Syclya Latonein (pronounced like Sigh-Klee-Ah) is a young moon-elf of only 125 years with green hazel eyes, slightly orange-ish blonde hair and a healthy cream colored complexion. Syclya has the usual sharp features of an elf, but they are rounded in all the right places to give her an attractive young face. She speaks fairly strange for an elf, often using typically human expressions which she has also incorporated into her native tongue. She had one sibling, a younger sister named Amithiel.

Having been raised from birth in the human city of Whitehorn, Syclya definately had an unusual upbringing from most other elves. A great majority of her friends were human, and pretty much everyone she had to interact with on a daily basis were of human stock. However the extended lifespan of an elf has taken its toll on her emotionally, as she had to watch her friends and even an unofficial husband grow old and die pretty much before her eyes. Syclya never had any children as she was still too young for such practices but nevertheless she and her husband had a strong and loving relationship.

Syclya's mother was a priestess of Ilmater (having grown up in Whitehorn herself) and a highly prized midwife in her community. She urged Syclya at a very young age to devote herself to one of the local temples so she could have an enriched life with some meaning. Succumbing to her mother's will, Syclya chose to devote herself to Torm, joining the clergy of a local temple and soon becoming a fledgling priestess herself. Her mentors noticed right away that she had remarkable skill with a blade, and that Torm had decided to bless this young one with many spells. Syclya wasted no time spreading His blessings upon all who needed aid, even injured former childhood bullies were looked after with the skill and motherly concern that would befit a patient kindly healer. When the time came for her 'graduation' so to speak she chose Torm's domains of healing and strength. She used these to guide her in her early years and to mold herself into the capable fighter and skilled healer she is today.

Syclya's father is a skilled craftsman, producing stunning suits of armor and remarkable bows. He encouraged his daughters to do more with their lives and has always supported most of his daughters' decisions. However he was none too happy about Syclya's human boyfriend and would not condone an official matrimony, thus forcing Syclya and her love to have a secret less-then-legal marriage.

Her sister Amithiel was born about 25 years after she was, right about the time Syclya was first entering into the Tormite clergy. Amithiel soon grew up and chose to work with her mother as a priestess to Ilmater. After graduating she left Whitehorn and soon found the region of Narfell. Not long after arriving she found a small town named Jiyyd. Here she found many friends and even love while joining up with the local Legion. After a living in Jiyyd for some time Amithiel learned of her mother's untimely death, and she raced home to her sister and father. Returning some time after she found her love had found someone new and most of her friends had left of dissapeared. Amithiel then decided to head off into the world again, heartbroken and lonely.

Back in Whitehorn, Amithiel's monthly letters stopped coming in, with no word or reason. Fearing the worst, and against her fathers' will (again) left for Narfell. Upon arriving Syclya headed straight for Jiyyd. When she arrived there she almost immediatley knew why Amithiel had liked this place. The people are friendly and well mannered, the Legion is strong and persistant in its protection of Jiyyd from the neighboring hobgoblin and orc tribes and the existance of those tribes keeps the residents of Jiyyd from becoming decadent and lazy. Upon asking Legion officials about her sister she was told that Amithiel had not been seen in some time and her wherabout were completely unknown. Taking up residence in town, Syclya scoured all of Narfell for her sister, to no avail. One day a courier from Whitehorn arrived breathless and redfaced and handed Syclya a scroll that told her Amithiel had been found near Whitehorn and Syclya was to come home immediately. Packing her meager posessions right awayand without telling anyone, she expeditiously made her way home, arriving at the temple of Ilmater as instructed a mere five days after leaving Jiyyd. Though Amithiel had been found, Syclya was forified to learn that her little sister was in the final stages of a terrible disease that even the best clerics of the temples of Ilmater and Torm could not purge from her body. Amithiel lived on for twelve agonizing days, and Syclya stayed with her, caring for her and telling her all about her friends back in Jiyyd, the adventures she has had and her dream to settle down there. This pleased Amithiel greatly and eased much of her pain, until one night Amithiel left this world while she was in Syclya's arms; a smile on her face.

After Amithiel's death Syclya stayed in Whitehorn for the duration of her sister's funeral and the many ceremoneis and celebrations of her former life that came with it. She spent much time as well grieving alongside her father, consoling him and comforting him. After all was taken care of in Whitehorn, Syclya once again hit the road and came back to her new home: Jiyyd.
