Raisa Dyernina
Ethran of Bhalla
Archdruid of the Circle of Quercatha Terr
High Priestess of the KeepVisual
This Rashemi woman has the short, strong build of her people. Her long black hair is either tied into a single braid or left down to hang just above her hips. She wears warm, layered clothes in earthy tones, favoring robes, long skirts, and thick cloaks. Even her forearms are seldom seen, but beneath the layers of fabric she is stronger than one might suspect and wears braid-like and runic tattoos of her faith and family. Her hands and nails are nearly always stained with dirt, and the scent of an eastern incense follows her. From her neck and wrists hang many charms and other jewelry made of bone and ivory carved with ornamental patterns and protective runes. Those with knowledge of Rashemen may recognize prominent symbols of Bhalla, the local avatar of Chauntea, and of The Hidden One, known as Mystra in Common.
Personality
Raisa carries herself with the seemingly modest grace befitting of Chauntea's faithful. Her open and friendly side was once evident at a glance, but she has grown quiet, even sullen in recent years. When talk turns to serious matters, she often masks her feelings with an expression as cool as stone. She has been capable of selfless acts of compassion, but more than a few have witnessed flashes of repressed anger. She is serious and determined in her duties and is often found praying, studying the strange effects of the local Weave, assisting the farmers of Norwick, or in one of her oddly distant, unresponsive moods. When troubled, Raisa is more likely to meditate than hit her head against a wall. Where others may be quick to combat, she is often cautious, seeking to remain neutral or to let the enemy bring about their own downfall.
Background
Like any young Rashemi girl with magical aptitude, Raisa was taken from her village between the Fir and Tir rivers to study with the Wychlaran, the infamous Witches of Rashemen, In Urling, she was trained in both divine and arcane magic, and there she developed her talents in abjuration, enchantment, and the druidic path. Raisa passed through Narfell in her twentieth year while on her dajemma, her voyage into adulthood. When she returned, it was both to repay her debt to the Rom and as an eye for her Sisters. Those who take the time to observe her or ask others in Narfell will learn that Raisa married Wolf several years ago and that the two have a young daughter named Masha, who lives with them in the druid grove. Though she seems generally liked, not a few would accuse her of self-righteousness. Among adventurers, she is frequently found in the rear of the party, observing more than participating. Books and letters she has written can be found in libraries of the land, most often expressing a mystical view of nature and the Weave and pleas for moderation in conduct and renewed faith in Chauntea and Mystra.
Raisa speaks Common with an accent that many worldly travellers will recognize, though she has lost the more pronounced elements in her many years in Narfell. As a student of the Witches, she learned Druidic, Sylvan, and Tuigan for ritual, arcane, and evangelical purposes respectively.
Raisa's arcane mark is a swan made with three brush strokes, always drawn or stamped in black ink.
