Juvin

  • Somewhere in Chessenta was a small temple that acted as a home to fanatic Tiamat-worshipping monks who were doing all the things that normal fanatic Tiamat-worshipping monks do. Most of the temple's inhabitants were, strangely enough, halflings.

One rainy afternoon one of the monks gave birth to a baby-boy who was given the name Juvin. Ever since his birth the other monks taught Juvin all the stuff that normal fanatic Tiamat-worshipping monks would teach their young. At a very young age he began practising the art of combat so he could some day grow up to be a powerful fanatic monk who would kill dragonslayers and help his goddess with whatever plans she had.

On the eve of Juvin's 19th birhday everything was going well, the monks had just done a red dragon a big service by wiping out a roaming band of dragonslayers. Everyone was happy and they danced, sung and praised their goddess … but all of a sudden, a bunch of Tormite paladins broke in the door to the temple and they were very angry, after all, the fanatical monks were hideously evil. The little monks took their kamas and put up a good fight, but in the end the tormites prevailed, razed the temple down and killed most of the monks. A handful of them managed to escape, among those who escape was Juvin.

The small monks were furious. So furious that they would've done anything to get their hands on a few tormites so they could sacrifice them to their Dragon Queen. After they had tended their wounds the fanatical tiny monks began making their way to the nearest town so they could kidnap a few tormites. (Un)fortunately before they could do so they were spotted by a travelling Red Wizard. The little monks, being as angry as they were, told the wizard to go get bent or get a fist rammed down his throat. This did not sit well with the wizard and so he ordered his guards to kill the tiny little monks. To the wizards surprise the monks managed to slay most of his guards before they were brought down. The wizard decided that he should take haflings that hadn't died as slaves .. or just use them as exotic pit fighters to entertain his friends.

Again, among the survivors, was Juvin. He was put into a ship that sailed across the Alamber sea and then put into a slave-caravan that was headed straight for Eltabbar. Becoming a slave would've hampered Juvin's plans of becoming a powerful servant of Tiamat, thus he decided to flee under the cover of the night. Using his superior sneaking abilities and dexterity he managed to get away unnoticed.

Escaping from a Thayan slaver isn't something you can do without expecting to be hunted down mercilessly. Juvin was scared out of his mind, and for a good reason. He began running to the north, and he ran for several tendays, or it could've been more but he wasn't counting the days. That's how scared he was. As he headed futher up north the climate became much colder .. and the halfling decided to stop, since if he went any further north everything would just be ice, he thought. He had run all the way to Narfell - now that's an impressive feat, even for a fanatic monk.

He had nothing with him, except his burning hatred towards Thayans and Tormites. All he needed was to find treasures, become powerful. Since it was so cold out here he'd probably find a nice white dragon to serve aswell.
