are fornicatin and spendin their time doublin their army. We got the fella for this job right here in front of us, but no one seems to be listenin.
Not sure what you are referring to with the droppin-charges bit. Perhaps you are talkin about that embarrassin' event here recently when one o yer men arrested the 2 folks that helped him apprehend a criminal... I believe the criminal was also a member of yer militia too? Seems odd that they spent more time in the klink than the fellow they helped him apprehend.
shrugs again
Maybe I missed the part about Militia gettin special treatment.

Not you Dwin.
Let me remind you that you do not control the militia in jiyyd. We answer to Just'ene only. Think on that next time you try to overrule a judgement we make.
Please do not interfere in our affairs.
Dwin responds in a friendly, superior fashion.
Well, perhaps Juste'ene…who, by the way reports to myself and the others of the Jiyyd Council, should start reviewing the basics with her folks.
This is exactly my point that I have been trying to make in the Council. We got lots o captains and no commanders here. No one knows who's in charge, and no decisions are bein made. When they are, they are poorly thought out, at best. Lockin up people that are tryin to help? That's a sure way to offend yer population...
I think Milshot of Jiyyd would be a great person to turn to at this time... he's got the experience... lets put him in a position where he can make a difference--just like he did in Norwick.
I seem to recall you have been warned by Juste'ene about this before. Do you need her to repeat what she said?
You've been warned dwin. Next time you interfere with militia work, you can enjoy the comfort of the cells too.
-
_Theaon replies to Dwin in a calm manner
"Ever hear of vigilanties Dwin? This is why we have a Militia so people don't take the law into their own hands. And just because Just'ene reports to the Council doesn't mean councillors can go dropping charges on their own will. In fact, I remember Just'ene telling you this quite firmly once.
We do things differently here than in Norwick Dwin. You may run your Militia as you see fit, however you do not have control over ours. Now if the reality of that is too bitter and cold for you I'm sorry, but you'll have to deal with it. Can't get everything your way all the time, that's life."_

A few of the watchmen have been seen conversing with Lily while she sits at one of the table within the Regal Whore Inn. Those paying enough attention catch a few words here and there "Lavender eyes" and "Dwin wants ta speak with yuh"… tend to repeat within their conversation. Oddly enough Lily looks a little puzzled with the inquiries.
"Dwin? I don' even know who tha' is?"
The next morning she sets out to find out whom this fellow is and why he'd want to speak with her
-
A few days ago onlookers in Jiyyd saw Watchman Theaon of the Militia speak with Arikess about his crime. Arikess tried to argue that Dwin simply dropped the charges, but Theaon said he did not have that authority. Dalron and Basha soon came to back up Theaon. Arikess decided to willingly come to jail and he was last seen being escorted by the three watchmen.
