William Morrison

  • William Morrison

    Race: Human

Aliases: Will, [Willy, Slick Willy, Master Will, Sir William]

    Titles: None

Place of Origin: City of Valls, in Damara.

Home: Under the Tree in the Gypsy Camp with his wife Raver.

Presence: Whatever his past, it is hard to find a time now when Will is not cheerful and upbeat - particularly when Raver is about.

    Height: 5 feet 8 inches

    Weight: 175 pounds

    Age: 35

Skin Tone: Tanned, reflecting his tendency to spend nearly all of his time out of doors.

Eyes: Green, occasionally shifting to gray or blue depending on his mood. Only close friends will ever see them blue - when they are gray, something is about to die. Will is nearly night-blind, and as such, generally chooses not to patrol or adventure at night or in caves, unless the area is well-lit enough for him to see.

Hair: William's golden blond hair is kept short so he doesn't have to change the padding in his helm.

Voice: While his voice is as average as much of the rest of him, his manner of speech was unusually cultured and precise for a woodsman - though over the years, he has become more comfortable using colloquialisms. More recently, his speech has gotten a good deal rougher, though some elements of the cultured and precise speech remain.

    Recognizable Features: None.

Commonly spoken languages: Damaran and Common. Though it is not well known, Will also understands elvish (so long as the concepts are not too complex), though he rarely speaks it.

Equipment Worn: William virtually lives in his armor. The steel full plate armor he once wore, dyed in the colors of the Divine Shield is gone, replaced by steel full plate in the blue and black of the Legion. The armor itself is usually covered by a heavy green cloak, and a pair of armored boots complete his ensemble.

Equipment Carried: William travels light most of the time, though he is rarely without a healing kit, several hundred arrows, and a flower tucked away for the next person he thinks could use one. Much of his gear is masterwork quality or magical, and he is quick to attribute his successes to having quality equipment. William's weapons are the longbow gifted him by his wife, a longsword blessed by Mielikki named Mielikki's Chosen, and the Thunder Hammer. He is usually found wearing full plate armor except when concerned with stealth, and fights with a tower shield when in close combat.

Left Handed or Right Handed : Ambidextrous

Jewelry or Decorations: Rings on either hand and a necklace, all gifts given by friends, and with which he will not willingly part.

Relatives: William’s two older brothers live in Valls, along with their father. Will’s mother died birthing him. The only remaining relative of note - the grandmother who raised him in the absence of a father who did not wish to be reminded of his dead wife - died shortly after Will left Damara.

Body Build: William has the build of a runner, though his upper body has begun to fill out a little since coming to the Nars, due to constant work with sword and bow.

Official Positions: Captain, Troff Legion; Scout, The Wolves of Narfell; Protector of the Circle of Quercatha Terr; (former) Private, Peltarch Far Scouts

Combat style: Where once he favored the bow almost exclusively, he now favors close combat, using his bow only until the enemy closes. Thought by some to be reckless in close combat before, he has recently been much more careful, using potions or other protections as needed.

STR 15 (16): Years of going it alone in the woods have toughened William’s muscles. Carrying bodies found in the Nars back to temples, and occasional loads of gear from fallen foes have also helped.

DEX 17: William excels at anything he has put an effort into, where reflexes and coordination are an advantage. He is skilled at the courtly dances of the nobility, though he has had no opportunity and less interest in practicing such since he arrived in the Nars. Even in casual situations, there is a studied grace about his movements.

CON 12 (13): Given the amount of time William spends in the rain and snow, a slightly stronger than average constitution is an asset.

WIS 14: William is wise beyond his years, and often helps others resolve their problems. In the field, he often makes decisions on ‘feel,’ without being able to explain a rationale for why. Despite that, this wisdom somehow deserts him completely when dealing with his own personal affairs.

INT 10: In a family of prosperous merchants, ‘average’ intelligence was never good enough. He makes up for this by thinking all the time - worrying at problems for days or weeks until he can resolve them. Because of this, he is sometimes able to solve problems that far smarter people have trouble with.

CHA 10: William’s features look a bit ‘unfinished,’ which is a nice way of saying he’s a bit homely. He makes up for this by treating most situations with wit and good humor.
