Eighteen years ago, in the lands of the Thunderbeast Tribe, Gwenhyar, wife of Gerfannon, gave birth to a son, her firstborn, who was named Cadfannan. Gerfannon the Bold, son of Gwengad the Bearwrestler, son of Cynhafal Quick-Spear, son of Cuneglas the Windrunner, son of Hyfaidd Good-Judge, son of Dafydd Oathbound, was satisfied to see his blood, the blood of Uthgardt warriors, thus continuing and he sacrificied a bull to the Great Thunderbeast totem. Thus begins the tale of Cadfannan ap Gerfannon ap Gwengad ap Cynhafal ap Cuneglas ap Hyfaidd ap Dafydd Oathbound.

As the young uthgardt grew, he proved to be a match to his bloodline when it came to feats of strength, wrestling and the like. He was a nice looking child which later grew up to be a handsome warrior and he took all the teachings of honor, tradition and courtesy in to his heart. Still, he had some faults visible to his father, for Cadfannan wasn't the sharpest blade in the shieldwall, so to say. So he was sent to his namesake, cousin of his mother, Cadfannan Swordtongue, a Warrior Poet of Uthgar, man of fame and prestige among many tribes.

So, young Cadfannan, at the age of twelve or so, was educated by the Warrior Poet, man in his late twenties. Though it's true that not even a Warrior Poet of Uthgar can make blackened silver shine again, his teachings helped the young warrior-to-be to understand his limitations and left him with much more prestigious gift, at least among the Uthgardt, the gift of a honeyed tongue. While little slow, Cadfannan took the words of the Poets as his own and thus began to speak like one of the heroes from the days gone by. Not a match for his master, but certainly a match to the most older warriors. The Warrior Poet told him that once his axe would be covered with blood of the Battle Father's enemies, young warrior would have no problems when boasting with his companions.

As Cadfannan came to age, he slew his first enemy, fell his first bear, ventured to the Glazier and back, traded with other tribes and lived like a true man of the Thunderbeast tribe should. Sadly, he had inherited the restless spirit of his mother's cousin and soon decided to follow the Warrior Poet's example and wander the world, bringing Glory to his ancestors and fame to his name. And so the superstitious, bold and little thick warrior left his home with his good looks and flow of the words, trusted hunting spear and spirit of the Free Uthgardt, Champions of the Battle Father.
