Word comes from the south on the bounty about Rando

  • @4765fa46f0:

Senator Roland Brynmor places a bounty of 5000 gold pieces on Rando of Norwick.

Rando must be presented ALIVE with his belongings to the Senator in Peltarch in order to claim the reward.

*Word has it that Rando has offered 10,000 Gold on the issuer of the bounty to be brought to Rando in Norwick. He must be ALIVE, but bound and unarmed to claim it…

  • (since people have been ooc asking)

    Bounty still in effect

  • @4e18251808=Rando:

Word from the south is that Rando has a new equerry called Bigus Orcus and all correspondence over duels or other matters are to be placed with him who will inform Rando if its important

Of course, to get to either of them you need to be able to get past the guards in the barracks. Please see a Militia representative.

  • _* A familiar dwarf packs up a cart near the West gate, packing all his belongings, and that of his cousin Dwin as well. The cart is laden down with various boxes, tower shields, sets of armor, staffs, and various weapons.

He chuckles to himself as he hears the words of the Legion Wizard.

While securing his cart with some tarps of deerskin and ropes he speaks to his cousin Nor, to whom he is leaving his share of the shop. *_

<d>Yeh see dis shite? Dey argue semantics… Sure he is nae a town official, now. But wut about at deh time of deh threat? Dey had nae regard fer it den.

    * He pauses a moment looking at them then turns back to his cousin and wags his finger at him with a narrowed brow *

<d>You steer clear of dem Legion colors. Dey distort deh truth teh suit der needs of perverted justice. Because of yeh clan dey will acuse, mistrust, anna bend deh facts teh ensure yeh is viewed as a criminal, all the while protectin der actions dat make em nae better den bandits.

    * He leans in close to Nor and pulls him close with a clenched fist of his chainmail shirt. *

<d>Anna me expect yeh teh treat me friends proper. Rando is welcome in me shop, in me chair. Yeh form yeh own opinions anna nae listen to dese self righteous farks dat always seem teh appear like rats frumma sewer teh explains why it alright teh kill, maim anna persecute certain folk.

    * Leans back and mutters *

<d>Anna if yeh e'er take an order frumma half orc….. me kill yah meself.

    * He turns, smiles and waves at Genzir as he grabs the lead on the mule hitched to the cart while muttering in dwarven "Slip anna break yeh neck aye?". With that he tugs firmly on the lead, and the mule and cart head out the West gate, heading towards Ironspur *</d></d></d></d>

  • *Rando hears the jumped up senator, Roland go on about a duel and send word via his visitors in his cell

… i never back down.. i will do it any time.. if you can get that pole out of your ass and come and face me....i am here...or does he just talk a good fight....

(duel was set but we could not all get in game together at the time, so it kinda slipped by.. DP is no longer a dm as he was running it)

  • with a slight smirk, Dwin (one his way to his Peltarch shop) adds

Protecting him? He's in jail. If that's what you mean by protection, we should ask the poor sods in the Peltarch prison how safe they feel.

    chuckles

Sometimes ya win, sometimes ya lose. Looks like this time yer villain escaped only to be jailed someplace else. Tis life….

  • Roland offers the following response, so the people are not confused:

I granted Rando's request for a duel. Then he decided to disappear and hide behind his Norwick titles rather than face the challenge. As far as I'm concerned, he had his chance - in hindsight, I should never have extended such an honour to him in the first place. By his actions, he has shown himself to have no honour.

Rando is a brutal, cruel man who broke Peltarch law and went back on his word. His actions are the only injustice here. And while I am not vindictive, you can be sure that he will pay for what he has done.

Those are the facts, and the rest is just politics.

As for Norwick, I find it hard to believe they would protect Rando after he murdered their Chancellor in his own hall. I would rather think they share Peltarch's opinion of Rando as a violent criminal.

I will add that anyone who thinks Peltarch started this, should note well that the bounty was placed on Rando only after he broke our laws and escaped justice. I regret that he was able to make it to Norwick and cause yet more harm there, but there is little we can do about it now.

Roland then makes his way to the temple, reflecting aloud that Peltarch seems cursed with an unusual number of sophists this week.

  • On a trip through Peltarch, Genzir may be heard to remark that Rando is no longer an official of Norwick, in fact he is in jail for murdering the chancellor. So Senator Roland did not put out a bounty on the official of another town. If anything, Rando is now an enemy of both towns.

People ought to find out all the facts before jumping to conclusions, especially about senators.

  • ( Keep this IC please.)

  • ((old acting trick, and if you think that was antagonizing…..))

Said man exits stage right and is seen taking a slow horse south not too seemingly worried about much of anything.

  • ((OOC golf clap. Bravo!))

  • Gosh watches the man leave then turns to a guard The fellows voice doth carry well, why one wouldst almost think he was some poorly disguised protagonist seeking to sew discord. Must be poor hearing hence he speaks so loud whence speaking unto himself.

  • Accusations dear senator? I was merely talking to myself (read the first post and notice he was talking outloud to himself) and you interrupted me. Sad thing when a man can't talk to himself without being accused by a senator of doing some wrongAnd which law? Well, as I hear it, outside bounties, laws, and group have no enforcement in Norwick land. So essentially, your dear senator placed a bounty on a Norwick Official encouraging people to break the law.

Wait, that sounds a lot like…the same law that Peltarch is trying to apply now. Odd that? And didn't Peltarch threaten life first?

So this senator breaks a law in a different town, then expects to enforce their Peltarch laws on them while ignoring the law they broke?

Look at this way senator perhaps it will be easier to understand. Two men walk down an alley from different directions. The first man tells the second to get out of the way or he will pummel him. The second says no I will pummel you twice as hard. The first man then draws a sword and says he will kill him which the second man does as well in response. The first man then runs and gets the guard and says the other man threatened my life.

Now senator. Is it right the second man be condemned because the first has friends in the guard?

Now, if you want to just argue Peltarch law I am all for it. First concept of law is to respect law and have equal applications wouldn't you say?

In the Magistrate's statement he said

"The city does not condone nor encourage private vendettas, outlander bloodletting or bounty hunters. "

Which if I am not mistaken is what the good senator did himself, thusly going against the principles of the City. Yet then you try to enforce the same principles they broke.

    ::looks about::

Hopefully you are a man of law. Order brings peace and prosperity. A single individual shouldn't be brandishing bounties about without the approval of the senate. Then to ignore the laws and procedures they broke while enforcing the same on the other?

Sad times senator. If you will excuse me, I find the City, to cold for my taste right now.

    ((turns to leave))

  • Which law was failed to be observed?

That is which law in Peltarch, for that is where the crime occurred. As stated by the miltia of Norwick they do not recognise any communication in regards to judicial matters.

So if there is no such recognised channel and agreements with regards extradition of criminals tis impossible to speak through said channels…

But if thou wish to level a breach of law thou shouldst speak with the magistrate rather than throw accusations in the street.

  • And dear senator, did the senator making the original bounty top to consider they broke a Norwick law by placing a bounty on a Norwick official? Did yet again the City even bother to contact the Norwick authorities about their concerns?

Like I said, sounds like a personal grievance to me as I can't imagine trying to enforce a law condemning a man which the accusers broke themselves.

If the senator in question would of followed the law, he would of gone thru channels. They didn't. Makes you wonder why one man can break a law and be condemned and another not even have a word said to?

::smiles and pulls his cloak tighter::

Oddly cold and bitter this time of year don't you think?

  • Rando hears the rumors from bard town and replies

what did i break..they are making it up… been after me for years"

  • Dwin comments

Bounties or threats from other cities or organizations hold no water here in Norwick.

Should the accused be arrested in Peltarch, you can do what you wish to him. While he is in Norwick, the bounty is meaningless. We have no such extradition agreements with Bard Town.

I would be more than willing to host a duel between the Senator and the accused, under Norwick Militia control of course.

Anyone seeking to fulfill this bounty within Norwick territory (anywhere south of Sam the Badger's Hill) will be prosecuted according to Norwick law.

  • Mariston in passing looks to the man

Rando is banned from this city, he didst threaten violence upon a senator.
He was granted an amnesty by another senator to attend the recent festival upon certain requirements. He was accused that he didst break his word and the provisions set to regularise his visit. Whence such didst occurr he was to be arrested to ascertain his guilt in the matter at hand. He then didst post bounty with no regard for laws breached.

At this point he is declared a criminal, and as such treated as one.

Now if we wert to be barbaric we wouldst follow Rando's lead and hit anything that disagrees with us, since however we believe in the rule of law, we followed the law of the city….I do hope this clears up any misunderstandings or misdirection afoot. Any questions?

  • Dentin wholeheartedly agrees.
